It is a matter of great pleasure for me to take this opportunity to express my regards and the deep sense of gratitude towards all the Rotarians who are contributing for the various social causes. One of the burning issues of the times is the non-availability of education to all the citizens, which no doubt is their birthright. The government of India has given the right-to-education to all but still there are many people who are fully illiterate and uneducated. They don't even know to put their signature. Each and every club in our District has done a great job to promote the cause of 'Educate India' in the month of September, but it is my deep desire that this literacy drive should continue throughout the year. In fact this should be the primary duty of every Rotarian to keep contributing every single day with his best possible efforts to educate the illiterate. The festival season is approaching and its my great desire that on this occasion of auspicious festivals we should give a gift of literacy to the society by contributing Rs 2100 to Rotary India Literacy Mission “Asha Kiran – a ray of hope”. It is an initiative of RILM to send 100,000 out-of-school children, aged 7-14, back to school. By contributing Rs 2100 one child can be sent back to school. Now is the time that we should sincerely work towards increasing our Rotary family. You are requested to explore the nearby areas and get the New Clubs chartered, so that they can also take-up the social causes for the upliftment of their area. Let us serve the humanity with our most sincere efforts and remain engrossed in the Rotary's causes of 'Be a Gift to the World' by becoming the real torchbearers of the club. With warm regards Dharamvir Garg

Editor's Message
Message PDG Dr. Satpal Singla Dear Fellow Rotarians, Gree ngs!! Three months are already over and our District i s p ro g re s s i n g i n t h e r i g h t d i re c o n . Membership is increasing day by day. Clubs are par cipa ng enthusias cally in Blood Dona on Drives, Tree Planta on Drives, Literacy Programs and they are also undertaking need-based projects. The world is changing and its me of IT era. Clubs should submit their goals in Rotary Club Central to qualify for Presiden al Cita on this year. Clubs should encourage the use of rotary website for each and every member. Workshops at club level should be organized on rotary.org. Congratula ons to DG Dharamvir Garg and his team for excellent work. I want to appreciate the work of Assistant Governors and wish that they would con nue working with the same spirit. This year a remarkable number of clubs have deposited their dues on me. In the end I would like to say 'Be a Gi to the world'. Om Shan … Dr. Satpal Singla District Trainer 2015-16
Message AG Kuldeep Singh Sra Dear Fellow Rotarians, Gree ng!! It is a privilege for me to communicate my views to all of you through 3rd GML “SANKALP” being brought out under the dynamic leadership of our youngest District Governor Dharamvir Garg. I extend my hear elt gra tude to our District Governor for giving me an opportunity to be a part of Rotary Team for the year 2015-16. Under his able leadership our district is organizing all func ons in such a well managed and graceful way and almost all the clubs par cipate in these func ons. The clubs have also undertaken different social service projects during last three months. Our Rotary theme for the year 2015-16 chosen by our RI President K R Ravi Ravindran - “BE A GIFT TO THE WORLD”. With the sincere efforts and contribu on by Rotarians Polio Free – a great gi to the humanity. Now we have to focus on Literacy, Tree planta ons, blood dona on, Drug de-addic on and sanita on projects. Our DG Dharamvir Garg is making all efforts along with our world-class presidents and Secretaries and their dedicated members to bring our district on new heights during the current year. Second AG meet was organized on 13th Sept 2015 at Bathinda to review the working of clubs and share new ideas with their team to achieve the district goals and serve the community. The meet was very successful. I hope that all the Rotarians will work hard under the leadership of our worthy DG Rtn. Dharamvir Garg to fulfill the theme of our RI President K R Ravi Ravindran - “BE A GIFT TO THE WORLD”. Thanks world class DG, world class PDGs, world class AGs, world class Presidents, world class Secretaries and world class members. With best wishes, CA Kuldeep Singh Sra Assistant Governor
Sandeep Mi al My Dear Fellow Rotarians, Rotary Gree ngs !! We all like to wear the Branded items and with the brand consciousness increasing in this ever-evolving society, aren't we forge ng one more Brand? “The Rotary Brand”… Yes! That 1-inch li le Rotary Pin, with its wheel, we just casually forget to wear along. Even though our service work speaks volumes by itself, we will be recognized as a Rotary Brand if we are rather seen in it. The importance of Rotary Branding was very well explained by PDG Vijay Gupta ji at the District Training Assembly at Chandigarh. Lets take an example: On Day 1 the Rotarians of a club visited the slum in their area and distributed the eatables. Later in the evening nobody knew that who distributed the eatables. Similarly on Day 2 the same Rotarians went to another slum wearing their Rotary T-shirts, Pins and Caps. When asked, everybody said 'Rotary wale aaye the, Achhe log the'. Yes!! Carrying your Rotary brand with you is very important… Wear your Rotary Pin and you will be recognized as the part of the biggest Humanitarian Organiza on. I wish you all a very happy fes ve season and hope you will enjoy reading this GML as we are trying to put as much informa on as possible. Wishing you all the Best… Sandeep Mi al District Secretary Publica on

When did you join Rotary? I joined Rotary in 1959 as Charter member of Rotary Club Sri Ganganagar. Why did you join Rotary? I joined Rotary because there was no other source of entertainment and get together. Earlier Collector of Sri Ganganagar was the President of Rotary Club by virtue of ofce. In which year you were President of your club? I remained President of Club in 1976. How Rotary has changed over the years? Earlier friendship, fellowship and punctuality were much more than today's time. Earlier attendance was very good which is very poor now a days. Guest speakers of high caliber were invited in the meetings to speak and Rotary members were of high esteem, which doesn't exist today. Now Rotary is emphasizing more on membership and less on quality. Earlier District Governors came with full preparations and were staying at the homes of Rotarians instead of Hotels. What message would you like to give to our District? Rotary 3090 is much behind the then past. People join Rotary for eating and drinking and are not serious about the meetings. They start eating and drinking even before the meeting is called off. Proper protocol is not followed. President of today are hard working but they don't come with full knowledge of Rotary. I would like to say that proper protocol should be followed in the meetings.
C O N G R AT U L AT I O N S Ian H.S. Riseley, of the Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria, Australia, is the selection of the Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International in 2017-18. He will become the president-nominee on 1st October if no other candidates challenge him.

Changing Lives Through Rotary Rotary Club Barnala Rotary Club Barnala has been working with Guru Nanak Charitable Slum Area Trust for the development of slum area students by providing education, books, sanitation products, shoes, etc. The club members celebrate all the religious and other functions with these students like Lohri, diwali and national days. For further betterment the club also educates the parents of these students. These students are going to schools in daytime and are having coaching in evening classes. with the efforts of PP S P Kaushal, PP Rajkumar Sharma has provided free accommodation to the students for the evening classes. Good students who are performing well are sent to better institutions of Barnala. Other clubs should also take the example of RC Barnala and take some permanent projects like this.
