Horse Careful Thursday 27 April l 7.30pm l £14/£12

There are times in life when you need to be careful: growing up gay in Lanark in the 70’s, when the reward is half a pack of fruit pastilles, when the lady on the train tells you about the doctor you should meet. These would be some of those times, but you’ll always be saved if you use your voice. Horse McDonald takes us on a journey from wearing twotone velvet loons to being one of Scotland’s most celebrated singers, and through those times when she had to be... Careful.

Created to honour the 2017 bicentenary of Jane Austen’s death, this promises to be an unusually intimate performance of the beloved author’s most famous work – one of the most popular novels of all time. The enduring story of the romance between Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy will be read aloud in a drawingroom setting, in much the same way

that Jane herself first read the story aloud to the Austen family and their closest friends. Weaving around those words will be Carl Davis’ magical score from the much loved BBC TV drama series of the 1990s.  The music, specially adapted by Mr Davis, will be performed by two of the UK's most sought after musicians: the pianist Ashley Wass, and violinist Matthew Trusler. This is a faithful adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic story in which Boy and his Grandmother defeat the Grand High Witch and her followers, who are holding a Conference in an English seaside hotel. During the struggle, Boy gets turned into a mouse!

A group of teenagers do something bad, really bad, then panic and cover the whole thing up. But when they find that the cover-up unites them and brings harmony to their otherwise fractious lives, where's the incentive to put things right? DNA is a poignant and sometimes hilarious tale with a very dark heart.

Sing Forth is a community choir of people who love to sing and now you can share in that joy by coming along to their Summer Concert. A wonderful evening of music, song and harmonies performed by the members and live band, led by Musical Director Dougie Flower. The choir will be joined by guest artistes to perform a full programme of musical treats.

Falkirk Youth Dance Company (FYDC) was established in January 2014 to give young people the opportunity to enhance and further their knowledge of contemporary dance, choreography and give them experience working within a dance company. The company is a partnership between Falkirk Community Trust and CarpeDiemDance. Dancers attend weekly creative rehearsals, developing innovative choreography to be performed at various events in Falkirk, and nationally. FYDC successfully gained a Start Up Grant in 2014 from YDance’s Routes programme. This was much needed funding to get the company off the ground and working within the local area. The young people work with Artistic director Zoe Thomson weekly to create original dance pieces and have had great opportunities to perform at various events including Callendar Park Fireworks Display, Falkirk Active School Awards Ceremony, GoDance and YDance Destinations.
