First workshop 1937

1937

Karl Mayer sets up a mechanical workshop, and 10 years later the company starts with the production of tricot machines.

1947

The general market development called for the company‘s international orientation and for the export of machinery: Therefore „worldwide customer-oriented“ became our key slogan.

1955

Foundation of the first overseas subsidiary in Clifton, USA. In the next few years subsidiaries were also established in Brazil, Great Britain and Greensboro, USA.

1968

Start of production activity at KARL MAYER in Japan, later NIPPON MAYER Co. Ltd. Fukui.

1986

Foundation of KARL MAYER Hong Kong as a sale and service enterprise.

1991

Extension of warp preparation into the weaving industry.

1992

Takeover of MALIMO Maschinenbau GmbH in Chemnitz, today the head office of the business unit „Technical Textiles“.

1995

Foundation of KARL MAYER Textile Machinery Ltd. in Wujin near Shanghai in China with 28.000 m² production.

Takeover of Rotal s.r.l., Italy.

1999

KARL MAYER celebrates the start of production in the company‘s new building in Wujin / China and the 100% takeover of the company shares

2007

70th company anniversary. Opening of the new Development Center for about 200 employees.

2007/08 Takeover of warp preparation product ranges of Sucker-Müller, Griffin and Benninger. KARL MAYER China 2008

2008

Official opening of the new factory building of KARL MAYER (China) Ltd. with a production area of 60.000 m².

2009

Formation of Karl Mayer India Private Ltd. in Mumbai, India to provide comprehensive Service in India

2010

KARL MAYER delivers 100,000th warp knitting machine.

2012

Establishment of Karl Mayer Academy India in Surat, India

2013

Acquisition of LIBA Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH, Germany.

2014

Opening of Karl Mayer India Assembly plant in Ahmedabad, India
