JOHN F. KENNEDY PRE- SCHOOL Reglamento del Alumno para Padres de Familia

MISIÓN Fundado en 1974 por la familia Guenther, el Colegio Kennedy se propuso el objetivo de ofrecer una excelencia educativa bilingüe y bicultural a las familias de Guadalajara en un ambiente de confianza, libertad y respeto que permitan al niño o a la niña descubrirse en toda su potencialidad. Estamos constituidos como una institución laica y mixta.

VISION Nuestro compromiso es mantener el prestigio ganado a través de los años como uno de los líderes educativos bilingües y biculturales en esta ciudad por medio de la constante capacitación y actualización del personal docente. MARCO DE REFERENCIA Las siguientes políticas y reglamentos han sido instituidos para asegurar que cada alumno y miembros del personal docente puedan trabajar y estudiar en un ambiente que conduzca al aprendizaje con respeto y altos estándares educativos. PROGRAMA ACADÉMICO El programa académico del preescolar, se basa en un programa de total inmersión al inglés. Los enfoques de los programas varían de acuerdo al nivel y edad de los grupos. 

Tareas. Los alumnos llevarán tareas a casa de acuerdo al grado escolar. Es indispensable que los padres de familia cooperen con el Colegio, revisando que la lleven a casa así como supervisando su elaboración y entrega oportuna.



HELP US NOTES. Estos son avisos a los padres cuando necesitamos reforzar al niño en algún aspecto académico y pedir su apoyo en casa. Después de tres HELP US NOTES, se les pedirá una cita para acordar las medidas necesarias.



Evaluaciones. Estas se entregan bimestralmente, y comprenden el área académica, afectiva-social. Se les notificará la fecha oportunamente, pues es necesario que las reciban personalmente. Se les informará del progreso de su hijo/a durante el año a través de las conferencias padres-maestros, reportes escritos y citas de ser necesario.

Departamento Psicopedagógico. Se cuenta con una psicóloga, cuya función es apoyar a las maestras en el proceso educativo y a los padres cuando sea necesario.



Departamento Académico. La coordinadora apoya a las maestras en la planeación, impartición y evaluación de los contenidos académicos. Revisa y organiza programas y recursos didácticos.

PROGRAMAS ADICIONALES 

Psicomotricidad: El objetivo es el desarrollo de habilidades motoras gruesas, la introducción a la danza y la sensibilización hacia la música. Se les pide a los niños traer ropa apropiada, así como zapatos cómodos o tenis.



Arte: En esta clase es importante el desarrollo de la creatividad y el contacto con diversos materiales para la expresión del niño; se da una vez por semana y se les pide a los niños traer ropa que se pueda ensuciar.



Formación Humana: El colegio tiene el programa “Child of the Week” a través del cual se compartirá lo que es importante y valioso de cada alumno junto con su familia, dedicando a cada niño una semana del año, con el objetivo de fortalecer su auto estima. La maestra entregará a los padres un manual de “Child of the Week” una semana previa a la fecha designada para su semana. Como actividad complementaria los niños de Pre-First tienen sesiones de “Wonder Time”, donde a través de cuentos, películas y otros materiales didácticos se habla de valores de interés para los niños.

OTRAS ACTIVIDADES 

Honores a la Bandera. Se hacen cada viernes y los niños deberán traer el uniforme. Durante el año a cada grupo le corresponderá tener una actividad de acuerdo al calendario cívico. La maestra les notificará si es necesario traer algo especial. La escolta se forma con los alumnos de Pre-First que han sobresalido por su conducta y promedio académico.



Cumpleaños. Se elige un viernes del mes donde cada maestra hace una celebración colectiva de los cumpleaños de sus alumnos. Los padres podrán cooperar para el festejo, poniéndose de acuerdo previamente para ello. No se aceptan piñatas. Las fechas están señaladas en su calendario.

