FILA CADET TRIALS: 16 or 17 years of age (born in 1997 or 1998); 15 year olds (born in 1999) may compete with written parental consent. Please be aware that in order to be eligible (to qualify) to compete in the FILA Cadet Trials, you must compete in the current Canadian Championships and you must: 1 – Place top 3 as a CADET at the current Canadian Championships; OR 2 – Place top 5 as a 1st year JUVENILE at the current Canadian Championships. If you are a 1st year Juvenile that is eliminated by a 2nd year Juvenile that places in the top 5, your coach must submit a written petition to the Domestic Development Manager or other designated Wrestling Canada staff to be permitted to compete in the Trials. MEN’S FREESTYLE 39 - 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 63, 69, 76, 85, 100 kg WOMEN: 36 - 38, 40, 43, 46, 49, 52, 56, 60, 65, 70 kg NOTE: All athletes will be required to provide their date of birth and circle whether they are a 1st or 2nd year juvenile on their weigh-in slip in the spot provided. FILA CADET GRECO-ROMAN CHAMPIONSHIPS (NEW): 16 or 17 years of age (born in 1997 or 1998). MEN’S GRECO-ROMAN (NEW): 39 - 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 63, 69, 76, 85, 100 kg NOTE: Athletes CANNOT compete in both FILA CADET TRIALS (Men’s Freestyle) and the FILA CADET Greco-Roman Championships as they are scheduled to take place at the same time. All registrations must be received by the National Office no later than March 14, 2014 (by email to: [email protected] or by fax 613-748-5756).

REGISTRATION

   

All athletes / coaches must be registered members of their Provincial Association. All participants must register using the Wrestling Canada Registration Form. The Wrestling Canada Registration Form must be signed by the P/TSO President. Please check with your P/TSO to determine if you have any additional registration requirements.

All LATE registrations will be subject to a late fee of $25 per athlete (no exceptions). All LATE registrations will be registered as “independent”. All SCRATCHED entries within 3 days of weigh-in day will be subject to a $25 fee payable to Wrestling Canada.   COACHES 

All coaches must register using the Wrestling Canada Registration Form (must include your NCCP certification number). Coaches must be fully CERTIFIED in NCCP Competition-Introduction to be eligible to coach in the corner during the event. (Make sure you have completed the online “Making Ethical Decisions” evaluation at www.coach.ca and have evaluated by a certified evaluator). NCCP coaching certification registration forms, submitted by Learning Facilitators (LF), Evaluators (E), and P/TSOs, will be accepted NO LATER than the registration deadline for the Canadian Championships in any given year, for the purposes of checking and approving coaching certification for coaching eligibility at such Canadian Championships, except at the discretion of the VP Development on reasonable grounds. Requests for exceptions must be submitted to the Domestic Development Manager in writing at the earliest possible time. For 2014, forms must be submitted no later than March 14, 2014.

Payment of entry fees will be done on-site during the registration period. Cheques or other forms of payment are made payable to: GUELPH WRESTLING CLUB. $70.00 – Men’s and Women’s Freestyle (includes a $20 Wrestling Canada surcharge) $45.00 – Men’s and Women’s Greco-Roman only (includes a $20 Wrestling Canada surcharge) $35.00 – FILA Cadet Trials (Men`s and Women`s Freestyle) $35.00 – FILA Cadet Greco-Roman Championships (men’s Greco-Roman) ENTRY FEES

***An additional $50 fee (National Program fee) will be added to EACH athlete’s registration at the Canadian Championships. This fee will be used exclusively to off-set the cost of National Team programming for that specific age group (i.e. money collected from Juvenile Canadian Championship registration will off-set the cost of the U18 Team programming; money collected from Cadet Canadian Championship registration will off-set the cost of FILA Cadet National Team programming). Athletes wrestling more than one style (Men’s / Women’s Freestyle AND Greco) will only be required to pay the fee once per Canadian Championships. Please check with your P/TSO to determine if any additional fees apply. 

