JACKSON, Bertha C. Jackson (Abstracted from the Evening Leader, St. Marys, Ohio – 29 August 2008) Bertha C. Jackson, formerly of Shawnee, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, in the Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville where she had resided for years. She was born Feb. 11, in Amanda Township, Allen County, a daughter of Charles Newton and Barbara Roeder and they preceded her in death. On Oct. 30, 1932, she married Burl G. Jackson and he preceded her in death. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law. She was also preceded in death by three sisters; two brothers; and a niece. Funeral services will be Saturday, in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery, east of Spencerville. Memorial contributions may be directed to either the American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice. JACKSON, E. South St., New Bremen, died Sunday, Dec.20, 2009, at the Briarwood Village in Coldwater. She was born on Aug.30, 1929, in Hartford City, IN, a daughter of Paul and Miriam (Manor) Johnsonbaugh. On July 25, 1947, she married William Jackson who survives in Coldwater. She is also survived by her daughters, Mariann (Ray) Sanders of New Knoxville, Teresa (Michael) Williman of Van Wert; grandchildren, Bret (Kim) Ayers of Coldwater, Kara Ayers of Toledo, Michael Kelly of Wilmington, NC, Samuel Sanders of Dayton, Joseph Sanders of New Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Emma, Paige, Mason and Lauren Ayers; and a son-in-law, Charles Ayers of Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Rosamond Ayers; and brothers, Paul and Richard Johnsonbaugh. Mrs. Jackson was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen and was a member of the New Bremen Historic Association. She was a graduate of Hartford City High School. She and her husband owned and operated the former Jackson's Jewelry in New Bremen for more than 40 years. She enjoyed traveling and she and her husband visited every continental United State. Funeral services will be Wednesday at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. Burial will be in the German Protestant Cemetery. On March 4, 1967 in St. Marys, OH, she married Jack A. Jacobs, who survives. She is also survived by 1 son, David (Tammy) Jacobs of St. Marys, OH; 2 sisters, Doris Clark of Northville, MI; June (Douglas) Jumisco of Springhill, FL; and 3 grandchildren: Shelby, Seth and Matthew. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Todd Jacobs; 2 brothers, Chuck Kusterer, Glen Kusterer; and a sister, Joyce Mahle. Jacobs, age 67, of 15466 Bay Road, Wapakoneta, OH, died suddenly Monday, November 30, 2015, in the emergency department of St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, OH. He was born October 7, 1948, in Lima, OH, the son of Andrew and Bernadine (Schuller) Jacobs. He married Rebecca Doseck on May 9, 1970, and she survives at the residence. He is also survived by 1 daughter, Kendra (Scott) Seewer; 2 sons, Kevin (Kris) Jacobs; Keith (Julie) Jacobs all three of St. Marys, OH; 9 grandchildren: Drew Jacobs; Mitchell Seewer; Allison Jacobs; Morgan Seewer; Chase Jacobs; Ella Jacobs; Lauren Jacobs; Jillian Jacobs and Nathan Jacobs; 3 sisters, Becky (Donald) Shaw; Sharon (Dale) Rex; Karen (R. He retired from Embarq Telephone Company in Lima, where he had been an installer and repairman. He was a member of Westside United Methodist Church in Lima. He was a member of the St. Marys Rider Rooters and the Moulton Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Lima American Legion Post. He was born on Nov. 21, 1939, in Celina to the late Arthur J. and Ruth (Alexander) Jacobs. He married Louise Combs, who died on Feb. 1, 2003. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Steven (Kristie) Jacobs of Boyd, TX, his daughter and son-in-law Laura (Joey) Kane of Bellville, IL, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 brother and sister-in-law, and 1 sister and brother-in-law. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law and his sister. He served his country in the United States Army as a corporal in Georgia, Texas and Oklahoma. He was a member of the American Legion Post #323, Buckeye Crappie Challenge Tournament Trail and St. Marys Bassmasters. