General advice Do not set the date between 9pm and 3am so as not to damage the mechanism for setting the date in the clockwork.
Extreme temperatures As far as possible, the watch should not be exposed to extreme temperatures or heavy temperature fluctuations. Also avoid long influence of heat such as direct and strong solar rays, as well as thermal shocks. Temperatures above 60˚C can lead to failure of the watch and very low temperatures below 0˚C can lead to precision deviations.
If you do not wear your mechanical watch for an extended period of time, you should wind it up at least once a month. In the case of daily wear, the automatic winding of the watch ensures continued winding and/or for the development of the further power reserve under normal conditions. The power reserve enables you to take the watch off at night without having to wind it up again. Have the casing of your watch opened only by an authorised DAMASKO dealer.
Rinsing After each contact with salt water or chlorine water, you should rinse your watch under tap water and then dry it off carefully. Avoid an excessively strong water jet.
Chemicals Direct contact with solvents, detergents, perfume, cosmetics and hazardous gases should be avoided. Substances such as petrol, thinners, nail varnish and adhesives can also attack the casing and the sealants therein, leading to a possible loss of waterproofness. The leather watch strap may also become discoloured.
Accuracy Differing levels of “stress” are placed on a watch depending on the vitality or habits of the wearer. This can lead to timing changes. Fluctuations can occur in the first two months of wear in particular. After 50 to 60 days of wear, the clock rhythm generally settles down, allowing the actual timing to be measured. Should your watch with automatic movement become more than 90 seconds fast per week or more than 20 seconds slow per week after this initial phase, we recommend that you have the watch set more accurately by an expert. Your watch with manualwinding movement should lie between the loss of 15 seconds per week and the gain of 80 seconds per week.
Leather watch straps Leather is a porous natural product. Avoid contact with water or dampness so that it does not become discoloured or deform. Avoid excessively long exposure to the sun’s rays so that it does not fade. Additionally, avoid contact with grease, perfume, cosmetics and chemicals. By treating your strap with special leather care products, you can extend the lifespan of your strap.
Cleaning The soiling of the casing and the watch strap by dust and skin sweat can lead to skin irritations and, in the longer term, to the oxidation of the casing parts. To prevent dirt deposits, clean the casing and the steel strap regularly with tap water and then dry it off with a soft cloth. When cleaning watches with a leather strap, your leather strap should be detached in order to avoid possible contact with water.
Sport/impacts You should avoid strong vibrations and impacts, as occur, for example, when playing golf or tennis or when mountain biking. Moreover, you should not let the watch fall. A mechanical wrist watch is a precision instrument. Repeated and abrupt impacts can impair the accuracy of the clockwork or even damage it.
Strong magnetic fields The watch should never be exposed to strong magnetic fields such as magnets.
Superluminova The luminescent material Superluminova is used for our dials and hands, which are filled with luminous material. Superluminova is phosphorescent and does not contain any radioactivity. The Superluminova material receives its luminescence from daylight or any other artificial light source. Therefore, the watch should be exposed to bright light so that the dial and the hands illuminate in the dark, that is, at night. After some time, the luminescence diminishes; however, it is restored as soon as the watch is exposed to bright light again.
Waterproofness The waterproofness of the DAMASKO watches fulfils the standard according to DIN 8310. Waterproofness is not a permanent property, as existing sealants are subject to the ageing process as well as wear and tear. Temperature fluctuations, heavy impacts and improper treatment accelerate this process.

Technical features
The illumination of the coating with special colour/Superluminova is a consequence of a physical effect. Here, irregularities can occur in luminance and occupancy. However, these do not constitute a defect of the product.
Leather is a natural material and is subject to an ageing process. Wear marks appear due to use of the strap. These wear marks can also occur with all other straps used. However, these do not constitute a defect of the product.
In isolated cases, the coating of the Black models can cause irregular light reflections. However, these do not constitute a defect of the product.
The Damasko factory steel strap is made of ice-hardened stainless steel and is highly resistant. When the watch strap is worn, shiny areas can occur between the individual links. These occur as a consequence of mutual contact between hardened stainless steel components. However, these do not constitute a defect of the product.
All Damasko models with sapphire glass are delivered as antiglare on both sides. Here, a highly resistant antireflection coating is used. However, this coating can wear due to extreme loads, improper treatment and everyday use. However, this does not constitute a defect of the product. Some DAMASKO models have a hand-sanded casing. This can lead to dimensional deviations and/ or width fluctuations on the lugs. However, these do not constitute a defect of the product.

