Adventure Program 2014 The Warrior Adventure Program of the Life Adventure Center creates an environment where injured service members and their families can build relationships and interact as a part of a healthy community. By allowing these Warriors the chance to do something they love and experience the healing power of nature, this program has proven invaluable in helping wounded warriors on their road to healing.

Thank you for letting me in this program, I don’t know where I’d be without the support of your program and my fellow Warriors. You have changed my life and have helped me through some dark times.

-Participant, 2013 event

The Life Adventure Center is an educational non-profit organization that uses hands on learning in a natural setting. Simply put, we change lives. We invite you to volunteer for one of these events to experience first hand the impact of these programs. Most importantly We hope you help us change a life.

As recently as 2012, studies found that an average of 22 veterans will take their own life every day. Across the military, divorce rates are the highest they have been in 15 years, c with ith nearly 30,000 military marriages ending last year. Two out of three families report adjustment problems following military service. 76% of veterans report symptoms of mental health disorders to health care providers.

the need

The active deployment , post-deployment, and reintegration stages can be times of great joy and family cohesiveness, but they can also be times of great stress and disorganization. As service members return from deployment or treatment in a hospital, they must reintegrate into family life and society as a whole. Everyone must work together to establish a “new normal.” If support is available and reintegration is handled in a healthy manner, it can be a time for Warriors to connect on new and deeper levels. It was revealed in camp evaluation data from the 2012 and 2013 Warrior Adventure Programs that participants found time together with fellow wounded warriors, and time participating in fun outdoor activities to be very impactful. One hundred percent of program participants stated that they would recomend this program to other Warriors.

I was going through a very hard time before participating in your program and it personally helped me move past some things that, in the past, have led to inpatient treatment at the VA. -Participant, 2012 event