ASISTENCIA Y PUNTUALIDAD 



La hora de entrada para Los grupos de Pre-Kinder, Kinder I y Kinder II, es a las 9:00 a.m. y las puertas están abiertas a partir de las 8:30 a.m., hora en que nuestras auxiliares reciben a los niños. Después de la hora de entrada se dan únicamente 5 minutos de tolerancia para entrar, considerándose ya retardo el llegar después de este tiempo. Si acumulan en el mes tres retardos, se suspende la asistencia del niño un día. La salida para Pre-Kinder, Kinder I y Kinder II, es a la 1:00 p.m. Hay tolerancia hasta la 1:30 p.m. para recoger a sus hijos. De no ser así, habrá un cargo adicional por día. 2

    

Se ofrece servicio de guardería de 1:30 p.m. a 2:00 p.m. con un costo adicional Este servicio se reserva el derecho de admisión por conducta del alumno. La entrada de los niños de Pre-First es a las 8:15 a.m. La puerta estará abierta únicamente para Pre-First a partir de las 8:00 a.m. Los viernes favor de dejarlos en la primaria a las 8:00 a.m. para sus clases de Educación física y Computación. Los niños regresarán al Pre-escolar en transporte privado. La salida para Pre-First es a las 2:00 p.m. Hay tolerancia hasta las 2:30 p.m. para recoger a sus niños. Después de las 2:30 p.m. el seguro contra accidentes no cubre a los niños por lo que se les pide recogerlos a tiempo. Tampoco hay supervisión de las maestras. Tres retardos al recogerlos en un mes ameritan suspensión por un día. En caso de que personas ajenas tengan que recoger al niño, deberá haber una autorización por escrito o por teléfono de parte de los padres. En eventos especiales todos los alumnos deberán llegar al colegio media hora antes de la hora del inicio del evento. Los salones se cerrarán durante los recreos y a la salida de los grupos por la tarde. No pueden entrar los niños o los padres a los salones una vez cerrados por la maestra de grupo.

UNIFORMES 

El uniforme debe usarse para Honores a la Bandera y para excursiones. Favor de marcar claramente el nombre del niño en el uniforme para evitar que se pierda. Incluye una playera, short o pants y tenis blancos.

PARTICIPACIÓN DE LOS PADRES DE FAMILIA  

En la primera junta general del año escolar, se invita a los padres de familia a participar eligiendo representantes y suplentes de grupo. Estos representantes pueden cooperar en organizar y dar conferencias para padres, ayudar a las maestras en festejos, excursiones y eventos especiales.

CALIFICACIONES Y CONFERENCIAS CON PADRES DE FAMILIA    

Habrá cuatro juntas con padres de familia durante el año escolar para entregar calificaciones. Las fechas de las mismas se programarán en el calendario escolar. Si los padres no asisten a la junta, será necesario recoger las calificaciones en una junta especial con maestra en una fecha posterior. Para tener una entrevista con maestros, deberán solicitar una cita en la oficina con anticipación. Las maestras no pueden dar información académica o de conducta sin esta cita.

CONDUCTA Y DISCIPLINA  

Es inaceptable agredir física o verbalmente a los demás. Dependiendo de la falta la sanción será, desde una conferencia con los padres, hasta la separación temporal o definitiva del colegio. Ningún alumno deberá tomar o dañar las pertenencias de otros ni las del colegio. Se le hará responsable económicamente por los daños causados, accidental o intencionalmente. 3

  

“HELP US NOTES”. Es un medio para notificar a los padres sobre la conducta del alumno y apoyen al Colegio para que su comportamiento mejore o el daño sea reparado. Las reglas anteriores aplican dentro y fuera del colegio, en eventos tales como excursiones, viajes, fiestas de cumpleaños y en el uso de internet. En caso de incurrir en alguna conducta fuera del marco establecido por el colegio, nos reservamos el derecho de suspensión o de expulsión.

Código de vestir La apariencia física es un factor importante en la educación. A continuación se describen los lineamentos a seguir:  No se permiten chanclas para baño o playa.  No se permite el uso de aretes en cualquier parte del cuerpo que no sean las orejas para las niñas.  Está estrictamente prohibido el uso de tatuajes de cualquier tipo.  No se permiten camisetas con logotipos ofensivos ni blusas que dejen al descubierto el abdomen.  No se permite traer el cabello teñido y el corte de los niños no debe rebasar el cuello de la camisa.  No se permite ningún tipo de maquillaje, incluyendo las uñas pintadas.