Professional maintenance
The DAMASKO plane swivel can be turned in both directions.
Like any other high-precision instrument, a watch must be maintained regularly so that it is always ensured that it will function perfectly. We cannot give any general information about the frequency with which maintenance should take place, as this depends entirely on the model, the climate and the way a watch is treated and/or worn. Depending on use, a watch should be maintained every 4 to 5 years. Depending on use, waterproofness should be tested at shorter intervals but at least every 2 years. Should you wish to send your watch to our customer service department, we require the following information for smooth processing:
- Name, address, e-mail address and a telephone number on which you can be reached during the day
- As precise an error description as possible
- If possible, please indicate the date of purchase and your customer number (see invoice) or enclose a copy of the invoice/your watch passport.
You can find more detailed information on the process on our website www.damasko.de in our General Repair Conditions. For insurance reasons, we recommend that you make returns to us only as a traceable package. Within Germany, there is the option of a transport-insured return pick-up, if desired. To ensure a smooth process, we ask that you contact our customer service department. Unfortunately, we cannot accept carriage-forward deliveries.
It possesses a main marking. There are various possible uses for this main marking. You can use it to emphasise important time periods. For instance, you can set the marking at the beginning of a time period to be observed or set it so that it is reached when a specified time period ends.

Position 2: Clockwise: correction of the date. Anticlockwise: correction of the day of the week. The day of the week panel is printed in two languages: German and English. When the crown is turned, the chosen day of the week appears either in German or English. The most recently selected language is then continuously displayed.
Position 3: Hand position and second stop. When setting the time, please ensure that the date switches not at midday, but at midnight. To this end, turn the hands forward until the day of the week and the date switch and then set the time.

Stop function Your watch possesses a stop function. With it you can measure or record time periods of up to 11 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds. The stop function is operated with both push-pieces. The upper push-piece starts the short-term measurement when pressed the first time. When it is pressed the second time, the measurement is stopped. When the upper push-piece is pressed again, the short-term measurement is continued. This process can be repeated as often as desired. You can thus add up measured times. When the short-term measurement is stopped, the lower push-piece sets the stop hand to 0 again.

You are already in position 1, the winding position. THE CROWN HAS 3 POSITIONS: Position 1: Winding. Despite a power reserve of 48 hours, we recommend winding up the watch as far as it will go on a daily basis.

The Damasko steel watch strap is designed in such a way that you adapt it to the size of your arm in just a few steps.
Step 2: Separate the links Then pull out the outer links opposite along with the fixing spindle and remove the central link.
Preparation: Outer link
Place the watch on a firm surface with the glass facing downwards. To prevent the glass from being scratched, a soft cloth should be laid between the surface and the glass.
Fixing spindle
Please note that the screws of the first link after the casing cannot be removed. To shorten the strap, the links should be removed from the central area of the strap. Fine-tuning links should be inserted right on the closure.

To remove a central link, both screws of the two adjacent outer links, which are in contact with the central link to be removed on one side, must first be removed. To this end, these must be screwed on using the strap adjustment tool provided and the outer link must be pulled out.
Now join the two free-lying central links using the outer link which the fixing spindles are still screwed into. Insert an outer link into the gap that has now been created and screw it in again by tightening the screws slightly.

Step 1:

Each Damasko steel watch strap comes with a set of fine-tuning links.
Step 2:
Here, pull out only one outer link along with the fixing spindle and put a central link on the free-lying fixing spindle.
Step 3:
Same as step 3: “Join and close”
These can be used if you want to set your steel strap to a length that is longer than an entire link length. Please attach the fine-tuning links as the first outer link right on the closure.
Closure
To this end, release the two screws holding the outer link on both sides and then pull out the link. Now insert the fine-tuning link (marked by a dot on the inner side) into the gap that has been created and screw it in again. In the used condition, a small gap emerges between the closure and the first central link due to the slightly increased length.
