LIGHT SOURCES

Light Sources Emission from 185 to 5000nm Sarspec has available a large number of light sources that covers a wide wavelength range from 185 to 5000 nm. Depending on the application and flexibility required there’s also the need for the best light source selection. Sarspec offers seven light source models all having the flexibility of multi-application and great performance.

Flexible Electronics The advanced electronics used with external control in all available modules allows integration with other devices. In cases where turning off the lamps affects their lifetime or stability, there’s also a shutter included. When high intensity is required, Sarspec uses 12.7 mm lens for more efficient light collection and coupling into the optical fibers. Filter holder is also available and included in most of our light sources, allowing the use of different types of filters: LPF, SPF, BPF, N.D., etc. Please use the following chart and table for Light Source selection:

LIGHT SOURCES All included in a Vis/NIR light source Sarspec’s LS-W is the most complete Vis-NIR light source in the market integrating a Tungsten-Halogen lamp with manual intensity control, shutter, filter holder and SMA 905 connector. This compact equipment offers the possibility to have four different Tungsten-Halogen lamps (7, 14, 20 and 25 W) with wavelength ranges from 300-3000 nm for the 20 W version and 380-3000 nm for the remaining ones. In all supplied sources is also included a shutter which allows a simple operation for dark measurements and eliminates the need to turn off the lamps, extending their lifetime, one filter slot accepts filters to block specific ranges of wavelengths, offering great flexibility and 12.7 mm diameter focusing lens that ensure maximum throughput of light.

Intensity control All four configurations have local (knob) and remote intensity control which allows users to select the right intensity for their applications, allowing higher flexibility.

Remote operation All features from LS-W can be controlled remotely via the D-SUB connector and TTL compatible signals, namely the shutter, intensity control and lamp operation.

Flexibility in Vis/NIR Range This light source is a great option for Reflectance such as color measurements. For users that want to perform Fluorescence measurements we advise the 25 W version or the 7 W version for Absorbance and Transmittance. The light source allows lamps interchangeability without any hardware modification.

LIGHT SOURCES Innovative LED slide concept All available LED light sources in the market were until now either single channel with complex LED interchangeability (when possible) or expensive and complex multichannel sources. With this patent pending approach, Sarspec makes it easy to change between different LEDs/wavelengths just by inserting a LED slide into a slot holder. The LED slides are ready to use without the need of any wire connections. With this approach it’s possible to use any of more than 60 LEDs/Wavelengths available, purchasing only one light source and adding the required LEDs ranging from 275 nm to 4600 nm.

17

LIGHT SOURCES Extreme intensity Sarspec’s LS-Xe300 is the most intense fiber coupled light source in the market incorporating a 300 W continuous Xenon arc lamp. Providing brighter light than its competitors, this light source has a high performance, an extremely powerful lamp with very high light intensity and a wavelength range from 190 nm to more than 2000 nm. It can be used with an optical fiber or air transmission. The small size of the lamp makes it possible to focus the light with good precision. This equipment achieve maximum efficiency with safety concerns.

High sensitivity in fluorescence measurements Specially designed for Fluorescence measurements it can be attached to our multipurpose cuvette holder through a specific optical fiber bundle, that can handle the heat generated by the source, or by direct attach. This light source can also be used for air transmission with the collimated beam coupled to an optical system or just for high power irradiation.

Intensity adjust If it’s too much intensity for a specific application its always possible to adjust locally (knob) or remotely the intensity for a minimum of 180 W.

Shutter, Filter Holder and remote operation Included in this instrument are the slide filter holder and shutter. Remote connector (D-SUB) allows to operate the shutter (open/close), the intensity and enable/disable the lamp. The relative output for LS-Xe300 can be found below (-------- UV).

LIGHT SOURCES Built for IR applications With one 18 W Silicon Nitride emitter, the Light Source LS-MIR was specially designed for Infrared applications providing a wavelength range from 500 to 5000+ nm. This is an high flexibility product that includes shutter, slide filter holder, intensity control and remote operation.

Slide filter holder, intensity control and shutter for maximum flexibility The flexibility of this light source is granted not only for its wide wavelength range but also for the included slide filter holder allowing the selection of a specific range. The intensity control offers the user the possibility to select the correct intensity for each application. The LS-MIR includes a shutter to avoid overexpose the sample without turning off the lamp.

Remote operation All features from LS-MIR can be controlled remotely via the D-SUB connector and TTL compatible signals, namely the shutter, intensity control and emitter operation.

Extended emitter lifetime The emitter included in this instrument has an estimated lifetime of 5000 h reducing usage cost.

Large collection optics There’s no point in having an high power emitter when a high percentage of light is not coupled into the fiber. For that reason Sarspec uses 12.7 mm diameter lens offering high efficiency light collection.
