It’s as easy as 1-2-3. 1. Every LIT application starts with the plastic Housing Channel. You can cut/connect any number of the standard 4' sections to create the entire custom length of your application including 900 corners (exterior or interior). Next, lay the LED strip in the center of the Housing Channel. The strip is flexible and will turn around 900 corners. You can cut/connect strip segments of any length using the LED strip connectors (they work like staples). 2. Depending on your application select the appropriate plastic Diffuser or Channel Cover option and snap it onto the Housing Channel to lock in the LED strip. As with the Housing Channel, you can cut/connect diffuser segments to your exact specifications.

Utility Housing This rectangular plastic tube is designed to be used as a housing channel and a light diffuser combination. Its inner pocket allows for the insertion of non-shielded LED strip that remains secure and protected. The available end caps are used for both shielding the tube and surface-mounting your custom length section.

LED STRIPS There are two types of LED strips, shielded and non-shielded. The shielding refers to a specially designed silicone tube that protects the LED strip from the environment (exterior, elements, or even under water applications). The tube is continuous through the entire 16' length of the strip, and can be sealed on both ends using various methods (see Installation Tips). Each type of LED strip is available in two different light colors: warm and pure white, as measured by degrees Kelvin (see Specifications section).

CONNECTORS & POWER Connecting LED strips to any desired custom length while maintaining the exact LED spacing is easy. No more soldering or ugly gaps between strip connections. You can cut and splice multiple LED strips to form the exact length you desire by using the specially designed Strip Connectors. The connectors work with all three types of strips (shielded LED, non-shielded LED, and Strip Wire). You can bring low voltage power to your LIT application by using the power adapter(s) (one adapter per 32' LED length) and the Strip Wire. These are safe, low voltage flat wires that are easy to conceal.

COMPONENT SPECIFICATIONs 12V/4A Power Adapter This adapter is a regulated power supply switch rated for continuous use. Plugs into a standard 110V outlet. 1. Safety features include: • Short-Circuit Protection. Automatically powers down in the case of an electrical short and will automatically reset when the short is removed. • Thermal Overload Protection. Automatically powers down if a thermal overload occurs and will automatically reset when the temperature falls within the acceptable operating range. The Light Controller Model SRL727 (Item # LT0143) connects wirelessly to any smartphone (Android, iPhone, Blackberry) using Bluetooth and a free app. It allows the homeowner/user to power the LED strip On or Off, adjust the light intensity, and even set an automatic schedule directly from their smartphone. Download the app directly from your smartphone’s app store (search SecuRemote). Make sure your smartphone Bluetooth communication is on. Typical wireless control range is 60’. Plugs in between the AC adaptor and the LED strip. NOTE: Using alternate dimming controllers is not recommended for this product as they may create hazardous conditions. NOTE: The Light Controller Model SRL 727 will not function with alternate LED Strips. 2. X10 remote controllers for On/Off function only are available at www.X10.com. Installation tips Shielded LED Strip Sealing the ends of the 16’ (or a section) of the strip allows wet or even underwater applications. Sealing is as simple as inserting a small amount of waterproof silicone compound or caulk into the tube ends (0.25” to 1” deep). Loctite® or Dap Kitchen & Bath silicone are readily available. Housing Channel The Housing Channel is designed so that it can be easily secured to multiple surfaces and materials. For instance, perforated holes (spaced 6" apart) allow the use of screws (#6 flat head screws or equivalent width, length depends on the mounting application). The back side of the channel is designed so that it can be secured with double coated tape with quick bonding adhesive, plastic adhesive or even mortar. The channel can be easily cut with a small saw or even heavy duty scissors, to shorter lengths if desired. You can use the existing screw holes or you can drill new screw holes. Because there are many ways to mount the Housing Channel, fasteners are not included as part of an order (figure 3). Alignment connectors allow for joining sections in a straight line or 900 turns (figure 1). The alignment connectors are inserted into the back channel slots as shown in the example (figure 2). Besides alignment, these connectors can also provide structural rigidity for a corner if desired. Figure 1

Strip Connectors A Strip Connector set comprises two parts: The bottom part with prongs and the top part with holes. To splice a strip first make sure you cut it along the line between the repeating hole pattern on the strip(s). Then attach the ends of the two sections to the bottom connector by pressing the Strip Wire holes through the connector prongs as shown (figure 4-5). Make sure the connecting strips have the polarity signs aligned (+with+ and –with–). Press the top connector through the prongs to sandwich the spliced strip sections (figure 6). Last, use pliers to crimp the prongs ensuring a tight fit (figure 7). There are two types of strip connectors. One for a straight connections (LT0104-figure 7) and one for a 900 flat corner connections (LT0106-figure 8). Note that a 900 flat corner can be formed by just folding the LED strip (figure 9). The strip wire is flexible and bends enough to make the fold by using just your fingers. Do not compress the fold further with pliers or other tools as you may break the strip wire. Figure 4

Strip Wire Strip Wire makes installations fast and easy with a professional appearance. The low thickness of the Strip Wire (0.025") makes it easy to hide under paint, wallpaper, spackle, flooring, wallboards, moldings and cement. In addition, you can splice any custom length that suits your application using the Strip Connectors and bring power from a distant adapter location. Strip wire is a unique solution to any wiring application where stealth and aesthetics are desired. Diffusers Snapping a selected diffuser onto the housing channel will hold the LED strip firmly in place. The snapping action should start from the end of a section at a slight angle and then pressed throughout the remaining section (like zipping a plastic bag). Diffuser sections can be bonded to the Housing Channel by using plastic bonding systems such as Loctite®. Heavy duty clear PVC cement can be used to bond the joints. LIT Trim For cutting and mitering Decorative Trim use a compound mitre saw blade with 60 or more teeth and carbide tip. Use black RTV silicone or black 3M Strip-Calk to fill any joints where light is escaping through your trim. Power Connection If you want to power an LED section longer that 32' all you have to do is use multiple adapters which can all be located on a power strip that is connected to a wall switch or a remote On/Off switch. You can use Strip Connectors and Strip Wire to connect each one of the adapters to their respective 32' section. Such Strip wire sections can be hidden even behind or around the housing channel.

Typical Mounting Applications The LIT modularity and ease of installation allows endless design applications. Below are examples of basic mounting applications for designers to consider. The use of a Flat Diffuser and Decorative Trim will result in a fairly slim LIT that can be flush mounted on almost any surface or recessed in a groove (figure 8). A 0.22” deep groove will bring the base of the Decorative Trim flush with the mounting surface (figure 10-12). Light will be seen behind the Decorative Trim. The Decorative Trim design is made to compliment the LED spacing pattern. Figure 10

The Functional Diffuser and the Utility Housing can also be used in mounting applications similar to those described above, although the decorative effect will be based on light without decorative trim (figure 15). Warm White presents a very good alternative for flat diffuser LIT applications. Pure White simulates the day light and it is 33% brighter than the Warm White. Pure White becomes a good option to consider in applications where an Extended Diffuser delivers complete diffusion (softer on the eyes) and potentially more functional light in the room than what a Flat Diffuser would deliver. For example, a 16' long Pure White LED strip produces more light (1,168 Lumens) than a 75 Watt incandescent bulb (1,100 Lumens).
