Parents Of Murdered Children, Inc. (POMC) is the only nationwide self-help organization dedicated solely to the aftermath and prevention of murder. MISSION POMC makes the difference through on-going emotional support, education, prevention, advocacy and awareness. ORIGIN AND GROWTH POMC was founded in 1978 by Charlotte and Robert Hullinger in Cincinnati, Ohio, after the murder of their daughter, Lisa. Father Ken Czillinger, a Roman Catholic priest active in leading support groups for the bereaved, directed the Hullingers to others whose children had been murdered. What was once a small group is now a national organization with over 200 Chapters and Contact Persons throughout the United States and abroad. FINANCES POMC relies mostly on donations to support its outreach to those who have experienced the ultimate loss — the murder of a loved one. MEMBERSHIP FEES There are no membership fees to belong to POMC. The organization is open to any survivor over 18 of a homicide victim, as well as professionals who work with survivors. Parole Block Program The goal of the Parole Block Program is to help prevent the early release/parole of those convicted of murder or homicide. It is not the objective of the program to judge or reevaluate the circumstances surrounding the crime. A judge and/or jury has heard the facts, determined the degree of guilt, and imposed a sentence — PBP helps to ensure that the minimum side of that sentence is served.

In November 1993, the National Organization of Parents Of Murdered Children, Inc.® (POMC), launched the Murder Is Not Entertainment (MINE) Program. MINE wants to eliminate the playing and marketing of violence and murder as forms of entertainment for both children and adults. The program strives to instill the same empathy and respect for victims of murder that society affords victims of other tragedies. Through education, crime prevention, and promoting an overall change of attitude, the MINE Program drives home the message - Murder Is Not Entertainment.

Murder Wall...Honoring Their Memories

Not only is the Murder Wall...Honoring Their Memories a tribute to the memory of your loved one, it is a tribute that will guarantee that the memory of those we miss so deeply will survive forever. The Wall is a powerful statement of the violence in our society and of the numbers of loved ones senselessly killed by others. Not only does it give comfort, but also hope, because every name on it cries out silently for awareness, prevention, and justice. The Wall is made up of solid walnut plaques. Each plaque holds 120 names with dates of birth and dates of death engraved on brass plates measuring 2-1/2” x 1”. The Wall continues to be displayed at the National Conference. Donation: $75.00 - per inscribed plate
