FRANCES M. HOYE MEMORIAL TROPHY -- (long-time breeder of Schipperkes under the Fairlaur banner and life member of LDKC). This trophy will be presented to the winner of Best Puppy in Show On Saturday, Nov. 16, provided the puppy is owner-handled through all classes to BPIS. A $50.00 cash award will be offered in Fran’s memory and the owner’s name and puppy’s name will be engraved on the memorial trophy, which will remain with LDKC. The dog must be owned by the handler at the closed of entries. It may be co-owned provided that it is handled through all classes by one of the co-owners.
KINKO HIRONAKA MEMORIAL TROPHY (OBEDIENCE) -- The Lethbridge & District Kennel Club is pleased to offer this trophy for the high aggregate score from the 3 trials from either the Novice A or Novice B obedience classes (all qualifying scores must be earned from the same class). Ties will be broken to assure a single winner. A keeper trophy will be awarded and the owner’s name and name of dog will be engraved on the memorial trophy, which will remain with LDKC.

Novice A
This is for any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has not earned the title of C.D. (Companion Dog). Only one dog may be entered in this class by any one exhibitor. The dog must be handled by the owner or a member of his immediate family. No person who has previously trained or exhibited a dog through its C.D.X. (Companion Dog Excellent) title shall be allowed to handle a dog in this class. Novice B This is for any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has not earned the title of C.D. (Companion Dog). Dogs in this class may be handled by any person. More than one dog may be entered by any handler, but each dog must have a separate handler for the group exercises. No dog may be entered in both the Novice A and Novice B class at any one trial. Open A This is for any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has earned the title of C.D. but has not earned the title of C.D.X. (Companion Dog Excellent). Only one dog may be entered in this class by any one exhibitor. The dog must be handled by the owner or a member of his immediate family. Any person who has previously trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a U.D. title may not handle a dog in this class. Open B This is for any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has earned the title of C.D. in Canada. Dogs in this class may be handled by any person. More than one dog may be entered by any handler, but each dog must have a separate handler for the group exercises. No dog may be entered in both Open A and Open B at any one trial. A dog that has earned the title of C.D.X. must compete in Open B. Dogs eligible for entry in the Utility Class are also eligible for entry in this class. Utility A This is for any dog of any recognized or listed breed that has earned the title of C.D.X., but has not earned the title of U.D.. The dog must be handled by the owner or a member of his immediate family. Any person who has trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a M.O.T.C.H title may not handle dogs in this class. Handlers may enter more than one dog in this class. Utility B This is for any dog of any recognized or listed breed that has earned the title of C.D.X. or U.D. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class. No dog may be entered in both Utility A and Utility B at the same trial. Pre Novice This is for any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has not earned the title of P.C.D (Pre-Companion Dog). Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. A person may enter more than one dog in this class and must have an additional handler for each dog when they are judged together in the Group Exercise. A dog that has earned the title of C.D. is not eligible for this class. This class is an elective class and earning the title is not a requirement to advance to the Novice Classes. Novice C This is for any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has earned the title of C.D., C.D.X., U.D., or any Obedience Trial Championship Title prior to the closing date of the trial in which it is to be entered. Dogs in this class may be handled by any person. More than one dog may be entered by any handler, but each dog must have a separate handler for the group exercises. Dogs may compete in the Novice C class indefinitely. Scores earned by dog in the Novice C Class are not eligible for High in Trial and do not qualify a dog for any title. Novice Intermediate This is for any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has earned the title of C.D., C.D.X., U.D., or any Obedience Trial Championship. Scores earned by dogs competing in this class are not eligible for High in Trial. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. This class is an elective class and earning the title is not a requirement to enter the Open classes.

RALLY OBEDIENCE classes will be provided:
Rally Novice A
Dogs entered in this class may not have won a CKC Rally Novice (RN) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or member of their immediate family. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Dogs that have earned titles or are not the owners may enter in the Novice B class. All exercises are judged on leash and dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. Any dog may compete in this class until a qualifying score in the Rally Advanced class has been earned. The owner or any person may handle dogs in this class. All exercises are judged on leash and dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. This class is for dogs that have won the Rally Novice (RN) title but have not won the Rally Advanced (RA) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner or member of their immediate family. All exercises are judged off leash and dogs must enter and leave ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Novice (RN) title. Upon completing the Rally Advanced (RA) title a dog may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any person may handle dogs in this class. All exercises are judged off leash and dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Advanced (RA) title, but have not won the Rally Excellent (RE) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. A dog may not be entered or exhibited in this class after official notification from the CKC that the dog has won the title (RE). No dog may be entered in both Rally Excellent A & B at any one trial. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner or member of their immediate family. All exercises are judge off leash and the dog must enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Advanced (RA) title. A dog may compete in this class indefinitely. Any person is allowed to handle a dog in this class. All exercises are judged off leash and dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class.
Rally Novice B Rally Advanced A

