LSCP

Lab Solenoid Control Panel

The Lab Solenoid Control Panel (LSCP) is a UL and CSA certified panel designed to provide utility control in a single area typically located in the prep room. The panel houses the required solenoids and functions as a standalone system. For facilities looking to provide control and safety this panel offers a low cost alternative to systems with separate control and solenoid panels. The NEMA 1, white powder coated panel houses 120VAC solenoid valves for services required in sizes 1/2” through 3” diameter. Gas solenoid valves are UL rated for gas service. A service switch allows the ability to enable/ disable the utility services either by a single switch or by illuminated on/off push buttons for multiple utilities. Maintenance Instructions Preventive Maintenance • Keep the medium flowing through the valve as free from dirt and foreign material as possible. • Periodic exercise of the valve should be considered if ambient or fluid conditions are such that corrosion, elastomer degradation, fluid contamination build up, or other conditions that could impede solenoid valve shifting are possible. The actual frequency of exercise necessary will depend on specific operating conditions. A successful operating history is the best indication of a proper interval between exercise cycles. • Depending on the medium and service conditions, periodic inspection of internal valve parts for damage or excessive wear is recommended. Thoroughly clean all parts. If parts are worn or damaged, install a complete rebuild kit.

Causes of Improper Operation • Incorrect Pressure: Check valve pressure. Pressure to valve must be within range specified on nameplate. • Excessive Leakage: Disassemble valve and clean all parts. If parts are worn or damaged, install a complete ASCO™ Rebuild Kit. ORDERING INFORMATION FOR ASCO™ REBUILD KITS When Ordering Rebuild Kits for ASCO™ valves, order the Rebuild Kit number stamped on the valve nameplate.

Start Up Procedure 1) Check that CB1 and CB2 are in the OFF position. 2) Check that ALL OPERATORS are in the OFF or INACTIVE STATE. All Emergency Stops should be pulled out or INACTIVE. All Cold Water Valve switches should be in the OFF position. All Classroom Service switches should be in the OFF position. 3) Engage the breaker in the main distribution panel (not part of this assembly) and using a Volt Meter, check for 120VAC on TBIP-H band N. 4) Engage CB1 circuit breaker. This will apply power (120 VAC) to the panel.

5) Engage CB2 circuit breaker. This will apply power 120 VAC to the Siemens™ Logo CLASS 1. This unit should power up and green lights on the unit will be illuminated. 6) If there is an alarm in this stage check your field connects, there should be no alarms present. Note: testing this alarm may involve getting permission from the school authorities. System is now ready to proceed to the Operational Procedures. System integrators should fully exercise this procedure before turning the system over for active use.

Installation Guidelines The Classroom Lab Control Panel is housed in a NEMA 1 flush mounted, 15”X 12” X 4” enclosure. The installation area should conform to all NEMA 1 class restrictions for such use. It should be free from standing, running or condensing water environments. Care should be taken to ensure that metal chips and other foreign debris do not enter any other electronic components. Initial Checkout Procedure All wiring should be checked for accuracy before applying power. Double check the termination to the terminal strips to ensure that each wire is in its correct position. All checks outlined below are performed with power off. This means that the incoming 120VAC line power should be Off. 1) Emergency Stop Check - There are several Remote Emergency Operator inputs. The circuit requires a normally closed contact when the operator(s) are in the inactive, or pulled out state. Multiple remotes may he installed. Wire each remote in series such that two wires end up terminated back at the Controller. Using an Ohm Meter, check for zero ohms (or near to) when all operators are in the normal state. Engaging any remote stop should produce an open circuit. Check each remote stop to ensure they are included in the series wiring run.

38

2) Remote Fire Alarm Input - The circuit requires a normally open dry contact from the alarm system source. The Fire Alarm input is located on TB2, 9 and 10. Using an Ohm Meter, check for an open circuit when the alarm is not in the alarm state. If possible, invoke a test alarm and check that the meter reads zero ohms or near to it. 3) Building Management system (BMS) - The circuit requires a normally open dry contact from the BMS source. The BMS input is located on TB2, 11 and 12. Using an Ohm Meter, check for an open circuit when the BMS is inactive. If possible, invoke a test alarm and check that the meter reads zero ohms or near to it. 4) lntruder Alarm Input - The circuit requires a normally open dry contact from the alarm system source. The intruder alarm input is located on TB2, 7 and 8. Using an Ohm Meter, check for an open circuit when the alarm is inactive. If possible, invoke a test alarm and check that the meter reads zero ohms or near to it.

Overview Operational Procedures The system is designed to produce an automatic shutdown of all utility outputs when an alarm condition is received. The alarm conditions consist of the following: 1) Main Emergency operator is engaged on the Main Controller Panel. 2) Building management system alarm is received. 3) A remote Fire Alarm signal is received from a central fire alarm system. 4) Intruder Alert is received. When any of these signals are active, the system will shut down the utility output control relays. It will remain in a shutdown state until the following set of conditions is met. The same set of conditions must be met to bring the controller active from an initial power up sequence:

After each alarm is received. The system must be reset. The exception is the building management system. BMS will turn all systems off when activated. Systems will turn back ON when BMS cleared. To reset the system insert the reset key in “Enable Disable” keyed switch and turn it to disable mode, Turn Electrical switch, HOT water switch, cold water switch and service switch to OFF position. To turn the system ON, make sure all alarms and the Emergency stop buttons in inactive state. Turn the key switch to enable mode, turn the service switch to ON position. The system now is ready. By pressing any utility button ON the illuminated buttons will indicate which utility is active.

1) All alarming conditions are remedied and inactive. 2) All Emergency Stops are in the pulled out, or inactive state.
