Kipling Theater Program is holding registration and auditions for the production of Peter Pan Junior for all interested 4th and 5th grade students. The Children’s Theatre Company started 22 years ago with a goal of encouraging the creative spirit of all participants involved. Their students develop confidence in voice, movement and imagination. The Children’s Theatre Company provides innovative, high quality theatre education for all abilities and levels of interest. The faculty is made up of experienced theatre educators skilled in youth development. All performers in the show will get a speaking, singing and dancing role. The highly accredited instructors work with the students every step of the way, from teaching weekly rehearsals to directing the final production. Students will be given a rehearsal CD and script for practicing at home. The program strives to teach students to work as a team, learn, make friends and have fun! For more information on The Children’s Theater Company see their website at www.thechildrenstheatreco.com. Meet the Director: Margo Proeh Margo has been an instructor, creator of dramatic programs and actress in the Chicago community for over 23 years. Her successful career on the stage and on-camera shifted gears after starting a family, and she found her true passion in educating and inspiring young talent. She is now a recognized specialist in the Children’s Theater as well as a member of the SAG-AFTRA. She started teaching at the Gorton Center for the Performing Arts/Apple Tree Theater in Highland Park, The Winnetka Community House and the Principle Scholars Program at the University of Illinois Chicago Campus. With years of experience teaching musical theater and more than 100s of shows later the company has now expanded to locations in Highland Park, Chicago, Park Ridge, Oak Park/River Forest, Vernon Hills, District 214, and Norridge. Margo learned to embrace her gifts of strong presence and energy and choose a career in teaching musical theater with the goal of sparking a transformation in each student where they can see their true potential. Margo founded and produces the Chicago Youth Dance Exhibition, a unique event highlighting the Chicago youth dance companies and crews. C.Y.D.E. celebrates the talent, dedication and passion of young youth and teen dancers in the Chicago dance industry, across the U.S. and around the World. She also runs Youth Talent Network with her colleague, Willow.

Musical Director: Sami Wolf Sami Wolf is an actor and musician born and raised in Chicago, IL. She has been performing long form improv since high school where she got her first taste of improvising around Chicago. After attending Emerson College, she returned home to pursue the improv conservatory at Second City, which she graduated from in May of 2015. Sami can be seen doing improv on her two-person team, The Blair Wolf Project, and solo doing stand-up. She can be seen performing all around the city of Chicago. Aside from her comedic proclivity, Sami has been musically inclined from a young age. Classically trained vocally throughout her high school career, she began playing guitar and piano after graduating. Once she got the hang of her instruments, which she is primarily self-taught on, Sami began to write her own music. Her style is heavily influenced musically by artists such as Amy Winehouse, Adele, Paloma Faithland lyrically by Eminem, Atmosphere, and Angel Haze-to name a few. Her style has evolved into a unique sound that blends indie/singer-songwriter elements into acoustic rap. Sami has had two independent demos produced in the last three years and currently working on her first full-length EP, which is set to release fall of 2016. Assistant Director: Dre McLaurin DeAndre McLaurin (Dre) has been involved in the entertainment industry for over 5 years working with A-Z Entertainment as a dancer, DJ, and emcee. He has taught hiphop classes for children with a wide range of ages and has also taught dance fitness classes to adults. He has recently received the opportunity to begin Deejaying on the cruise ships on Chicago’s coveted Navy Pier. Starting as a dancer Dre quickly found his skill and love for Deejaying and emceeing. Overall, Dre has the ability to work with many different types of audiences no matter the demographic and always puts his best effort forward.

Do you wish to be a Parent Volunteer? (Please circle one)

YES

NO

(Most of the volunteers that we are looking for will be around the time of the play, ticket sales, putting on microphones, cast party, backstage, etc. We realize that you have jobs and other time commitments. We appreciate any time that you can give and volunteers help to keep the costs down, which is always a plus!!) Due to the privacy act in the district, we need your permission to video the show. This is a very special keepsake for everyone, so I urge you to agree to the taping. It will not be used on any websites, and is strictly for the private use of our families to enjoy seeing your own child perform.

STUDENT’S AGREEMENT I understand that too many unexcused absences could result in my role being reassigned to another cast member. My behavior at rehearsals will be cooperative and respectful. Not only do we need to respect each other, we need to respect Kipling School and its property, along with the belongings of other students. Any behavior that is in question will be addressed. If the negative behavior continues that student will be dismissed from the musical. I understand that is my responsibility to learn my part in the play (lines, dances, songs) so that play rehearsals can run smoothly. We ask that parents assist in working with their child to learn their part in the play. It is our goal to provide a fun theatrical experience for everyone involved. Our behavior policy is firm so that we can avoid any issues of disturbance. Our after school programs are designed around creating staged musical theatre performances through the voices, visions, and ideas of our students. Therefore we need everyone’s cooperation, commitment, and teamwork.