For information only: Rally Advanced Excellent title -- Upon completion of the Rally Excellent title, qualifying scores may be accumulated from Rally Advanced B and Rally Excellent B to earn the Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE) title. To receive the RAE title, a dog must qualify ten (10) times in both Rally Advanced and Rally Excellent at the same trial. The title will appear at the end of the dog’s name and a numeric designation will indicate the number of times the dog has met the requirements, i.e. RAE2, RAE3, etc. To be eligible to compete in these obedience or rally obedience trials, the dog must be 6 months of age and registered or be eligible for registration with the CKC, have an ERN, PEN or a CKC Miscellaneous Certificate number. A dog may be spayed, neutered or debarked.
ATTENTION - ALL FOREIGN EXHIBITORS – EVENT
REGISTRATION NUMBER
Effective Jan/1992 all dogs that are foreign-born and foreign-owned and enter Canada for the sole purpose of entering CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) events will no longer require a CKC registration number but will require an ERN - Event Registration Number. This ERN does not register a dog with CKC for breeding purposes as defined in the Animal Pedigree Act but rather enables a foreign-owned dog to be awarded titles by the Canadian Kennel Club. Each dog must have its own number. To obtain an ERN, mail or fax a photocopy of the dog's foreign registration certificate with cheque or VISA/MasterCard number (expiry date, cardholder's name and signature). Provide your complete address for return of the ERN to you. Cost is $59.40 plus 5% GST. ERN MUST BE APPLIED FOR WITHIN 30 DAYS OF FIRST DAY OF ENTERING A CKC EVENT. A CKC ERN registration form can be downloaded from the CKC website: http://www.ckc.ca
CKC FAX NUMBER (416) 675-6506 MOVING A CLASS DOG TO SPECIALS A dog which is individually registered in the records of the CKC or that has a Miscellaneous Certification Number (MCN) and has completed the requirements for a championship in accordance with these rules but at the time of closing of entries for show has not received confirmation of the title, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to Specials Only providing the transfer is submitted to the Show Secretary in writing by the order/handler at least one (1) hour prior to the opening of the show. When one or more all-breed championship shows and/or specialty shows are held on the same date in the same venue, the request for moving of class dogs to specials must be made a minimum of one (1) hour prior to the scheduled start of the show for which the dog is being moved up to.
CKC Non-Member Participation Fee - (24-12-3) a)
An annual non-member participation fee for awards and titles will be charged to a Canadian non-member of CKC. The fee will match the ERN fee. b) In order to protect the awards/titles earned, the non-member will have a choice either to become a CKC member or to pay the non-member participation fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will cause all awards and titles to be cancelled. c) "these fees apply only to dogs wholly owned by Canadian resident non-CKC members and are not applicable to CKC members" *Please note that the CKC Membership Application and the Non-Member Participation Fee forms are available on the website, http://www.ckc.ca under CKC Services and then Forms On-line. If submitting a Membership Application, please ensure that you also complete the Non-Member Participation Fee form so that we are aware of the dogs involved.
JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION Saturday, November 16 - during the lunch break Held under CKC Rules. Classes Offered: Pee Wee (non-competitive) / Junior Novice / Intermediate Novice / Senior Novice / Junior Open / Intermediate Open / Senior Open. Age Structure: Pee Wee (4-6 years), Junior (7-11 years), Senior (12-18 years). Entry Fee: $2.00 payable at registration. Entries will be taken Saturday, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Dogs handled in the competition must be entered in the show/trial on that day. The LDKC will be offering a rosette for Best Overall Junior Handler.

Dog Show Rule books and Obedience Trial regulations are available from the Canadian Kennel Club. Cost is $6.30 per copy + 5% GST. The Show Superintendent will be in full charge of the show which will be governed by CKC rules Entries will be acknowledged after entry closing, with receipt, judging schedule and exhibitor passes. If such acknowledgement is not received one week before the show date, please contact the Show Secretary. “It shall be the duty and obligation of the show-giving club to see that a judge, club official, volunteer or any participant at an event held under these rules is not subject to indignities” – CKC rule book, Section 19.7. ENTRY FEES SHALL NOT BE REFUNDED AFTER THE CLOSING DATE in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of Show Committee, or because it has been entered incorrectly. If because of riot, civil disturbance, or other acts beyond the control of the Club, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry will be made. ENTRY FEES WILL BE REFUNDED WHEN A BITCH ENTERED IN OBEDIENCE OR RALLY COMES INTO SEASON after entry of the bitch has been submitted if a Veterinarians certificate, certifying that the bitch was in season within the ten day period preceding the trial, is delivered to the Show Secretary on or before the date of the trial. ALL DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEASH WHILE ON THE GROUNDS. You are responsible for cleaning up if you permit your dog to relieve itself outside the show building. Failure to do so may result in being expelled from the building for one day’s showing by the Superintendent. All empty rings are to be kept free of dogs. SHOW PRECINCTS shall be the entire North Pavilion, Exhibition Park. “ALL DOGS MUST BE KEPT UNDER CONTROL AT ALL TIMES.” If not in competition the dog must wear a collar and be on leash a maximum of six (6) feet or appropriately confined in the benching area.