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, trapping and bow hunting. He was particularly interested in fishing, having served as a guide on Grand Lake St. Marys and Indian Lake and spent countless hours making his own jigs. He also enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends and was especially fond of spending time with his grandchildren. She was born on Sept. 5, 1918, in Whitten, IA, and later lived in Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Jess) James in 1979, and her sons, Larry and Thomas James. "Jim" Jarrells, age 69, of Wapakoneta, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born May 2, 1938, in Bandy, VA a son of Dee and Ivy (Whitt) Jarrells, and they preceded him in death. On Jan. 11, 1960, he married Norma J. Elsass, and she survives in Wapakoneta. He is also survived by three children, James Michael Jarrells of Wapakoneta, Brian (Pamela) Jarrells of Mason, Carlotta (George) Pulfer of Fort Shawnee; 7 grandchildren, Collin Richard Jarrells, Sierra Nicole Pulfer, Olivia Ann Pulfer, Keaton George Pulfer, Julia Michelle Jarrells; 1 great grandson, Christian Michael; 1 brother, Ray (Wanda) Jarrells of New Knoxville; 1 sister, Joanne Bailey of Montpelier; and 1 brother-in-law, Harold Christian. Spring St. in New Knoxville, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was born on Jan. 6, 1931, in Nolan, WV, to Dee and Iva (Sparks) Jarrells, both of whom preceded him in death. On Dec. 22, 1949, in Pikeville, KY, he married Wanda L. Cook, who survives. Always putting his family first, Ray was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is remembered as a generous man who was sensitive to the needs of others. Edith V. “Edie” Jeanneret, age 90, of Wapakoneta, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, in the Lima Memorial Hospital emergency room. She was born on Dec. 11, 1922, in Elida, to Cecil and Mathilda Miller Keeling. She married Rene Jeanneret Sr. on March 11, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1977. Mrs. Jeanneret had been a homemaker and a bus driver for the Wapakoneta School District. She attended Rousculp Church of Christ and was a member of the Wapakoneta Eagles. She was an avid bowler, mainly at Astro Lanes. She enjoyed playing cards, reading and was an avid bird watcher. She loved to prepare home-cooked meals and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include 4 children, Marsha (Ron) Evans of Cincinnati, Rene (Tammy) Jeanneret of Wapakoneta, Debbie (Jeff) Jones of West Chester and Doug (Sharon) Jeanneret of Circleville; 11 grandchildren, Russell (Jessica) Jeanneret, Dustin (Becky) Jeanneret, Alexandria Jeanneret, William Jeanneret, Shaney Evans, Jessie Evans, Brianne (Matthew) Brown, Lindsay (John) Bayer, Kari Jones, Alex Jones and Robin Jones; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Grace (Roger) Strauser of Cridersville. JEFFRIES, Megan Ann Jeffries (Abstracted from the Evening Leader, St. Marys, Ohio – 30 April 2008) Megan Ann Jeffries, age 17, of 9505 Celina Mendon Road, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at the Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. Her death was due to injuries sustained in an ATV accident. She was born Feb. 24, 1991, a daughter of Donna and William Jeffries and they survive. She is also survived by a sister, Amanda Jeffries of Celina; three stepsisters, Kayleigh Andrews of Celina, Haley and Morgan Dietrich of Hesston, KS; a stepfather, Jason Andrews of Celina; a stepmother, Dawn Jeffries of Hesston, KS; grandparents, Melvin and Madonna Crouch of Celina and James and Patricia (Jeffries) Now of Celina; great-grand-mother, Retta Crouch of Celina; and step-grandparents, Leroy and Mary Permann of Rockford. She was preceded in death by a maternal grandmother, Lula Crouch; and paternal grandfather, Dallas Jeffries. She was a junior at Celina Senior High School. She was an athletic trainer for the Celina football team and was a member of the German Club. She was also a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Celina. He was born September 8, 1964 in Celina. His father, Robert L. Jeffries, preceded him in death on May 7, 1977. His nother, Lulu B. (Black) Jeffries, survives in Celina. Tim is survived by a son, a brother and sister-in-law, James (Sandy) Jeffries of Celina, 3 nephews & a niece: Shaun (Kacie) Jeffries, Derik Jeffries, Bradley (Megan) Jeffries and Megan (Donnie) Sites, 7 great nephews and 1 great niece, all of Celina. His aunts and uncles surviving are: Richard Ross and Patty Jeffries of Celina, Betty Helen Woodward of Laquey, MO, John & Darlene Black of Palmetto, FL, and Sharon & Bob Jordan of Kenton. Tim was a graduate of Celina High School and had worked at Coldwater Machine Company. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and doing mechanical work on motorcycles and cars. Born in Mercer County on August 30, 1925, Betty was the daughter of Virgil S. and Lollie May (West) Monroe. She married Bevan Jenkins on January 22, 1946 and he died February 24, 2008. Bevan and Betty were the parents of a daughter, Marjorie L. Jenkins, who preceded them in death on June 24, 2000. Also preceding her in death were six brothers: Paul Ernest, Orval Emery, Willis Daniel, Twins Jacob F. & James W. and Harry Lowell Monroe and Two sisters: Thelma Velma Kile and Inez Bernice Howell. Betty is survived by a sister-in-law, Viola Wells of Waco, TX. Betty was a homemaker and a member of the Beaver Chapel Congregational Christian Church near Celina. