Description: The purpose of this project is to examine the efficacy of a parent-mediated early intervention model aimed at increasing responsivity for very young children at risk for ASD. Responsibilities: Conduct in-home intervention sessions for 6-8 months with parents of children at risk for ASD aged 14-22 months; administer developmental assessments to toddlers at risk for ASD with an interdisciplinary team; database formation and data entry; intervention fidelity training for masters students and coding.

Sensory Experiences Project Research Assistant for Dr. Grace Baranek

Description: The purpose of this project is to explain the development, functional impact, and pathogenesis of unusual sensory experiences in children with autism, with implications for early detection and intervention. Responsibilities: Develop observational measure of sensory seeking, coding, analyzing results with interdisciplinary team to use mixed methods to code and analyze caregiver accommodation data; manuscript preparation.

Sensory Experiences Project ARRA Supplement Grant Research Assistant for Dr. Grace Baranek

Description: The purpose of this project is to identify subtypes of children, as defined by specific sensory response patterns and determine the stability of these subtypes longitudinally. Responsibilities: Work with interdisciplinary team to analyze data for confirmatory factor analysis and latent profile transition analysis of sensory questionnaire from large, national sample; manuscript preparation.

Using Parent Report to Identify Infants Who Are at Risk for Autism Spectrum Disorder Research Assistant for Dr. Steve Reznick

Description: The purpose of this study is to revise the First Year Inventory parent report screening instrument to extend possible screening age ranges from 9 to 18 months. Responsibilities: Review of ASD and typical development literature; collaborate with multidisciplinary research team to develop and revise screening questions; assist in online survey design and implementation.

Description: The purpose of this study is to determine the sensitivity and specificity of three parent report, ASD specific screening tools based on diagnostic outcomes in a longitudinal study of a community based cohort of children.
