Leadership Development At Regent University, we seek to transform students to think, live and serve as Christian leaders in the 21st century through integrated approaches that enhance the academic experience with extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities.

Transforming the Christian Mind: The Core Curriculum

Leadership development at Regent begins with our core curriculum, which is comprised of competencies that prepare students for Christian thought, action and leadership. The cornerstone course, The Making of the Christian Mind, gives students the opportunity to develop a Christian philosophy of life and to study great Christian thinkers. The curriculum culminates in a capstone course, The Making of a Christian Leader, in which students study the framework and principles of a Biblical understanding of leadership from a global context and a wide spectrum of disciplines and professions. This is where students put their learning into action by participating in a 10-hour leadership experience.

Lectures on Christian Leadership

Great leadership is formed on truth and Christ-likeness. The monthly CAS Assemblies are a forum in which students consider and reflect upon Biblical truth and the power of transformational ideas through lectures and presentations provided by distinguished Christian scholars and thinkers. This series fosters an environment of intellectual, spiritual and character development that provides a strong foundation for 21st-century service and leadership. Presenters will interact with students in a general assembly format and also engage students in informal small-group settings to provide mentoring opportunities. Students can also take advantage of these opportunities to refine leadership skills and enhance their educational experience:

Career Services and Internships – Personalized services to equip students with resources that enhance marketability, promote goal setting and encourage excellence as students prepare for internship and career opportunities.

• Career assessment and counseling to determine gifts, abilities, strengths and interests. • Resources and assistance for internship placement, résumé writing, job searching, interviewing and networking.

Study Abroad – Regent Summer Study at Oxford and Best Semester Programs

As a member of the Council of Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU), Regent students can take advantage of Best Semester, a world-class study abroad program that offers: • Twelve culture-shaping programs (choose from four domestic and eight international locations). • An exciting supplement to any major or area of study, with Biblical integration and application included. • Learn more at www.bestsemester.com

La Casa de Español – Regent’s Spanish Residential Language Community that prepares Christian leaders for worldwide leadership and cultural understanding. Students observe “all Spanish hours,” enjoy weekly family-style dinners, and participate in mini-courses on Hispanic cooking, traditions and fine arts. To apply, visit www.regent.edu/lacasa.

Leadership and Service – Student organizations, such as the College Leadership Board, serves the CAS student body in creating and supporting a vibrant campus atmosphere by working closely with the student services staff and faculty. The Student Activities Board is an organization that provides entertainment, activities, cultural and educational experiences for the campus. The board exists to maintain campus traditions and enrich the community of Regent University and its members serve the campus in order to provide a holistic collegiate experience.

Spiritual Life The Campus Ministries office at Regent University exists to encourage students in their spiritual journey. Like Barnabas helped Paul find his calling, we come alongside students to help them become Christian leaders to change the world. That spiritual journey includes several key aspects: The Journey Up Every student is encouraged to walk with God in a life of worship and prayer.

• University Chapel unites the campus community every Wednesday at noon for a time of worship and learning among students, faculty and staff. • UnChapel is a student-led chapel that meets Thursdays at 8 p.m. Students come together in a casual atmosphere to join in enthusiastic praise to God, sharing the joys and struggles of their journey. • Regular times of prayer take place on campus. Weekly student-led prayer and regular intercessory prayer give students and staff the opportunity to connect with God. • You can be involved no matter where you’re located. Campus Ministries can be accessed 24/7 from your MyRegent portal. See upcoming events, find a local church, or watch live streams or archived videos of University Chapel and UnChapel.

The Journey Together Every student is encouraged to walk together with others in a Christian community.

• Life Groups: Whether through your mutual residence in one of Regent’s housing locations or your mutual interest in some topic, you can join like-minded students in an authentic community. Check the Campus Ministries website at www.regent.edu/campusministries for groups near you! • Ministry Teams: Join your fellow students in ministry on campus, including roles assisting with media, hospitality or worship. Campus Ministries will make sure you can use your gifts and talents to serve others.

The Journey Out

Every student is encouraged to live the Regent mission through service to the world. • Regular “Regent Serves” opportunities to volunteer in local ministries like the Union Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Crisis Pregnancy Center and many more. • Alternative fall and spring break programs to serve the least and the lost around the country and the world. Trips have included service in New York City, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C.

Visit our Spiritual Life website to access resources, our statement of faith and devotionals at www.regent.edu/undergrad/spirituallife. Connect with us anytime by accessing the Campus Ministries link in your MyRegent portal online.

Registration for Evening/Online Students NOTE: TRADITIONAL CAMPUS STUDENTS WILL REGISTER WITH AN ADVISOR AT SOAR (SUMMER ORIENTATION, ADVISING & REGISTRATION) OR A TRANSFER TRANSITION ORIENTATION EVENT AND SHOULD NOT REGISTER ONLINE.