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Homes of Celina and Mendon, Ohio) Bevan Eugene Jenkins, 89, 2451 Pine Road, Celina, died Feb. 24, 2008, at his residence. He was born Aug. 13, 1918, in Liberty Township, Mercer County, to Charles Russel and Nancy Barbara Stoll Jenkins. On Jan. 22, 1946, he married Betty Evelyn Monroe, who survives. Also surviving is a sister, Violet Mae Wells, of Waco, Texas. She married Gerald Snider who preceded her in death and later married Frank K. Johnson on Oct. 29, 1950, and he survives in Lima. She is also survived by a son, Howard C. Jones, age 82, died Sunday, March 20, 2016, surrounded by his family at his residence in Celina. He was born on Dec. 27, 1933, in Ritner, KY, to Olie and Mae (Abbott) Jones, who both preceded him in death. Harley married Fay Layman on June 28, 1952, and she survives at the residence in Celina. They were happily married for 63 years, a distinction for which he was unquestionably proud of. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lynn Jones and two brothers, Curtis and Ernest Jones. Harley served his country in the U.S. Army at the tail end of the Korean War and trained with the 101st Airborne Division commonly known as the "Screaming Eagles." After his military service in 1954, Harley enrolled in and completed the comprehensive training program at the Gruen Watchmakers Institute earning the distinction of certified master watchmaker. He subsequently began his long career in the jewelry industry employed by a jewelry store in Sidney. Harley gained experience in retail sales while he worked as a watchmaker. In 1967, he began a partnership in Celina which eventually led to owning and operating Jones Jeweler. He also opened and operated other successful retail stores in Wapakoneta and Sidney before consolidating operations to the Celina store. After a total of 55 years in jewelry business it was time to retire and enjoy his wonderful family. Outside of work, Harley was very active. He served as chairman of the Celina Retail Merchants Association and was a past president of the Celina Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He served as a member of the Celina Income Tax Board of Review for over 25 years. He also served on the Mercer County Library Board, Mercer County Health Foundation and the community Improvement Board. He was a member of Celina Lions Club and the Celina Rotary Club, the Mercer County Republican Central Executive Committee and served as a finance chairman for the campaign committee for Ohio Sen. Keith Faber. In 2015, Harley was awarded the Mercer County Republican of the Year. Harley had been awarded the distinction of "Citizen of the Year" in Celina and Sidney. In Sidney, he served as president of the teen Center Board of Directors for five years and vice president of the Shelby County YMCA. He also served on the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants Board of Directors for 26 years. He was past president of the Ohio Jewelers Association and served for 15 years on its Board of Directors. During his tenure on the board he was an integral part of the growth and success of the Columbus Jewelry Show. Harley was appointed to the Ohio Jewelers Association Educational Foundation in 2007-2015. Harley led several fundraising efforts for the community, with the most recent one being a fundraiser to purchase new Christmas lights for downtown Celina. Harley spent his lifetime bringing dignity to family, hard work and professional ethics. He was very proud of Jones Jeweler being one of the oldest retail stores in Celina that is owned and operated by the same family of owners. Jordan, 79, of Cleveland, a former St. Marys resident died Tuesday at Lakeland Hospital following an extended illness. She was born June 5, 1904 in St. Marys to William and Sophia Ferlemann Jordan. Survivors include a brother Harold Jordan of St. Marys and a sister Lydia S. Jordan of Cleveland. Miss Jordan was a retired bookkeeper-accountant. She moved to Cleveland in 1925. Jordan (Related to Elmer in his Jordan Line) Lydia S. Jordan, age 101, formerly of Cleveland, died Monday March 22, 1993 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of Fairhaven Nursing Home for the past four years. She was born September 16, 1891 in Washington Township, Auglaize County to William and Sophia (Ferlemann) Jordan. She is survived by two nieces, Marie Kimble of Toledo; Janet Bost of Ft. Pierce, FL; grandnephews and a grandniece. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Miss Jordan graduated May 14th, 1918 from the Fairview School of Nursing and was a charter member of the school’s alumni association.

