Our concept of productivity: high cutting speeds, low running costs and a competitive cost per part. Cutting speeds.

Competitive cost per part.

The benefits of a fiber source combined with Salvagnini’s optic chain – composed of the transport fiber and the proprietary focusing head – work together to generate a laser beam characterized by high power density. That translates to high speed cutting (more than 60 m/min) on medium and thin materials, without sacrificing high quality when cutting thicker materials.

Our concept of flexibility: fast production changes on a wide range of materials and reduced set-up times. High quality cutting with a single optic.

Laser TRADJUST. Laser TRADJUST is a revolutionary series of proprietary functions incorporated into the Salvagnini SiX controller. Laser TRADJUST flawlessly combines the requirements of the application with the trajectories generated by CAMlaser to automatically calculate the modulation of cutting parameters as a function of changes in direction, speed and instantaneous acceleration. With a single, predetermined cutting parameter for every material and thickness, regardless of the cutting profile, the L3 could not be more simple to use.

A wide range of machinable materials. Thanks to the wavelength typical of fiber, the L3 can: ❚ effectively cut even highly reflective materials, such as high purity aluminum alloys, brass and copper – metals extremely difficult to process on traditional CO2 systems; ❚ combine high speeds with high quality cutting of coated materials such as galvanized steel.

The L3 system features a proprietary focusing head developed in-house, that leverages Salvagnini’s extensive field experience to maximize the unique characteristics and high dynamics provided by fiber optic transmission. The single optic head provides high quality cutting across the total range of thicknesses, assuring rapid throughput and eliminating retooling time.

Our concept of automation: flexibility and logistical efficiency for a competitive factory. Exclusive solutions for maximum efficiency. As you would expect from the industry’s automation leader, Salvagnini L3 laser systems can be designed for unmanned operation and are easily incorporated into an Automated Job Shop (AJS) or Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS). With a broad range of sheet handling devices and a full complement of feeding and unloading connections, Salvagnini components automatically and seamlessly optimize throughput – eliminating non-productive operations and costs, while assuring the highest quality of production and a rapid, predictable return on investment. Salvagnini’s modular, building block strategy of automation allows customers to evolve their manufacturing tactics, anywhere from stand-alone products to the highest levels of lean automation.

The Salvagnini pallet changer (CP) makes unmanned operation a reality: during the pallet exchange phase, the table with the processed workpiece always travels beneath the table with the sheet to be cut, avoiding any possibility of cut parts or scrap falling onto the incoming sheet. A simple engineering trick, but surprisingly, turning even the simplest configuration into a highly efficient system.

L3+ADB L3+CP

The ADL and ASL connections automate the process of loading sheets and unloading processed parts, increasing the overall efficiency of the system by eliminating the intermediate handling phases usually performed by an operator. Like almost all Salvagnini products, loading/unloading connections are modular and can be easily integrated with compact, storage towers (MTW, MVL) or with high capacity (MBT, MV) storage towers.

The MCL is Salvagnini’s automatic, integrated system for unloading, separating, and stacking parts produced by laser systems. This component, unique in the marketplace, consists of two rotary manipulators and two grids of separate and independent suction cups that can pick up work pieces weighing as much as 130 kg. More than any other type of connection, the MCL facilitates any number of functional configurations and makes flexible, batch one processing and integration with downstream systems a reality for laser systems.

Our concept of quality: consistent performance, easy use and simple programming. Airplane structure. The principle of a load-bearing beam with an airplane structure, patented by Salvagnini, produces an extremely rigid construction that promotes precise, stable positioning of the focusing head, high dynamics, and easy access to the worktable. The absence of an optical path eliminates many of the limitations of CO2 lasers and drastically reduces inertia of the system, thanks to the lightened and robust structure with a compact kinetic chain. Optimized distribution assures dynamics of up to 2g while keeping energy consumption at enviably low levels.

SRP optical centering sensor. The L3 can be equipped with an optical centering sensor (SRP) that promotes: ❚ the fastest workpiece alignment; ❚ accurate centering necessary to complete processing when punchings, embossing or deep drawing have already been made on the workpiece. SRP is completely integrated into CAMlaser software and is programmable with a simple mouse click.

Software. Salvagnini offers a complete suite of software for management of its laser systems. The many modules that compose the management suite are subdivided into three areas, and assure ease of use, productivity and process integration.

Machine SOFTWARE.

Office SOFTWARE.

Every Salvagnini laser system comes completely equipped with a suite of software packages (JOB.CONSOLE) that allows the operator to manage the system in a simple and intuitive way. All the information required to process a part, to stop, and to restart the machine is at the operator’s fingertips. Particular attention has been JOB.CONSOLE placed on the management of diagnostics (EASYDATA) and on maintenance (MAINTENANCE MANAGER) through user friendly navigation of documentation and proactive management of maintenance checks. In the event the configuration of the system includes automated stores, the related management software, loaded on board the machine, will automatically facilitate the handling of stacks, sheets and parts. The on-board programming suite can be augmented by the SIMLASER simulation package and by NestLaserLight nesting software. These packages allow the operator to create simple programs or to interactively modify those created in the office, and to retrieve records of production data and events, with output in hardcopy or electronic form.

The METALSTUDIO platform’s CAD/CAM+NEST software packages, and the simulation and time-cost analysis packages, are efficient and user-friendly: the passage from drawing to finished product is extremely rapid while operator adjustments on the machine are minimal or unnecessary. By reducing the incidence of machine NESTLASER programming on the shop floor, Salvagnini lasers keep work-in-process low with increased flexibility and responsiveness to the changing needs of the marketplace.

Integration SOFTWARE. Process and management applications are developed inhouse, based on specific needs of individual customers (OPS). They allow the integration of Salvagnini systems with a company’s MRP/ERP system, effecting an automatic flow of information to and from the machine, production programming, and parts manufacture. These custom packages provide a customer increased control, streamlined processes, and a substantial reduction of costs, through the elimination of errors and low value activities.

Our concept of ethics: reduced consumption, safe technology and environmental respect. The electronic source: low energy consumption, zero maintenance.

Total safety: from fiber to the source, to the machine.

Compared to a traditional CO2 laser source, the fiber source provides energy savings of more than 70% and a reduction of running costs by more than 50%. Practically eliminated is the energy consumption during warm up and standby. The laser is immediately ready to go to work when the machine is powered on, and energy consumption during stand-by (machine, 3 kW resonator, chiller and connections) is always less than 5 kW.

Salvagnini’s fiber laser systems are CLASS 1 machines. The machine comes equipped with all the necessary protection to assure absolute safety in compliance with current standards. Salvagnini lasers are completely enclosed and equipped with a protective cap. Observation windows are approved for solid state laser use. The source is equipped with advanced beam reflection control systems on three levels to ensure beam integrity and operational safety. The process fiber has a diameter of just 50 µm, which engenders a very narrow focal beam with reduced risk.
