Thank you.

Benediction at 3:30 pm Lord Jesus Christ, pierce my soul with your love so that I may always long for you alone, who are the bread of angels and the fulfillment of the soul’s deepest desires. WEEKEND MASSES Saturday, July 20 5:00 PM Fr. Pat Sunday, July 21 7:30 AM Fr. Arnulfo 9:30 AM Fr. Pat 11:30 AM Fr. Pat 9:30 AM School Church (Spanish) - Fr. Arnulfo

In today’s Gospel, when Jesus asks “which of these three, in your opinion, was neighbor to the robbers’ victim?” the scholar of the law answered, “the one who treated him with mercy”. Jesus then said, “Go and do likewise”. This week you can also “treat the poor with mercy” by putting a gift in the St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box. To find out more about the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Peter’s, please call Diane Regan at 883-5534.

Gospel Reading ~ Luke 10:25-37 ~ The Parable of the Good Samaritan Family Connection Families rely on selfless love. Parents show love for their children not just when it's convenient, but whenever their children's needs must be met. Imagine if the members of a family were concerned only with their own needs. How quickly things would fall apart! In the story of the Good Samaritan, we learn about someone who went out of his way to care for the needs of another. He recognized the victim as his brother and accepted responsibility for him. As a family, talk about the responsibilities of each member of the family. Share how you, as parents, care for the needs of everyone in the family even when it's inconvenient. Ask your children to share times when they did chores and helped the family even when it was not convenient. Read aloud this Sunday's Gospel, Luke 10:25-37. Talk about how the Samaritan went out of his way to care for the needs of the victim. Make a commitment as a family to follow the example of the Good Samaritan. Explain that the more you learn to accept responsibility for each other's needs at home, the more you'll be able to accept responsibility for the needs of others in the world. loyolapress.com

PARISH SOCIAL MINISTRY “…learn to do good; seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow...” ~ Isaiah 1:17

THE PANTRY IS IN GREAT NEED OF: Rice, Jelly, Macaroni & Cheese, Soup, Canned Pasta, Mayonnaise, Ketchup, Shelf-Stable Milk, Bread, Oil, Dishwashing Soap, Bath Soap, Shampoo, Toothpaste, Home Hygiene Products, Supermarket Gift Cards & Metro Cards.

CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING SOLIDARITY We are one human family, whatever our national, racial, ethnic, economic and ideological differences. We are our brother’s and sister’s keeper. As Christians, we are as St. Paul reminds us, one body. Love of neighbor has global dimensions in our rapidly shrinking world. At the core of solidarity is the pursuit of justice and peace. Peace is more than a lack of conflict. Peace, or in Hebrew Shalom, means literally “right relationship.” The gospel calls us to be peacemakers: that we live in right relationship with others, ourselves, and God. Pope Paul VI taught, “If you want peace, work for justice.” Our love for our entire human family demands that we work for justice and for peace, that we promote God’s shalom in our world. NEXT WEEK: CARE FOR GOD’S CREATION (*) (* Taken from the USCCB’s Justice, Peace & Human Development “Catholic Social Teaching: A Scriptural Guide”)

AND IN KEEPING WITH NEXT WEEK’S CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING TOPIC OF CARING FOR GOD’S CREATION… Mrs. Beth Ricciardi and the student’s of St. Peter’s School have been working very hard in creating a vegetable and herb garden right by our Parish Social Ministry Offices and Pantry! They have been diligently working since the Spring! The vegetables and herbs will benefit the families and individuals of our Food Pantry! The herbs are already growing and our Parish Social Ministry households are welcome to start snipping away! We only ask that you take only what you need and that you cut the leaves, but not rip, or remove the entire plant. The vegetables will obviously take a little longer, but we are hoping for a full harvest and ribbon-cutting ceremony in the early fall once the students return and our produce is in full bloom! THANK YOU MRS. RICCIARDI & THE STUDENTS OF ST. PETER’S SCHOOL!

Peace, Lourdes

GRACIAS A SRA. RICCIARDI Y LOS ESTUDIANTES DE LA ESCUELA DE SAN PEDRO!

Paz, Lourdes
