KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Status Screen The status screen of the KIP C7800 displays all of the necessary information a user will need when submitting prints. This screen displays the following information: •

Media - Roll Size, Media Type and Media Name

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Toner The Toner screen displays the current level of toner available for each color Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow.

Indicates 100% toner or less available

Indicates 75% toner or less available

Indicates 50% toner or less available Indicates 25% toner or less available

Media The Media section of the Status Screen displays the currently loaded media and all of the information about it. This includes the Amount of media remaining, the Media Size and the Name of the loaded media. (ex. Below - Roll 1 is 25% full, it is a 36” roll, it is a Bond Media and the name of the media is 24# Premium).

Indicates that there is media loaded into the Bypass tray and that it is ready for printing. (ex. Bypass - full, it is a 17”x11” Cut sheet, it is a Bond Media and the name of the media is 24# Premium).

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen NOTE: Gloss and Heavy setting will print color images at a reduced rate due to various internal printer setting requirements for these special media types.

Sub-Type The Sub-Type settings allow the user to choose from a number of available Medias that have been set up on the C7800

Selecting the Sub-Type button will bring up the Sub-Type menu.

This menu will display all of the available Medias and the names given to then during set-up. Selecting the media buttons will allow the current name to be edited or if the button is blank a name to be assigned.

If editing or adding a media type the following screen will appear. Type the name to be used and select Enter.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Size The Size Selections allows for the setting of the size of the Media that is available in the KIP C7800 for that specific Deck.

Bypass If the bypass tray is to be used and has Media loaded into it the Bypass section will allow the setting of what media is to be used. Note: In this example the Bypass is not loaded so this section is not active.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Print The File-to-Print function of the KIP C7800 makes it very easy for a user to go to pre-configured drives and select files to be printed right from the C7800 touch screen. The image below shows the available locations configured on page 4 of the service screens on the left and the available files on the right side.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Selecting files to be printed To open the File-to-Print screen select the Print Button. This will open the File-to-Print screen. On the left side of the screen select the desired folder. On the Right side of the screen select the files to be printed. Doing so will add the selected files to the bottom section of the Fileto-Print screen. Double clicking a selected file will view the file. Note: There is a limit of ten (10)

files

that

can

be

selected at one time. The following

To remove files that are not going to be printed select the Remove Button. This will allow you to select the files to be removed from the bottom section of the screen prior to sending the job.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen File Setup The next step in the File-to-Print process is to set up or select the method in which to print each selected file.

The different sections of the print setup screen are: •

Color Option – Allows for the selection of preset filters that will apply to a specific type of file to be printed.



Adjustment – Allows for the adjustment of colors prior to printing as well as brightness.



Rotation – Allows for the Rotation of the files(s) to be printed.



Standard Percentages – Apply standard enlargement\reduction percentages from 25% to 400%.



Reset all files to Default – Resets all selected files to the default print settings.



Apply as Default – Allows the user to create a filter setting and then apply this as the print default.



Apply to All – Applies selected filter to all files selected.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Print History When Print History is enabled users have the ability to walk up to the KIP C7800 and select previously printed jobs and re –print them. From the main screen select the “Print History” button.

When the Print History screen opens previously printed jobs will be displayed and can be selected for reprinting. The number of jobs shown is controlled by the administrator and can be set from 10 to 100.

Once the job to be reprinted has been selected the number of sets can be set for 1 to 10 and then the job can be re-submitted.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Login Selecting the Login button from the main screen will bring up the Login page. This will allow specific users to log into the system (this can be made to be a requirement in order to use the C7800). There are three specific areas that can be required: Requester – User names can be entered so that users can select their name (password may be set and required) and all entered information will then be logged.

Job Number – Job Numbers can be entered so that users can select specific job numbers to be associated to the job they are printing (password may be set and required and all entered information will then be logged.