She was born May 27, 1892 in Washington Township, the daughter of Christian H. and Elizabeth Arnett Meyers. On April 16, 1916 she married Herman H. Jordan, who died May 11, 1969. Jordan, age 38, 1601 South 35th Street, Temple, TX, died Saturday July 23, 1994 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. He had been ill since February of complications from diabetes. He was born August 31, 1955 in Lima, son of Lois (Wilson) Jordan, a resident of Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Minster, and the late Robert Jordan. "Bob" Judy, age 81, of Lincoln, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 2, 1933 in Pontiac, IL to Robert Vincent and Mary Virginia (McReynolds) Judy. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post 3. Bob was an avid golfer in the Lincoln Senior Men's League and loved supporting his grandchildren in their favorite endeavors. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Kitty; his daughters Joni (Gary) Kelverand; Jill (David) Schlung, all of Gurnee, IL; Suzanne (Troy) Heller; his grandchildren Tiffany, Taylor, Chloe, Landon and Rylan, and his brother James P. Judy, of Tipp City. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be Thursday at New Covenant Community Church, 600 South 84th St. Memorials may be sent to Peoples City Mission or Young Life. No visitation or cremation is scheduled.

Jump, age 88, 1017 Edward St., St. Marys, died Sept. 12, 2006, at Wapakoneta Manor. He was born June 11, 1918, in Mexico, Ohio, to Wilson and Estella Jump. On Oct. 8, 1941, he married Margueritte Yeager, who died Feb. 21, 2001. Survivors are his fiance, Caroline Horn, of Winchester, IN; 2 sons, Jim (Leesa), of Naperville, IL, and David (Eileen), of Columbus; 2 daughters, Linda (Larry) Wahrer, of Jackson Center, and Jenny (Bill) Grubey, of Muncie, IN; 1 sister, Lois (Gus) Rowe, of Baldwinsville, NY; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Deceased are seven brothers, Laurel, Virgil, Dale, Paul, Harold, Ray and Edward; and a sister, Helen. He retired from Beatrice Foods Corp., where he was plant superintendent in New Bremen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of Forrest High School and attended Penn State University. He was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, St. Marys; and Free & Accepted Masons Mercer Lodge 121. Services are Saturday at the church. Jung, age 89, formerly of 17000 Roettger Road, New Bremen, died Monday, June 16, 2008, at the Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster. She was born Oct. 21, 1912, near New Bremen in Shelby County, a daughter of Herman and Anna (Nolte) Opperman. On June 6, 1943, she married Nelson H. Jung and he preceded her in death April 29, 1995. She is survived by a son, Thomas (Diana) Jung of Anna; four grandchildren, Timothy Jung, Matthew Jung, Rachel (Richie) Mummey and Lindsey Jung; and a great-grand-daughter, Natalie Jung; a sister, Marjorie Meyer of Wisconsin; and four brothers, Robert ( Jean) Opperman of Fostoria, Myron (Waverlene) Opperman of New Knoxville, Fred (Betty) Opperman of New Bremen and Marvin Opperman of Lakeland, FL. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Opperman and Vernon Opperman. She was a member of the St. Peter's Church in New Bremen where she had been very active in many aspects of the church including the Lay Life and work and the church treasurer. She was also involved with the Farm Bureau. She was a homemaker and also helped her husband on the family farm and had worked at Kuck's Turkey Farm near New Knoxville. Jung, 81, of 814 Lake Avenue, St. Marys, OH, died Sunday, September 27, 2009, at his residence. He was born February 19, 1928 in Shelby County, the son of Christian and Lenora (May) Jung. He married Virginia Speckman on July 22, 1954; she preceded him in death on August 22, 2004. He is survived by 1 son, Steven (Stephanie) Jung of North Warren, PA; 1 daughter, Jeannine (Bradley) Goodwin of St. Marys, OH; 2 grandchildren: Shawn (Deanna) Goodwin of Dublin, OH and Leslie Goodwin of Columbus, OH; 1 brother, Ralph Jung of Sidney, OH; 2 sisters, Madella Heidt of New Knoxville, OH; and Gertrude Miller of Columbus Grove, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings: Lester Jung, Nelson Jung, Victor Jung, Francis Warner, Annie Tontrup, and LaRose Jung. Leon was a 1946 graduate of Anna High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the Hoge Lumber Company in New Knoxville, where he was a master carpenter. He was a member of VFW Post 9289 and American Legion Post 323 in St. Marys. