HOPE Happenings December 2016 / January 2017 December Highlights

Mary’s Notes Give your Child Four Priceless Gifts for December As you think about giving gifts this holiday season, remember that there are some gifts that only you can give. Unlike toys that may break before next month, these gifts will last a lifetime. The gift of time. The old saying is true. Children really do love T-I-M-E. Give the gift of listening to your child, reading with your child, helping your child, and just hanging around with your child. The gift of understanding. Children aren’t perfect and neither are parents. If your child makes a mistake, listen first. The gift of confidence. When you believe in your child, you can help them believe in themselves.

When you tell them that you know they can do it, they’ll never doubt that they can. Years from now, when they face a challenge, they will hear your words in the back of their mind. The gift of enthusiasm. Whether you’re working on a household project or going out to toss a ball, do it with verve. Your excitement about the task will rub off on your child. When they have to tackle a tough project in school (or later in life), they will find the energy to carry it through.

Merry Christmas to you and yours! From everyone at HOPE Preschool

Christmas Song Twinkle, Twinkle Christmas Star (Sung To: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

Twinkle, twinkle Christmas star, how I wonder what you are. Baby Jesus born this night. One great star shining bright. Twinkle, twinkle Christmas star, how I wonder what you are. Twinkle, twinkle Christmas star, how I wonder what you are. Shine on Joseph, Mary too. Shine and shine the whole night through. Twinkle, twinkle Christmas star, how I wonder what you are.

December and January Bible Verses God is good.

Don’t worry about anything.

Treat others the way you would have them treat you.

Be kind to one another.

We saw His star and have come to worship Him.

Give thanks to God with instruments.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem.

God spreads snow like a blanket.

HOPE for the Homeless Each year at the holidays, HOPE Preschool conducts a donation drive to benefit an organization that serves needy children. This year, our donation drive will benefit INOVA MOBILE HOPE. Mobile Hope serves the over 1,100 homeless and precariously housed children in Loudoun County’s public school system. These children attend every school across the county. Most of our schools serve young children who have no stable bed to call their own. Beginning a little more than two years ago, Mobile Hope became the first and only emergency relief center in Loudoun County where children can get help without an adult. As many as four out of ten children in Loudoun County do not have an active parent or guardian in their lives. Our donation drive will begin on December 5th and continue through December 16th, 2016. On the morning of December 16th at 10am, the Mobile Hope bus will visit HOPE Preschool to collect our donations. Our students will be able to greet the bus, see the items being loaded, and have a group photo taken with the bus! If you would like to help with this cause, please place any of the following items in the collection box in HOPE Preschool’s lobby:    