Description – Descriptions can be entered so that users can select Specific Job Descriptions to be associated with the job they are printing (password may be set and required) and all entered information will then be logged.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Build Sheet – Once the KIP C7800 is setup and configured a Build sheet can be printed that will list all of the pertinent information related to the KIP C7800. This build sheet will include information that will be very helpful to the technician and is a good thing to keep on hand.

Self-Clean – Selecting the Self Clean button will start the cleaning of the main charger units.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen About – This section displays the pertinent information of the C7800 and is easily accessible by the user.

Density – Allows the user to make adjustments to the amount of toner being applied to the print for each of the color CMY and K. Left side is lighter progressing darker to the right. The center position is default.

Density Control – allows the C7800 to automatically compensate for the quality of the output. Off – Disables the Automatic Image Quality System Auto Standard – Enables the Quality Image Control System which is then checked at regular predefined intervals. Auto Fine - Enables the Quality Image Control System which is then checked at regular predefined intervals with an increased accuracy. Manual - Enables the Quality Image Control System which is checked at that time when the button is selected. KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Execute - After selection of one of the buttons, this sets the desired density control. Manual Fine - Enables the Quality Image Control System which is checked at that time when the button is selected with and increased accuracy.

Power Settings The KIP C7800 incorporates timers to save power and place the printer in “cold sleep mode” to suit individual company production requirements. These timers can be used to automatically turn off the printer when the “office is closed”, for example overnight. Energy Star Settings – Energy Star compliant settings require that the printer goes to Warm Sleep after 15 minutes and into Cold Sleep after 90 minutes of inactivity. There are two sleep mode settings to choose from, only one can be active at a time and these are locked by default in the Services settings.

1. Warm/Cold Sleep Timers – This timer can be set to put the printer into a warm/cold sleep mode after a predetermined period of inactivity. 2. Sleep Time – This time is used in conjunction with the computers clock and is used to put the Printer to sleep at a pre-set time and wake the printer back up at a pre-set time. Set the timers by pressing on the hour, minutes as needed. If the printer is required during the “sleep” period, it will “awake”, produce the prints and then “fall asleep “again”, 15 minutes later.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Service The service section allows a qualified technician access to the service modes of the KIP C7800. This section has multiple pages of Service Settings and is password protected. To enter the service mode from the Config Screen select the service button and enter the password to continue (If access is required please contact your authorized dealer).

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Service Software The KIP Service software is used by a trained technician and is built into the User Interface for ease of use and convenience.

When the Service Software button is selected the following message will appear. If “Yes” is select the following service window will open.

This will allow the technician to perform service functions.

Reset Timer KIP systems can be configured to revert to the Log-In screen after a predetermined period of inactivity. From this screen, users must enter a username and password before use (if required by system administrator).

Accounting When selected this button will import settings that have been pushed to the KIP C7800 via another workstation by an administrator.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Additional Sizes When set to “Standard” (default) Standard media sizes will be selectable from the Media menu. 17”, 18”, 22”, 24”, 30”, 34”, 36 When set to “Special” additional media sizes will also be displayed. 11”, 12”, 15”, 17”, 18”, 22”, 24”, 30”, 34”, 36”

Print Allows the technician to disable use of the Print menu.

Color Grouping Color Grouping can be either Enabled or Disabled. When Color Grouping is Enabled Jobs that arrive in the queue that have mixed sets (monochrome and color files) will be sorted and all color files will be printed first followed by the monochrome files. When Color Grouping is disabled Jobs that arrive in the queue that have mixed sets (monochrome and color files) will be printed as they were sent.

Units Set the system from “English Mode” to “Metric Mode” by selecting the English or Metric button. This will change the output KIP System to that unit of measure. Please note that the printer must be set to the correct size mode for proper print function.

IPS Standby Works in conjunction with the sleep mode settings. When enabled this will allow the Sleep Mode settings of the printer to function as expected while leaving the controller awake and in a ready state.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Default Menu This allows the technician to set the printer Graphical User Interface (GUI) to default to the screen most used. •

Status – This is the main screen displaying the Toner, Media and Current Job List.