RULES

  

Wrestling Canada 2013-2014 rules will apply with a modified double elimination bracket system. Competitors must be members in good standing with their P/TSO and Wrestling Canada. Men’s and Women’s Greco-Roman competition is open to all competitors. Men’s and Women’s Freestyle competition is closed and only Canadian citizens and those individuals with landed immigrant status may compete. Legal proof of age and citizenship must be provided at the time of registration. Landed immigrants (permanent residents) are INELIGIBLE to wrestle in the FILA Cadet Trials and FILA Cadet Greco-Roman Championships.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION

TRANSFER BETWEEN HOTEL AND COMPETITION VENUE The venue is easy walking distance from the host hotels but ground transportation between the host hotel and the competition venue will be provided for all registered participants (athletes, coaches, support staff, officials, dignitaries and Wrestling Canada staff). Transportation schedules will be posted at the hotels and competition venue.

REGISTRATION (THURSDAY, APRIL 3 R D , 2014) Please be reminded that the following documentation will be required to be submitted for all athlete registrants at ON-SITE REGISTRATION at the upcoming 2014 Cadet / Juvenile Canadian Championships:  

Signed pre-competition medical screening form Legal proof of age and citizenship, including photo IDENTIFICATION (ORIGINALS, not copies): o Passport (for Canadian citizens) OR o Landed Immigrant Card (in the case of landed immigrants) OR o Birth certificate with accompanying photo ID (government issued photo ID including a driver’s licence, provincial health card) OR o Birth certificate with accompanying photo ID (Northern Affairs Band Card for Aboriginal Canadians)

Men’s and women’s freestyle is open only to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants. Men’s and women’s Greco-roman is open to all competitors. For those athletes and / or wrestling clubs that have outstanding invoices due with Wrestling Canada, they will need to be paid prior to registration. A Wrestling Canada representative will be on hand to take payment. NOTE: the athletes and wrestling club will lose their “member in good standing” status until all outstanding invoices are paid. Loss of status will result in any athletes from the club NOT being able to compete in the Championships. FILA CADET TRIALS REGISTRATION (SATURD AY, APRIL 5 T H , 2014) Registration for FILA Cadet Trials will take place on Saturday, April 5th, 2014. Payment for Trials will be made at this time for those athletes eligible to compete (see below). FILA Cadet Trials (all styles) is open only to Canadian citizens. FILA Cadet Trials are the selection event for the 2014 Cadet National Team program, including the 2014 Cadet Pan American Championships which are taking place at the beginning of May in Brazil. As a result of the short turnaround time between these two events and the required administrative paperwork to be completed including visa processing, we will only be accepting those athletes who have already have a Canadian passport as proof of citizenship for the Cadet Trials.

ELIGIBILITY FOR FILA CADET TRIALS FILA CADET TRIALS: 16 or 17 years of age (born in 1997 or 1998); 15 year olds (born in 1999) may compete with written parental consent. In order to be eligible (to qualify) to compete in the FILA Cadet Trials (men’s and women’s freestyle), you must compete in the 2014 Canadian Championships and must: 1 – place top 3 as a CADET at the 2014 Cadet Canadian Championships, OR 2 – place top 5 as a 1st year JUVENILE at the 2014 Juvenile Canadian Championships. If you are a 1 st year JUVENILE that is eliminated by a 2nd year Juvenile that places in the top 5, your coach must submit a written petition to the Wrestling Canada staff member to be permitted to compete in the Trials. FILA Cadet Trials (men’s Greco-roman) is open to all FILA Cadet age eligible male athletes. NOTE: Athletes CANNOT compete in both FILA Cadet Trials (men’s FS) and the FILA Cadet Trials (men’s GR) as they are scheduled to take place at the same time.

PARKING FOR CADET-JUVENILE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Parking at the University is free on Saturday and Sunday but requires a parking pass for Thursday and Friday. If you plan on driving to the venue, parking day passes will be available for $10 at registration as well at the front door of the field house. If parents are coming to watch, please inform them of the parking situation. If they are coming Friday and buying a pass at the venue, they should put a note on their windshield informing the parking officers they are gone to pick up a pass.
