Hello everyone! We are very pleased to announce our 2016 productions: “THE SNOW QUEEN” “TROY” and “DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE”

v We would like to present these three well-known stories as we believe that students must always be exposed to “the classics” which are essential for their general knowledge and cultural background. As educators we have the responsibility of showing new generations the great value these stories have.

v The Company’s version: Dr. Jekyll is a prestigious doctor who is working on a new and dangerous experiment, which may change the history of humankind. Poole is his loyal servant and Mrs Kent is the housekeeper. Everything is at peace at Dr. Jekyll’s residence, but the appearance of a mysterious man called Edward Hyde, changes the doctor’s behaviour and seems to have influence over him. In a dark black night, Ms. Reilly, a new girl in town, witnesses a crime and now her life is at risk. Mr. Utterson, Dr. Jekyll’s lawyer and dearest friend, is helping the police in the crime investigation and looks after Ms. Reilly. The plot turns gloomy when all the evidences point to Mr. Hyde as the possible murderer. Now Dr. Jekyll is in danger and Mr. Hyde must be caught. But the doctor trusts Mr. Hyde. In addition to this, Ms. Lanyon, a woman who is interested in science and chemistry, falls in love with Dr. Jekyll. But she soon suspects that something odd is going on with the new experiment. So, what is this revolutionary experiment? Who is Mr. Hyde and why does he have influence over Dr. Jekyll? Is Mr. Hyde a murderer? You will soon find out about this classical story of mystery and suspense because “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” is coming in August!

K TEACHER’S GUIDE k K ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Robert Louis Stevenson was born in 1850 in Edinburgh, Scotland. At the age of 17, he enrolled at Edinburgh University to pursue engineering, following in his father’s footsteps. However, Stevenson never became an engineer or a lawyer, his next course of study. Instead, he followed his dream of becoming a writer. Stevenson met his future wife, Fanny Osbourne, in France, and the two spent much of their life traveling around the world. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which is really a short story, was considered Stevenson’s breakthrough book. He also wrote the popular adventure books, Kidnapped and Treasure Island. He died in 1894 in Samoa, where friends and neighbours fondly called him Tusitalia—“a teller of tales.” Stevenson will always be remembered for his stories that capture the excitement, adventure, and mystery of faraway places—as well as the strange nature of the human heart and mind.

In addition to this, Ms. Lanyon, a woman who is interested in science and chemistry, falls in love with Dr. Jekyll. But she soon suspects that something odd is going on with the new experiment. When Dr. Jekyll decides to leave his fortune to Mr. Hyde, Mr. Utterson immediately starts to keep a close eye on the mysterious heir. In the dark night, the killer stalks again and Ms. Reilly is in danger. Now the killer is after her, because she is the only witness of the cold murder, but thanks to Mr. Utterson, she is saved from being killed. After checking all the evidences, Mr. Utterson finally discovers who the real killer is and starts a ferocious race to reveal his identity before he kills again. Is Mr. Hyde the real murderer?

POWDER: (noun) a dry substance made up of very tiny pieces of something. The powder is made from the roots of the plant. Mix together the different powders.

WILL: (noun) a legal document in which a person states who should receive his or her possessions after he or she dies.

CHAMBER: (noun) formal + old-fashioned: a person’s bedroom or other private room. The queen’s personal chambers.