Media – This selection will default to the media screen that displays what is currently in each deck.



Print Queue – Default to the Print Queue displaying what is currently in the queue to be printed.



Print – Defaults to the Print screen allowing user the ability to easily build and submit print jobs.

Back up Selecting the Back Up button will allow the technician to select what needs to be backed up including: •

KIP Track Info – Users, Distribution and Description Settings used for Print KIP Track



Logs and Meters – Print Logs, Color Logs, and Meter Reports



Configuration Files - IPSUI_cfg.xml, Winuntd.ini, WinUntd.out and WinReq.ini

Reboot IPS This button will restart the KIP, when the system is not responding / printing correctly

Bypass Enables/Disables the ability to use the Bypass tray on the KIP C7800

History Size If Job history is On the History size will be set to 25 gig (20 % of the hard drive) If the History Size button is set to Off then the ability to print from history from KIP Print or KIP PrintNet will be disabled.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Print History Size The Print History Size button has the values of 10, 20, 30, 50, 70, 90 and 100. This value is how many jobs will be displayed on the main screen when the Print History button is selected

Long Print Margin “Long print trailing blank setting” is an option to set whether the KIP C7800 adds a 44” (1100mm) blank to the trail edge and a 16” (400mm) margin at the lead edge for long prints (longer than 2x standard length). The blank areas at the lead and trail edges are added to each sheet for more precise color registration throughout the printing process of a long print image.

Factory Restore Selecting the Factory Restore button will allow a technician to restore the local C:\ of the KIP to Factory by using the Restore image stored on the hard drive in a hidden partition. This will take approximately 45 min.

Network When setting up the KIP Printer on the Network at the site the KIP comes already pre-configured for DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and if plugged into the network will automatically receive an IP Address from the DHCP Server. If the Site is not using a DHCP server to dish out IP address it will be necessary to assign a Static IP Address (select the Manual Entry button) to the KIP Printer. The onsite network administrator will need to supply all of the valid information for the IP Address scheme that will be applied to the KIP Printer.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Key Code This is where the key code to unlock purchased options is entered. Selecting the Key Code Button will bring up the following window displaying current Options and allowing for the entry of the Key Code. Please contact your reseller for the purchased codes for your printer.

IPS Setup Selecting the KIP setup button and then rebooting will launch the Setup Wizard such as a new installation.

Card Reader Used for “Felica” card reader integration.

Folder Enables/Disables the communication with a Folder.

Default Menu Allows for the selection of what the default screen will be on the C7800 Touchscreen display.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Time Time sets the current time for the Printer.

Media Sub-Type Enables/Disables the ability to select the Sub-Type Menu from the Media selection window.

Configuration Media Used to set the default media that will be used in conjunction with the Cloud printing. If no specific media is set via the “Key Words” in the body of the e-mail this media will be used as the default.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Printer Serial Number The KIP Printer serial number can be entered here for convenience. Having this available on the screen makes it very easy to retrieve if necessary.

Temporary KIP Track Permissions – when KIP Track practices are being used this section is used to activate the requirement for a user to have to login to use the software. Once logged in the information entered can be used for billing purposes.

KIP C7800 - Touchscreen Selecting “Set” on one of the Available drives will bring up the following window. Here the technician can select the buttons to enter the correct information (provided to them by the IT Administrator) to configure the path that files will be available in. •

Destination Host – the Name or IP Address of the Host where the files are located



Share Path – Name of the folder in the shared path where the files are located



Login Information –Domain Name (if used) of the for where to access this location



Login name and Password of a user that has access to the location being set up



Test will test the setting to confirm the provided information is correct.



Select Ok to accept the settings.

Once the information has been entered and tested to be valid “OK” will return to the main screen of Service Page 4 and display the entered information.
