Moose Tails IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN (FOR THE SPRING MEAT SHOOT, THAT IS)

This March 9th (Saturday) and March 10th (Sunday) from 12 noon until dusk is our annual spring meat shoot at The Hut. As usual, we will have free food both days along with paddlewheel games and 5050's.

We're keeping the cost of each shot the same as it was in the fall, despite our costs going up. This is one of our major fund raisers for the year, so we hope you will come out and support this project.

To my Moose Legion Brothers we need you to come to our celebrations!! They are supposed to be fun events. But without participation it is hard to plan any games, meals or raffles!! Ever thought about being a ritualist? The ritual team is looking for new members that have and will take the time to learn their parts of the ritual. On a side note if we get enough people to have a ritual team we

can have mini celebrations to get folks into the Moose Legion while they practice their parts. Please remember you only get out of an organization what you put into it. How many of your Brothers have you asked to take the next step in the Fraternity? The more of us that step up to the next level the stronger the whole Fraternity becomes.

COMEDY NIGHTS Comedy Nights have been GREAT !! If you have not had a chance to come to one please get your tickets early they are going fast!! Different Comedians for each event so it is never boring :-)

PREFERRED MEMBERS PARTY Would you like to go to the preferred member’s party? All you have to do is sign up one new member between 31 April 2012 and 1 May 2013. While you’re at it sign a second and get your next year’s dues free. Believe it or not most of our membership production came from 6 people. Just think where we as a lodge could be if everyone just signed one new member. The WOTM have just about caught up to us in membership!! Not saying that is a bad thing ;-) they are cuter then you guy’s to Could you help us, please? If you have an email or snail mail address change contact me (Wayne) with this information. You wouldn’t believe how many copies of the newsletter come back to me each time we send it out. The last newsletter, 10 mailed copies were returned. That may not sound like many, but it was $4.50 in postage, and that is $4.50 that we cannot use for our programs. Will you please help?

FOR SALE

Tony Dodge has been selling caps to hopefully make the members stand out and people take notice (Hopefully for the good) ;-) He only has three of the Blue with the Lodge info on them for $3.00 each, and just a few Black or Tan Moose hats left for $8.00 each . First come, first served.

MEMBERSHIP, MEMBERSHIP Would you help a fellow Moose member out? Simple enough question. We have lost many members through the years. I keep asking the same question WHY? Most really don’t ever answer the question, they just don’t renew their membership. If you could give us a hand contacting the folks that are in the arrears, and get them back in; or find out why they will not renew, so we can try to fix it. This can be a daunting task for one person. With your help we can bring the folks back in and continue to build our fine Fraternity. Anthony & Caroyl Dodge, Retention Chairman \ Chairwoman

FROM THE GOVERNOR To the membership, As a newly voted in Governor for O’Fallon Moose Lodge 2608, I’d like to thank everyone who supported my position as Governor. I realize that I only have a few months left before the next election cycle; however, it is shaping up to be one of our busiest ‘ few months’ that we have had in the past couple years. Our first comedy night was a huge success. The national touring comedians were very good and the food was excellent. We have two more comedy nights on the upcoming schedule, so please be sure to look at the calendar at the back of this months Moose Tails so you can pencil in the date you want to attend. These events normally sell out and to my knowledge, Lodge 2608 is really the only place in the area that has a comedy event. Couple prices are $25 and we feed you! You can’t find a better deal than that anywhere.

and allowing us to use the kitchen. The new tables and chairs are only a small thank you. Our goal is to replace all the older ones until there are only new ones to use. The success of all or our lodge rests with the volunteers who help out at the fundraising events we are constantly having. One of the newest membership retention programs we are currently running involves our volunteers. Every time a volunteer helps out at an event (usually 4 hour time span), their name is written on a piece of paper and placed in a box. At the end of each quarter, a name is pulled from the box and Lodge 2608 will pay that winning volunteer’s dues for the upcoming year. This program applies equally to our sister WOTM chapter 2281. The more you volunteer, the better your chances are.

In closing, I would just like to thank everyone for their continued support. We are a family fraternity that will go to great lengths to assist children in need and our elderly. The more we work together in support of our programs, the more sucWhile on that topic, I’d like to thank the cessful we will be. RETURN SERVICE REQUESTED

The Last Word My Moose Brothers and Coworkers, I would like to ask you a question. Would you like to receive your newsletter via e-mail? Before everyone yells at me, I realize not everyone has e-mail, but those of us that do can really help out the lodge by opting to go this route. The cost of printing, folding, and postage per copy being mailed amounts to $1.51. If only 20 of us opt to go this way we can save the lodge $30.20 bi-monthly or $181.20 a year. So you can see that this cost can mount up very quickly. We have always tried to manage the Lodge’s money responsibly, so I hope you see where we are coming from. Please feel free to e-mail myself ([email protected] \ [email protected]) or Wayne ([email protected]) so we can build a list. This will also help us become a greener lodge. Fraternally, Tony