REFRIGERIO  

Se les pide manden a los niños con un refrigerio para su hora de lunch, de preferencia que sea nutritivo. Se les pide también procurar no mandar desechables, sino utensilios que puedan regresar a casa y ser lavados. Esto es para controlar la cantidad de basura y conservar el ambiente.

JUGUETES, OBJETOS OLVIDADOS Y DE VALOR    

No se permite a los niños traer juguetes de su casa. Se consideran como juguetes toda joyería de fantasía, cartitas de juego y bolsitas con “pertenencias personales”. Se recomienda que los niños no traigan al colegio dinero ni objetos de valor tales como pulseras, esclavas, etc., ya que en caso de pérdida el Colegio no se responsabiliza por ellos. Los objetos que olviden los alumnos serán guardados en un baúl, localizado en recepción que estará disponible a la salida de clases. Los objetos olvidados en el colegio como suéteres, útiles, y uniformes serán donados a instituciones de asistencia social en navidad, pascua y al final del ciclo escolar.

EXCURSIONES, VISITAS Y FESTEJOS 

Al principio del año se llenará un permiso general para excursiones. Las excursiones se organizan de acuerdo al programa e interés de los alumnos. La semana en que se tiene programada la excursión, se les mandará un aviso especificando el lugar y la información pertinente.

Si el niño/a va a participar en la excursión, llevará uniforme y su lunch. Si por alguna razón no va a participar en la excursión, favor de dejarlo en casa ese día. Los festejos de cumpleaños para los alumnos se hacen mensualmente y la fecha esta marcada en el calendario anual. Las maestras o el colegio no se hacen responsables de repartir invitaciones para fiestas, esto es exclusivamente responsabilidad de los padres. No se permiten visitas de personas ajenas al colegio en el salón de clases sin autorización de la dirección. Los ex alumnos solo pueden visitar fuera del horario normal de clases.

SEGURIDAD Y VIALIDAD     

Está prohibido estacionarse en línea amarilla, bloquear las cocheras de otras casas, y del colegio. Seguridad Pública infracciona a los que no cumplen este reglamento. Para minimizar congestionamientos y molestias a los vecinos, se les pide circular por la calle de Santa Ana y salir por la calle de La Calma. Los vigilantes no son responsables de bajar cosas de los autos ni tampoco de entrar a buscar niños al colegio. Los padres o personas autorizadas deberán entrar personalmente a recoger a sus hijos Sin excepción, no se puede estacionar bloqueando las puertas del colegio o en la franja amarilla apartada por los conos.

SEGURO ESCOLAR 

  

El seguro cubre: cualquier accidente que ocurra dentro del Colegio o excursión y en el transporte del alumno del Colegio a su casa y viceversa. Toda reclamación deberá hacerse por medio de la oficina a más tardar tres días después del accidente. El colegio no acepta ninguna responsabilidad adicional fuera de los límites establecidos de la póliza. El seguro no cubre los horarios después de las 2:30 p.m. por lo que se les pide ser puntuales al recoger a sus hijos. En eventos especiales, ya sea dentro o fuera de las instalaciones del colegio, el seguro solo cubre al personal y a los alumnos inscritos en el colegio. Los padres, hermanitos e invitados no están cubiertos. El Colegio no se hace responsable de daños materiales, robo o pérdida de vehículos o pertenencias de los padres de familia y alumnos en los eventos especiales, sean éstos en las instalaciones del colegio o en algún lugar designado para ellos.

RECOMENDACIONES A LOS PADRES DE FAMILIA Ayuden a sus hijos a entender la importancia de la disciplina en el proceso de aprender en la escuela. Muy poco aprendizaje se logra si no se enseña a los niños a “respetar la autoridad de las personas”, incluyendo a sus padres, maestros y directores. El factor más común que afecta a la calidad académica de una escuela es la baja disciplina. Cuando decae la disciplina, también decae el aprendizaje. Este principio se aplica a las escuelas pero también a los alumnos individualmente. El comportamiento del alumno en la escuela también refleja su educación en casa. 5

