FLUORESCENT / LED BALLAST DIMMER Installation and operation

2

Introduction MK astral TM fluorescent dimmers are available in 1 and 2 gang versions for connection and control of 1 or 2 load circuits containing 0-10V or 1-10V analogue dimmable ballasts used to power dimmable fluorescent and LED lighting They are suitable for flush or surface mounting in BS wall boxes with a minimum internal depth of 35mm and should be mounted in dry indoor locations only. Each MK astral TM fluorescent dimmer also has the capability to control up to 5 other switches and/or dimmers. It will provide on/off control over switches and on/off and dimming control over dimmers to operate together as a group. Alternatively it can be used to control a scene where the user configured light levels are recalled to set a required lighting mood. A 2 gang fluorescent dimmer can control 2 groups/scenes. The Fluorescent/LED dimmer can also be used in conjunction with the MK range of high Power Dimmers, (K1400, K1401 and K1402) to drive higher power loads beyond the capability of the standard astral LDM series dimmers.

Safety Group control and dimming

When using the dimmer to turn on a group, dimmers will turn on at the light level they were set to before they were turned off. The light levels of all dimmers in a group will align to the same level after any dimming operation ends. Scene control and dimming

When turning on dimmers in a scene they will always go to their programmed light level for the scene. Dimming of all dimmers in a scene, will maintain any difference in light level after dimming stops. The light levels will not align.

Always follow the manufacturer’s advice when using power tools, steps, ladders etc. and wear appropriate protective equipment such as safety goggles when drilling holes. Before drilling holes in walls, check for hidden electricity cables and water pipes, and use a cable/pipe locator if in doubt. Danger 230 volts

Always disconnect the electricity supply before commencing any work on the installation of devices. Before changing a lamp or bulb ensure the electricity supply to the lamp holder or light fitting is off. The device should be installed by a competent person or a qualified electrician in accordance with the device’s installation instructions and the appropriate current national wiring regulations. It is essential that all connections are made as instructed, that cables are not stressed and that terminals are fully tightened. The mains supply to this device must be protected by a 10A type B or type C MCB.
