Most of you build your paintings from photography, the quality of your work hinges on your ability to take good photographs. Regardless of subject matter, a fundamental understanding of photography is essential. We’ll address basic components of capturing an image. We will examine camera operation, creating dynamic still life images and portrait photography. I will also cover photographing your paintings with a regular digital camera and the camera on your phone. Supply list online.

Encaustic painting, or hot wax painting, uses heated beeswax to which colored pigments have been added. Encaustic is an ancient art form with a modern twist. You will learn several techniques to create unique pieces of art. Come and experience this fun, easy media. You leave with several finished paintings ready to be displayed and enjoyed.

Learn how to apply Patinas to your clay sculptures.

A whimsical approach to an ancient Japanese throwing technique. Imagine a mound of clay spinning on the wheel – using only a portion from the top at a time. Create funky creatures, use them in your garden, construct quirky wind chimes or a magical critter kingdom. Creations will be glazed and fired making them functional indoors and out.
