Gas Engineer

Service and Breakdown or Installations Supervisor

Main Purpose of Job Provide a high quality and cost effective Heating system maintenance and repair service to a range of customers in the south west. Main duties will be on the emphasis of servicing, repairing and installing gas, oil and solid fuel heating systems and plumbing works at various domestic and commercial properties within Westward Property Services area of operation. Principal Tasks and Duties Undertake the servicing, repairing and maintenance of gas, oil and solid fuel heating systems. Carry out other maintenance, repairs and remedial work as directed, including plumbing, carpentry etc. Carry out installation, operation, maintenance and repairs of plant and equipment Complete works in accordance with Westward specifications and in compliance with the relevant Legislation, relevant trade body and industry standards and best practice. Carry out Legionella Risk Assessments to properties as requested including preparation and completion of necessary paperwork Out of Hours Service Participate in an emergency ‘out of hours’ service as required, including carrying out other multi skilled tradeswork where necessary. Health and Safety Be responsible for the care and condition of all vehicles, plant tools and equipment issued to or used by the post holder, completing all related pre use or scheduled safety inspections as required. Ensure that all necessary documentation and/or verbal reports relating to unsafe equipment are immediately communicated to their line manager, advising the line manager of any defects requiring repair, and to ensure that the equipment is stored or made safe in such a way as to not be used by a third party. Work to operational procedures, safe working practices and Health and Safety procedures and approved codes of practice as appropriate. Attend safety meetings, training and briefings as may be required. Be responsible for completing dynamic risk assessments when arriving at site, checking that the safety of themselves and/or others will not be compromised by completing the task. Ensure that all accident, near miss events or potential hazards are reported to their line manager immediately. Ensure that work areas are kept in a safe condition whilst the work is being carried out and that the area is made safe at the end of the day.

Other Duties Complete and signed off worksheets, time sheets, vehicle inspection forms, warning notices and any other forms as required by Westward Property Services. Carry out responsibilities with due regard for Westward Equality & Diversity requirements Attend training as required Provide general support and assistance to the Supervisor as required Carry out any other duties as reasonably required by the Supervisor and Operations Manager. PERSON SPECIFICATION GAS ENGINEER

Qualifications and Education

ESSENTIAL

DESIRABLE

City and Guilds Plumbing qualifications or equivalent.

Education to GCSE standard in English and Maths at intermediate level, or a relevant national qualification equivalent to higher level (Grades A* – C)

Gas Safe Registration in the following disciplines: CCN1, CEN1, HTR1, CPA1, CKR1, WAT1, OFT101, UDHW, OFT102, OFT105E, CIGA1, TPCP1A, ICPN1, OFT600A, and Energy Efficiency for new boiler installs. (See below for gas safe Registration descriptions) Educated to GCSE standard in English and Maths at foundation level (Grades D -G or a relevant national qualification equivalent to GCSE

IT Ability to use Microsoft Word 2003, Excel and Outlook

Basic IT skills Experience and knowledge

Relevant experience of working in the building/mechanical engineering industry and dealing with the general public Knowledge of  Plumbing & Gas Engineering  Repairs  Servicing  Maintenance and Installation