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards and woodworking. He was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church and he made the cross which hangs above the altar of the church. JUNG, Stephanie Jung (Abstracted from the Evening Leader, St. Marys, Ohio – June 8, 2012) Stephanie Jung, age 63, of Church Street, North Warren, PA, and formerly of St. Marys, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2012, following a brief illness and was taken home to be with the Lord at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House. Stephanie was born on Oct. 21, 1948, in Munich, Germany, the daughter of the late Wessil and Anastasian Dzalamanow. She is survived by her husband, Steven A. Jung, whom she married on June 21, 1977; 2 brothers, Mike Dzalamanow (Terri) and Paul Dzalamanow, both of St. Marys; nephews, Sean Dzalamanow and Richard (Angie) Dzalamanow of St. Marys and Marcus (Angie) Dzalamanow of Wilmington, NC; niece, Angela (Mykal) McEldowney of Greenville, SC; 1 great-niece, Clara Dzalamanow of St. Marys; 1 sister-inlaw, Jeannine (Brad) Goodwin of St. Marys; 1 niece, Leslie Goodwin of St. Marys; 1 nephew, Shawn (Dyanne) Goodwin of Columbus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Hole. She was sworn in as a citizen of the United States in 1970. Stephanie graduated from Memorial High School in St. Marys in 1966. While in St. Marys, her interests

varied, but most were centered on her love of horses and the locations where they were boarded; she still had fond memories of her very first horse, Lanie. She was also involved with toll painting along with her sister, as both were self-taught artists. Stephanie had also worked at the St. Marys Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant and Kiefaber Plumbing Supply. After several moves in New York and Pennsylvania, Steph and Steve settled in North Warren, beginning her employment at Whirley Drinkworks on Nov. 11, 1983, in the molding department. She transferred to the art department in 1985 as an artist and was promoted to assistant art director in 1995, a position she held until her illness. She enjoyed her work because of the fact she was able to put her artistic ability to her full potential. Even during her illness, her constant worry was for her co-workers, with which she had formed a strong bond. She considered them family. She had attended the Holy Redeemer Church. Steph’s interests leaned toward animals. She loved her dog Darwin, her standard poodle; her love for horses continued, and she volunteered at Double Rainbow Farms and was a trustee there. Her other interests included pottery, gardening, jewelry making, reading and being with her friends. Stephanie will be missed by her family and by her many loyal friends who were by her side until the end. With Stephanie’s fear of confined spaces, her wish was to be cremated. She was born June 18, 1935, in Wapakoneta, a daughter of Calvin and Mary (Winemiller) Elsass, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 26, 1959, she married Richard J. "Dick" Jurosic, and he survives. She is also survived by 4 children, Diane (Dennis) Clarq of Norfolk, VA, Mark A. Jurosic, John M. (Brenda) Jurosic both of Wapakoneta, Tim (Krista) Jurosic of Charlotte, NC; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Donald (Linda) Elsass of New Bern, NC; 1 sister, Kathy (Doug) Thrush of Rocky Mount, NC and several nieces and nephews. He was born on March 31, 1936, in Wapakoneta, the son of Ivan J. and Louise A. (Schmith) Jurosic, and they preceded him in death. On Dec. 26, 1959, he married Marilyn A. Elsass, and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2009. He is survived by 4 children, Diane (Dennis) Clarcq of Chapel Hill, NC, Mark Jurosic and John (Brenda) Jurosic, both of Wapakoneta, and Tim (Krista) Jurosic of Anna; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dorothy (Bob) Fritz of St. Marys, Betty (Mick) Thompson and Judy Jurosic, both of Bonita Springs, FL. Dick retired in 1997 as a machinist at Wapakoneta Machine Company after more than 40 years of service. A graduate of St. Joseph High School, Wapakoneta, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Fryburg. His other memberships included the K of C Council 1272, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 691, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445, all of Wapakoneta. Surviving are her daughters, Louisa (Paul) Boggs, Charlotte Freeman both of Fort Wayne, IN, and Nancy Alig of Portland, IN; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Yvonne Roeser of Akron.
