Digital Lighting for all

There are ever increasing demands today for lighting management controls within the commercial lighting market. Driven by legislation through part L of the building regulations, increased taxes for non compliance with the climate change levy, to save on expensive energy costs or simply a desire to improve your lighting control in terms of scene setting or security. With the growing trend towards digital dimmable ballasts, scene setting and lighting control has never been easier. No longer do you need to install an expensive building management system that requires a lighting specialist to carry out the installation. With today’s technology fluorescent dimming with daylight linked occupancy sensors is within the reach of any qualified electrician.

Hills Electrical & Mechanical Contractors has given Hager's Klik LDS the seal of approval by specifying it for their striking Pyramid shaped offices in Edinburgh.

Situated in the middle of the Bilston Glen industrial estate the building aims to create a visual impact with its charcoal grey glass and shape being in stark contrast to the surrounding buildings.

Our very successful KLDS range will continue to be offered for those installations that have fluorescents with non dimmable ballasts, one such installation is shown below.

The company has worked with Hager's Klik LDS lighting installation system on numerous projects. Its fast fit and simple installation within the ceiling void made it ideal for the company's own fast track design and build project.

Emergency lighting also plugs straight into the LDS distribution box whose socket outlets accept either three or four pin Klik plugs. Future maintenance is simple with light fittings simply removed and repaired at bench level or replacement fittings plugged in.

Klik Digital Connection System

Klik have added to their market leading range of unique plug and sockets with a choice of products ideal for the electrical contractor who wants to add lighting control to his portfolio. Using a design based on our very successful Klik Lighting Distribution System (KLDS) we have introduced the Klik Digital Connection System (KDCS) a marshalling box capable of distributing power and data to 4, 6, 8, or 10 digital ballasts. KDCS can be further sub-divided into two circuits for greater flexibility. Two new Klik plugs connect the luminaires to the KDCS, a blue five pin plug for non emergency luminaires and a red auxiliary plug for emergency luminaires. All plugs are factory pre-wired with a new bespoke cable that combines the power and data cables together but allows them to be separated by a double insulation. The screen on the data cable contains a drain wire making the termination of the screening quick and easy.

Using one of our two new digital sensors OS3D for use with DSI ballasts or OS4D for use with DALI ballasts you can offer the following features: ■

Presence detection using passive infrared

Regulating photocell ensures a minimum maintained light level, taking account of the contribution from adjacent luminaires and daylight.

Choice of off delays following the last observed movement after which the lights switch off.

A 6 metre diameter detection pattern.

Hand controller for local dimming and override.

Semi Auto Mode, gives the option of manual switch on automatic switch off when room vacant.

Various options on absence:

All the options can be selected by the installer using the very simple programmer OSDP during the commissioning stage. For lighting specialists who already install lighting management systems the KDCS can be used as part of a larger system in terms of the distribution box.

Enhanced Capital Allowances Enhanced capital allowances (ECA’s) are a tax relief in the form of capital allowances on companies investments in designated energy-saving plant and machinery. The benefit to you the installer is that your customer can commission work, knowing they can claim back part of the costs, making the investment less of a risk. For more details on ECA’s and how they can be claimed contact us for an information sheet.

- dim to 25% or minimum level, then off after a further 3 hours - dim to 25% or minimum and maintain that level. Ideal for security. - dim to off progressively - dim to off immediately after the delay period elapses. Large terminal area for ease of installation.

Many options can be selected during the programming stage.

Klik Digital Connection System KDCS Two occupancy sensors per KDCS box The KDCS is capable of accepting one or two occupancy sensors, by simply moving the switch found within the terminal compartment the KDCS can be divided into circuit A and B, allowing the installer to tighten the area controlled by each sensor. Or alternatively the KDCS can be operated as one single circuit. Wiring time is reduced using KDCS as only one termination of the incoming mains and data cables is required in the very ample sized termination section. Each luminaire can then be mains and data fed via a pre-wired plug, plugged into the KDCS. All flexible cords are 1.0 mm2 Low Smoke Zero Halogen to maintain a halogen free installation from all the Klik products. Code Luminaire KDCS Occupancy Sensor