1.

REVIEW YOUR PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS The first step is to determine the courses you need to complete. To do this, locate the course requirements for your chosen degree program in the online College of Arts & Sciences catalog at www.regent.edu/catalog or in The FAQs Blackboard module. Register for courses that satisfy your degree program requirements. Do not register for courses that may be satisfied by transfer credits.

2.

REVIEW THE ACADEMIC CALENDAR AND SEMESTER COURSE SCHEDULE The Academic Calendar identifies important registration, tuition payment and class add and drop dates. The Semester Course Schedule displays course offerings for the current semester. Both can be accessed from The FAQs Blackboard module. To receive your full financial aid or scholarship benefits at the beginning of each semester, you must register for all classes you plan to take in the 16-week semester and/or both 8-week sessions in a semester. Each of the three semesters (fall, spring and summer) has two 8-week sessions: • The fall schedule includes both sessions A & B. • The spring schedule includes both sessions C & D. • The summer schedule includes both sessions E & F. CHOOSE YOUR COURSES AND PLAN YOUR SCHEDULE • Locate your chosen courses on the Semester Course Schedule. Each session is color coded: q The first colored section represents the first session of the semester and 15-week courses. q The second colored section represents the second session.

3.

4.

• Note the chosen course reference number (CRN) located in the second column after the session identifier column. You will register for courses using this CRN. • The next two columns list the Department Code (e.g., GENE) and the Course Number (e.g., 100) which will help quickly identify the courses for which you want to register (e.g., GENE 100). • Before making your final selection, be sure to note whether the course is offered on campus (VB) or online (Online) and the length of the course. q On-campus courses can be either 15 weeks or 8 weeks. q All online courses are 8 weeks. • If the class meets on campus, note the day of the week, time and location. Find where your class meets using the campus map at www.regent.edu/campusmap. • The Course Schedule will identify the course instructor whenever possible. • If the course has prerequisite requirements, they will be noted on the schedule. You should not enroll in classes for which you have not completed the prerequisite requirements.

REGISTER FOR COURSES IN GENISYS • Login to Genisys through MyRegent portal (http://my.regent.edu). • Select the Student Services & Financial Aid tab. • Select the Registration link. • Select the appropriate semester from the drop down list and click the Submit button. • Select the Register & Add/Drop Classes link. • Insert your chosen CRNs into the Add Classes Worksheet and click the Submit Changes button. Want more help? Visit The FAQs Blackboard module for registration resources and tutorials or attend a live advising webinar. Check your email for dates and topics, or contact your academic advisor. Students who have not attended a class, or distance students who have not participated in instructional events for which they are registered, will, at the end of the second week of the session/semester, be administratively dropped from that class. Any participation in the class, including logging in to Blackboard, constitutes class attendance. C H R I S T I A N

Funding Your Education A Regent education is a tremendous value—in quality and cost. During the last academic year, Regent’s College of Arts & Sciences awarded more than $3.2 million in financial aid, and approximately 90 percent of students received some type of financial assistance. Opportunities to fund your education from a single source are limited, so we encourage you to familiarize yourself with all your options. FEDERAL AID PROGRAMS Eligibility for federal aid (such as the Pell Grant and Stafford Loans) is based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We strongly encourage you to complete the FAFSA as it can be a significant resource to fund your education and may be required for some school-based awards. Students who plan to enroll in the fall semester should submit the FAFSA by March 15. Regent University’s FAFSA code is 030913. You can learn more about completing the FAFSA online at www.regent.edu/fafsa. STATE GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS The Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG) is available to Virginia residents who hold “domicile status.” Learn more at www.regent.edu/ vtag. Out-of-state students are encouraged to contact the Department of Education in the state in which they reside for information on options their state may offer; however, many states reserve financial assistance for students who attend colleges or universities within their home state. SCHOOL-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS Regent University offers a variety of grants and scholarships. Now that you’re accepted, you can explore all the options available to you at www.regent.edu/undergrad/awards. Award options vary depending on your program of enrollment (traditional campus versus evening/ online). School-based awards may be combined with federal, state and private aid to assist in covering your educational costs. PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS Thousands of private organizations provide scholarship assistance, and they are based on a variety of factors. To search for scholarships, use free scholarship search engines, such as the ones provided online: www.regent.edu/aidsearch. PAYMENT PLAN Regent University is pleased to offer our convenient Tuition Installment Plan (TIP) to help students and families manage college-related expenses through monthly installments. TIP divides charges into four equal payments during fall and spring semesters (three payments for the summer semester). Each semester requires a $45 TIP Enrollment Fee. You can learn more about the TIP online at www.regent.edu/ tuitioninstall or by contacting the Business Office at 757.352.4050.