 Demuestren afecto y cariño a sus hijos. Muchos alumnos hoy en día llegan a la escuela con una gran necesidad de afecto. Sus muestras de afecto repercuten de manera positiva en la seguridad de sus hijos.  Enseñen a sus hijos a ser responsables por sus acciones. Enséñenlos a pedir y buscar el perdón si lastiman u ofenden a otra persona. Si dicen mentiras o toman cosas ajenas, exíjanles que reparen el daño causado a aquellos a quienes hayan afectado.  Enseñen a sus hijos a usar su tiempo responsablemente. Ayudarán a sus hijos en la escuela y en la vida diaria si los enseñan a utilizar su tiempo sabiamente. Hable con sus hijos para asignar horarios específicos para realizar tareas y trabajos en la casa. También enséñelos con su propio ejemplo la puntualidad en la escuela y en otras actividades obligatorias. Sus hijos se verán en desventaja por el resto de su vida si no aprenden desde una temprana edad, que tienen que utilizar el tiempo de manera responsable.  Muestren interés por lo que están aprendiendo sus hijos en la escuela. Platiquen con sus hijos sobre las materias que están estudiando dentro del salón de clases. Esto motivará aún más su interés, si ustedes los padres, están intelectualmente involucrados con su educación y aprendizaje.  No comenten sus inconformidades con sus hijos. El trabajo del colegio es llevado a cabo por seres humanos que están expuestos a cometer errores. Consecuentemente, en ocasiones no estarán de acuerdo con el administrador, director o maestro sobre algún aspecto del colegio. Eviten discutir sus inconformidades con sus hijos. Esto afecta la labor del colegio en la enseñanza y trabajo con ellos.  Apoyen las reglas y lineamientos del colegio. Los reglamentos del colegio son necesarios y los padres, alumnos y personal deben estar de acuerdo con ellos. Como padres, pueden discrepar en algún punto, pero sugerimos que muestren su apoyo con sus hijos. Los alumnos tienen mayores posibilidades de violar el reglamento cuando saben que sus padres están en desacuerdo con él. Ellos deben ver que el colegio y su casa están unidos.  Procuren educar a sus hijos siendo un ejemplo para ellos. Los hijos observan a sus padres y los imitan. Están modelando sus vidas a través de ellos. Si son personas positivas cuyo estilo de vida está en armonía con sus principios, sus hijos responderán a la enseñanza del colegio. Si su estilo de vida entra en conflicto con sus principios, sus hijos estarán confundidos y frustrados por los mensajes contradictorios que observan en casa y en el colegio. Si tiene alguna duda acerca de estos lineamentos, favor de preguntar en la dirección. Estamos en la mejor disposición para escucharlos y así participar todos en la educación de nuestros niños.

JOHN F. KENNEDY PRE-SCHOOL STUDENT HANDBOOK MISSION Founded in 1974 by the Guenther family, the Kennedy School from its beginning, defined as its main objective to offer an excellent bilingual and bicultural education to the families of the Guadalajara area, in an environment of trust, freedom and respect, in order to allow the child to discover his or her full potential. We are a non religious and coeducational institution.

VISION Our commitment is to maintain the prestige we have gained over the years as one of the leading bilingual educational institutions in this city through continual in-training and updating of our teaching staff.

REFERERENCE The following rules and policies have been designed to ensure that the student as well as the teachers can study and work in an environment conducive to learning with respect and high academic standards.

ACADEMIC PROGARAM The preschool academic program is based on a total English Immersion program. The focus of the program depends on the age and grade level of the students. 

Homework: Students will have homework according to their grade level. It is absolutely necessary that the parents cooperate with the school in this matter and to make sure the homework is turned in on time.



HELP US NOTES: these are notices to parents when we need help from home reinforcing some academic aspect. After 3 HELP US NOTES, a meeting will be requested with the parents.



Evaluations: Evaluations are given on a trimester basis and cover academic and social areas. The dates will be scheduled so that the parents can pick them up in person. Progress reports will be given throughout the year by means of several parent-teacher conferences, written reports and special appointments when necessary.



Psychology Department: There is a psychologist at school who will be able to help the teachers and parents with their child’s needs when necessary.



Academic Department: The academic coordinator assists the teachers in planning, developing new teaching material and revising and organizing curriculum and teaching materials.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS 

Motor skills: The goal is to develop fine motor skills, introduction to dance and music sensitiveness. We ask that the children bring comfortable clothes and shoes.



