Road Maintenance This Week: Striping Maintenance: Lee County DOT will be performing a moving operation with traffic delays on 1-12-17 through 1-18-17 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (weather permitting) on: A & W Bulb Road Bass Road Beacon Boulevard Beacon Street Davis Road Iona Road John Morris Road

Fiddlesticks Boulevard: Lee County DOT will be milling and paving Fiddlesticks Boulevard beginning Sunday night, January 15th. The work will be done at night from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and anticipate the project to be finished by January 18th, 2017. Motorists should use caution as there will be lane closures with possible traffic delays. For further questions, call DJ Padgett at 239-533-9300. Veterans Parkway - Lee County will have contractors inspecting overhead structures on Veterans Parkway approaching the Toll Facilities from 1/16/17 to 1/20/17. Hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No major slowdowns are expected during this work. For further questions, contact Jed Mason at 239-533-9543.

1. Road Work/Maintenance/Improvements: Boca Grande Roadwork: Ajax Paving Industries of Florida will begin working on the Boca Grande roadways October 10th. The work will consist of road widening, widening multi-purpose path, and resurfacing local streets. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution when traveling in the work zone area. Burnt Store Road from Diplomat Parkway to Van Buren Parkway: Construction Project: New Update 1/11/17 - This project consists of the initial widening of Burnt Store Road to

four lanes (ultimately the future design is for six lanes with a two-lane frontage road). The project also includes installation of conduits under the road for the City of Cape Coral. 

The speed limit is reduced to 45 miles per hour. Motorists should use caution as construction vehicles enter and exit the roadway.



Diplomat Parkway at the intersection of Burnt Store Road: Motorists should expect the existing intersection to close on Friday, January 13 weather permitting. Northbound and southbound Burnt Store Road motorists must use the new connecting ramp at NW 12th Terrace to access Diplomat Parkway. Westbound Diplomat Parkway motorists must also use this ramp to access Burnt Store Road. Motorists should follow detour signs and use extreme caution while driving in this area.

NW 12th Terrace at the intersection of Burnt Store Road: This intersection will close TEMPORARILY. This road closure will remain in effect for the duration of the project. Motorists should access NW 31st Place via NW 9TH Terrace. Local area residents will have access at all times during construction.



NW 14th Terrace at the intersection of Burnt Store Road: This intersection will CLOSE PERMANENTLY. Motorists should access NW 14th Terrace via NW 16th Street. Local area residents will have access at all times during construction.



NW 17th Lane at the intersection of Burnt Store Road: This intersection will CLOSE PERMANENTLY. Motorists should now use NW 16th Street to access the neighborhood. Local area residents will have access at all times during construction.



NW 19th Terrace from Burnt Store Road to NW 31st Place will CLOSE PERMANENTLY. Motorists should now use NW 18th Terrace to access the neighborhood. Local area residents will have access at all times during construction.

This north segment from Diplomat Parkway to Van Buren Parkway costs $15.3 million and the City of Cape Coral’s utility conduits are $550,000. The contractor is Quality Enterprises, USA, Inc. Lee County RWA – For week of January 16, 2017 Estero Boulevard Construction – reFRESH Estero Boulevard/Waterlines – Crescent Street to Madera Road Contractors for Fort Myers Beach and Lee County are installing new water main, and sanitary sewer force main, storm drainage, sidewalk and rebuilding roadway on Estero Boulevard from Crescent Street to Madera Road. Motorists may experience daytime and nighttime intermittent one-lane traffic on Estero Boulevard. Flaggers will alternate traffic frequently, but motorists should expect delays. Crews are expected to work Monday through Friday and most Saturdays. Segment 1 - Crescent Street to Lovers Lane: Motorists should expect travel lanes to be shifted on Estero Boulevard from Miramar Street south to Lovers Lane. Two travel lanes will remain open the majority of the time; however, intermittent lane closures may be necessary.

Avenue C to Miramar Street – crews to modify the pervious pavers. Miramar Street to Lovers Lane - Motorists will use the northbound and center lanes while crews work in the southbound lane.  Miramar Street to Pearl Street - Concrete barrier wall in place while crews demo, regrade, rebuild and pave southbound roadway.  Chapel Street to Lovers Lane – Crews will set remaining concrete barrier wall. Crews will demo, regrade, rebuild and pave southbound roadway. Segment 2 - Lovers Lane to Madera Road: Lovers Lane to Connecticut Street – Southbound traffic is shifted to the center lane while crews install water main on the beach side of Estero Boulevard.  Junkanoo to Voorhis Street - One-lane flagging is expected in this section. Connecticut Street to Coconut Drive – Northbound traffic is shifted to the center lane while crews install sanitary sewer force main followed by grade and pave temporary shoulder/sidewalk. Gulfview Avenue to Madera Road - Crews will continue water main work on the beach side of Estero Boulevard. Southbound traffic is shifted to the center lane and one-lane flagging is possible. Pedestrian/Ramp Improvements - Orange Grove Boulevard: Lee County DOT will construct pedestrian/ramp improvements on Orange Grove Boulevard at St. Clair Avenue and Birkdale Avenue beginning January 5th and anticipate to be completed by January 30, 2017. South River Road: Lee County DOT will be performing road work on South River Road just east of Snyder Drive. The job is scheduled to start January 3rd, 2017 and should be completed by January 20th, 2017, weather permitting. There will be single lane closures from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. US 41 Transmission Mains: Lee County Utilities – Old Gladiolus Drive to Sunrise Boulevard: Contractors for Lee County Utilities are installing new water main and sewer force main on the east side of US 41 from south of Old Gladiolus Drive north to Sunrise Boulevard. Crews are working along US 41 and Daniels Parkway just east of US 41. Work typically occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Crews are working near the roadway. Some driveways will be temporarily closed but businesses and residences will have access throughout the project. Some sidewalks may be closed on the east side of US 41. Some bus stops may be closed and relocated. This schedule may be subject to change due to inclement weather and unforeseen underground conditions. Drivers and pedestrians should use caution. 2. Bridge Maintenance/Improvements: Big Carlos Draw Bridge # 120028, - State DOT in conjunction with HDR/ICA will be performing Bridge Inspections on the Big Carlos Draw Bridge. The job is scheduled to start on the nights of January 25th and 26th, 2017. Crews will be working from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. weather permitting.
