MISS IOWA PRINCESS CAMP INFORMATION DEADLINE TO REGISTER AND BE RECOGNIZED IN THE MISS IOWA PROGRAM IS APRIL 30.

WHO CAN BE A PRINCESS? The recommended age to participate is a young lady at least 5 years of age and no older than 12 by June 1st. approval is required for interested participants outside the recommended age range.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MISS IOWA REPRESENTATIVES Miss Iowa and Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Teen contestants will have several opportunities to mentor Princesses during Miss Iowa week. Princesses will be mentored in the attributes of a future Miss America, which include appearance when in public, manners, kindness, and service to others and her community.

APPLICATIONS To make the most of your Princess Camp experience, Princesses should complete and submit the entry forms immediately. Local programs that have selected princesses should ensure all forms have been submitted and payment is made.

PRINCESS CAMP FEE The fee is $300 for the first princess and $280 for additional princesses from the same family or, $275 for a princess who participated in a local’s princess experience but does not have a state princess crown, $250 for returning Princesses using her prior Princess Camp crown or a princess who received the state princess crown through a local pageant princess program. The fees may be paid by the family or the applicant may obtain a sponsorship from businesses, family, friends, or a combination of all three.

PROGRAM BOOK/WEBSITE PHOTO REQUIREMENTS Each Princess must submit a .jpeg photo to, [email protected] by April 30. The photo should be vertical and in sharp focus. High resolution of 300 dpi is needed for best reproduction quality. (A school photo will work.) Keep the hair off the face so it does not hide it or cast shadows on it. Do not cover the face with hair, hands, jewelry or clothing. The Princess should be looking forward and the full head must be shown. Princess Camp participants will be featured in the Miss Iowa Program Book. Please include the name of the Princess exactly as it should appear in the program book. The photo, all forms and the entry fee must be submitted by the deadline of April 30, to appear in the program book.

DRESS REQUIREMENTS AND ACTIVITIES All information in regards to the attire for the show production number will be decided by the producer. A detailed list will be provided closer to Miss Iowa week. A white dress, knee to tea length will be needed for Saturday evening’s competition (the finals for Miss Iowa/ Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Pageant).

PROGRAM BOOK AD SALES Each Princess is encouraged to sell at least one page in the Miss Iowa Program book. The Princess selling the most pages* will receive 2 free season tickets to the Miss Iowa/Iowa’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, and two free Miss Iowa Commemorative Program Books! A Value of $240! The top selling Princess will also have the opportunity to help onstage with the crowning of Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Teen and Miss Iowa. (*A minimum of two pages must be sold to qualify.)

CROWN AND T-SHIRTS The Miss Iowa Princess Crown is the official Miss America Princess Crown, modeled after the official Miss America Crown. The crown is not a toy and should be handled with care. It may be worn during official appearances as a Miss Iowa Princess. If the crown is damaged, it is the responsibility of the Princess and her family to replace it at a cost of $55, plus shipping. One t-shirt will be provided to each Princess. Additional t-shirts may be purchased at $15 each.

ACCOMMODATIONS, TRANSPORTATION AND MEALS All Miss Iowa Princesses’ family and/or friends are responsible for their housing, transportation, and meals during their stay in Davenport. Information regarding the Pageant Host Hotel with Miss Iowa rates will be forwarded at a later date. The Pageant Host Hotel is recommended for your stay.

BACKSTAGE GENERAL RULES No one is permitted backstage at any time, except security, stage personnel, and pageant officials.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE Princesses will arrive mid-week of Miss Iowa Week to check in. Then the fun begins! They will have scheduled activities throughout the week ending Saturday evening after the Miss Iowa finals. A detailed schedule will be sent at a later date.

TICKETS FOR PARENTS, HOSTESSES, FRIENDS, AND FAMILY Princesses will be our honored guests at the 2016 Fairytale Fashion show and will receive complimentary entrance, however, their guardians for the evening will need to pay the entrance fee. A VIP section of seats for the Princesses will be reserved at the Miss Iowa/Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. The Princess Camp Program Coordinator and additional pageant staff or assistants will be seated with and supervise the Princesses at each competition. Parents, family and friends will need to purchase their tickets separately. Each Princess will need at least one adult present at the pageants. Ticket forms and payment instructions will be sent out at a later date.

STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING As parents or legal guardian of ______________________________, we submit her application for approval. We agree to conduct ourselves at all times in a professional manner. We will ensure that our daughter will conduct herself in a proper manner at all times and will be prompt to all Miss Iowa Princess Camp activities. We understand that this is not a competition, but a mentoring and learning experience conducted by the Miss Iowa Scholarship Program.

TRANSPORTATION, HOUSING AND MEALS I further understand that I will need to furnish transportation and provide an adult companion to be present with my daughter at all times while participating in all Miss Iowa Princess Camp activities. I acknowledge that Miss Iowa Princesses and their families are responsible for their own housing and meals during Miss Iowa Pageant week.

GENERAL RULES AND GUIDELINES Any Princess whose conduct is deemed unbecoming by the Miss Iowa Princess Camp Committee or Miss Iowa Board will be asked to withdraw from the Miss Iowa Princess Camp and will no longer be eligible for future participation. Princess Camp fee is non-refundable. No one is permitted backstage at any time except security, stage personnel, pageant officials and production members. Miss Iowa Princesses will only be allowed backstage when accompanied by a pageant official. No one will be permitted in the dressing rooms except authorized personnel. Miss Iowa Princesses should plan to arrive at the auditorium dressed in production wardrobe. Exact wardrobe is to be determined by pageant officials. Please direct any problems or complaints to the Princess Camp Coordinator immediately so that they can be resolved in a timely manner. Please have your Princess arrive in the assigned areas 20 minutes before scheduled times. delays and must be avoided during pageant week.

Tardiness results in scheduling

Parents are responsible for the conduct of their children. Please label your child’s belongings before arriving at Princess Camp. The Miss Iowa Scholarship Program is not responsible for lost or stolen personal items. I hereby waive and release the Miss Iowa Scholarship Program Management Corporation from any and all liability for any injuries or illnesses incurred while at Miss Iowa Princess Camp. I will be responsible for any medical or other charges in connection with my daughter’s attendance.