Art: This class is very important in developing creative skills, using a variety of materials. This class is given once a week and the students are required to bring clothes that can get dirty.



Human Development: The “Child of the Week” is one week a year where the child is the main character. He or she will be able to share his or her favorite things with the rest of the class. This program helps to strengthen their self-esteem. The teacher will give a “Child of the Week” manual to the parents one week prior to the scheduled date. In addition to this program, the Pre-First students have “Wonder Time” sessions, where they read stories, watch movies and other materials that will help them talk about values and things that interest them.

OTHER ACTIVITIES 

Flag Salute: Dates will be marked in the annual school calendar (Fridays) and all students must wear the school uniform. During the school year, each grade level will present a special program during these dates. Their teacher will notify them if there is something special needed. The flag honor guard is made up of students in Pre-First and they are selected according to conduct and grade point average.



Birthdays: One Friday of each month is chosen to celebrate all birthdays of the month. Parents can help by coordinating this party with the teachers. Piñatas are not allowed. The dates will be marked in the monthly calendar.

ATTENDANCE AND TARDY 

  

   

School starts for Pre-kinder, Kinder I and Kinder II at 9:00 a.m. The teachers’ aides will be ready to receive the children at 8:30 a.m. There is 5 minutes tolerance after 9:00 a.m. After this time the student receives a tardy notice. Three late arrivals during the same month will cause a 1 day suspension from school. Dismissal for Pre-Kinder, Kinder I and Kinder II is at 1:00 p.m. There is tolerance until 1:30 p.m. to pick up the children. After this time, there will be a late fee. There is an after school day care service from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. with an additional cost. Any child with a behavior problem will not be accepted. School starts for Pre-First at 8:15 a.m. The teachers’ aides will be ready to receive them at 8:00 a.m. On Fridays, please drop them off at the Primary school at 8:00 a.m. for their Computer and Physical Education classes. The children will be returned to the Pre School by private transportation. Dismissal time for Pre First is at 2:00 p.m. There is tolerance until 2:30 p.m. to pick up the children. The school insurance does not cover after 2:30 p.m. Neither is there any supervision by the teachers. Three late pick ups in one month becomes a suspension for one day. Students who will be picked up by an adult other than their parents must have a written permission or call the office by phone. Teachers will lock the classrooms during recess and after school. Students and parents are not allowed in the classrooms after the teacher has locked it. 2



During special events we ask that the children be at school half an hour before the event is scheduled to take place.

UNIFORMS 

All students must wear their complete uniform during Flag Salute and field trips. Please mark the uniforms with the student’s name to prevent loss. The uniform includes a T shirt plus shorts or pants and white tennis shoes.

PARENT PARTICIPATION  

During the general meeting at the beginning of the school year, the parents will select the room representatives to help with the different school activities throughout the school year. The room representatives will be able to help organize conferences for the parents; help the teachers plan celebrations, Field Trips and special events.

EVALUATIONS AND PARENT CONFERENCES    

There are four parent conferences throughout the school year to deliver report cards. The dates will be marked in the school calendar. If the parents do not attend the scheduled meetings, they will have to make an appointment and come back at a later date. To have a meeting with a teacher, parents must request it through the school office. The teachers are not allowed to give out information about the students without a meeting.

CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE     

Physical or verbal aggression is unacceptable conduct. Depending on the seriousness of the situation, it could merit an interview with the parents, temporary or permanent suspension from school. No student is to steal or damage the property of others, including the schools. Whether the damage is accidental or intentional, the student must repay it in full. “HELP US NOTES” is a form of communication between the school and the parents when it is necessary to discipline the child and we need the help at home. The above rules apply in or out of school and include the following: field trips, class trips, birthday parties, and the use of internet. Any unruly conduct that violates the rules at school can result in a temporary or permanent suspension from school.

Dress Code

Physical appearance is an essential part of education. The following guidelines are:      

No flip flops, or beach tongs. No piercing in any part of the body except the ears for the girls. No tattoos of any kind. No T shirts with offensive logos or blouses that show the abdomen. No dyed hair. The boys’ haircut should not fall below the shirt collar. Girls are not allowed to wear make-up or nail polish.

LUNCH  

Please send a nutritional lunch with your child every day. Please no junk food or candy. Please send them with containers that can be washed at home to cut down on the amount of trash and help to preserve the environment.

