BUILDERS CLUB September News 2003 Hello Builders Club Kiwanis & Faculty Advisors, By the time you receive this electronic newsletter, your Builders Clubs should be ready to begin meetings after the Labor Day weekend! Flyers placed around school giving time, date, and location of BC meetings; flyers at the public library, and/or a letter to the editor in the local newspaper. We have a wonderful organization for our middle school/junior high students - but it seems to be a well-kept secret! The Builders Club members have the advantage and the opportunity to develop leadership abilities that can provide them a strong foundation for a better future. We must keep in mind that our work will help to ensure a better future for our youth and for us! When we are no longer active in our communities the youth we guide today will be there for us tomorrow!

FACULTY ADVISORS: please know that the Kiwanis service club in your community is the Builders Club sponsor and the Kiwanis members do not expect you to do all of the work alone. The Kiwanis clubs do have Builders Club advisors or Youth Committee members who will help each of you to keep the momentum going all year. They understand the Kiwanis structure; they know or can find out questions about “How To”, the due dates for reports, and can assist with the Contest and Awards Program, club projects and activities, and can really facilitate all matters pertaining to the Builders Clubs in your communities. Additionally, you have the Pacific Northwest District Builders Club administrator who will assist, and Kiwanis International Sponsored Organizations and Programs Department. On the following pages you will find the contact information for all who have been mentioned above, you will find information on the dues increase, and a notice from Kiwanis International explaining the details.

Kiwanis Advisors Please read and study the Builders Club web pages www.buildersclub.org Click on Bulletin/Resources and scroll down the pages for needed forms and materials. An Acrobat Reader is needed). Reader Reader).

MEMBERSHIP: When the club has approximately 10 to 12 members send in the names and dues right away. Please do not wait until the membership is around 20 to 25 or more - and possibly miss the deadline of November 1st. The members who paid early deserve to be full-fledged members, and the club deserves to be considered an active club. Be sure to send in as many members’ names with dues before Nov 1st, that is possible to do so using the Roster Invoice - then use the New Member Add form to continue to add to your membership roster throughout the year. MEMBERSHIP ROSTER INVOICE: This is an important document. When it is sent to Kiwanis International, on time, your club remains on the Active list. Builders club information and materials will continue to be sent to the advisors. If you do NOT receive a Membership Roster Invoice by mid September, contact the District Builders Club Administrator: Joan Russell, [email protected] Or 541-347-3683.