TOYS, PERSONAL PROPERTY AND LOST AND FOUND    

Students are not allowed to bring toys from home: this includes trading cards, music, magazines, bags, jewelry etc. We recommend that valuable items such as money, bracelets, expensive watches, etc. not be brought to school. The school is not responsible for stolen or lost items. LOST AND FOUND. All lost items will be kept in a chest located in the front reception area. Any items left in the Lost and Found chest will be donated to charity at Christmas, Easter, and at the end of the school year.

FIELD TRIPS, CELEBRATIONS AND VISITORS    

At the beginning of the school year the parents will sign a permission slip for field trips. These will be planned according to age level and interests. The week the field trip is scheduled the parents will receive a notice specifying the place etc. If the child is going on the Field Trip, he or she must bring a packed lunch and wear the school uniform. If for some reason the child is not allowed to go, please keep your child at home. Birthday parties for the students are celebrated on a given Friday of the month. The date will be marked in the calendar. The school or the teachers will not deliver invitations to parties. This is the sole responsibility of the parents. Any person not belonging to the school may not visit during school hours unless there is authorization from the office. The alumni are only permitted to visit after regular school hours.

SAFETY AND PARKING     

It is prohibited to park by the yellow curves, or block driveways at any time. The police will give parking ticket for these violations. To have better traffic control, we ask that you arrive by Santa Ana Street, and exit through La Calma Street. The school guards are not responsible to unload cars or to look for students inside the school. Parents or authorized persons must personally pick up their children. Without exception, no parking allowed in the front of the school in areas separated by the cones.

ACCIDENT INSURANCE 

  

The school insurance covers any accident that occurs within the school property, during field trips, or when traveling to or from school. All insurance claims must be filed through the school office no later than 3 days after the accident. The school is not liable for anything not covered in this policy. The school insurance does not cover beyond 2:30 p.m., so please pick up your children on time as there will be no supervision after this time. During special events, either in or out of school, the insurance only covers personnel and students. The parents, siblings or invited guests are not covered. The school is not responsible for material damage, theft or loss of vehicles or personal property of parents or students during special events whether at school or another place.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PARENTS Help your children understand the importance of discipline in the educational process. Little learning occurs if self discipline is not part of the child. It is vital that the child learns to respect authority, not only the parents but the teachers and the school as well. The most common threat to the academic quality of a school is a decline in discipline. When discipline declines, learning declines. This principle applies to schools and to individual as well. Children in school reflect their home training. Students whose parents firmly discipline them with love respond well to the normal environment of the school classroom. Show affection to your children. Too many youngsters go to school lacking the security of parental love. Your affection can make your children more confident and self-assured. Teach your children to be accountable for their actions. Teach them to apologize and seek forgiveness if they harm or offend another individual. If they lie or steal, require them to make full restitution to those against whom they have wronged. Teach your children to be manage their time responsibly. You will help your children in school and in life if you train them to use their time wisely. Talk to your children about setting specific times each day for homework and household chores. Also train them by example by being on time for school and other time-oriented obligations. If your children learn early in life to use time responsibly, it will help them for the rest of their lives. Show an interest in what your children are learning in school. Discuss with your children the subject material they are studying in the classroom. It will enhance their interest in education even more if you, as parents, are intellectually involved with their education. Always respect the teachers and principal. The work of the school is carried out by human beings who are not immune from making mistakes. Consequently, on occasion you may disagree with the administrator or a teacher on some aspect of the school. Don’t discuss your points of disagreement with your children. It will destroy the school’s ability to be effective with your youngsters. 5

Support the school’s rules and regulations. School rules are necessary and must be generally agreed to by parents, students, and school personnel. As a parent, you may not always agree with every detail of the school’s rules and regulations, but you must not show less than full support of them to your children. Students are much more prone to violate school rules if they know their parents do not agree with them. Students must see the school and the home united. Be a model of what you want your children to become. Children are parent watchers. They are modeling their lives after yours. If you are a positive, happy person whose lifestyle is in harmony with your principles, your children will respond to the training of the school. If, on the other hand, your lifestyle is contrary to your principles, your children may be confused and even frustrated by the conflicting role models they see at home and at school.
