Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much. -Helen Keller

Dear ESE Stallion Families, Welcome back to all returning families and a big Stallion WELCOME to all of our new families. I am so proud and honored to be working with an amazing group of parents this year on the PTA Board. We are so excited about this year and have been working very hard to bring you a great school year. As the new school year begins, we would once again ask for your support so that we can continue making resources and learning opportunities available to our ESE students and staff. You membership allows the PTA to raise funds to provide a wide range of activities throughout hte school year. Money that was raised last year through membership and fundraisers was used for ESE Staff Grants and for school improvements as we were able to give $7000 towards new iPads for ESE students. For our PTA to be truly effective and representative of the entire school, everyone’s participation is essential. Many parents feel they cannot participate in the PTA because they cannot come to all of the meetings or be on campus during the day. We want everyone to feel that they are part of the ESE Community. Whether you have 1 hour a month, your ideas, your talents and simply your VOICE is truly needed. We can match any time constraint and interest to needed tasks. There are endless possibilities in ways you can help and we need YOU! By volunteering at our school, you will get to interact with the students, become friends with other parents, and accomplish things that truly make a difference. Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education have better grades and fewer discipline problems. We promise that the time you give to the PTA and the school will be worth your while – and fun! Please consider volunteering as it really does make a difference in the lives of all our students! As we look forward to this upcoming year, I want to give you an overview of what we have planned. We will have PTA meetings on Thursdays at 6:30 pm on the following dates: September 8, October 6, November 17, February 9, April 6 and May 4. We will have free childcare available and provide dinner for the kids. Please join us as we will be hosting various programs and discussing activities we have planned for our ESE community. Huntington Learning Center will be presenting at our first PTA meeting this September so come learn new ways to help your child succeed in school. Here are just a few activities your PTA will be bringing you this year:  All Pro Dad’s – a time for Dad’s or other father figures to spend quality time with their children.  Family Movie Nights – we will be hosting 3 fun-filled family events throughout the year.  Book Fair – be on the lookout for hidden treasures this fall.  Holiday Shop – a time for kids to be able to “shop” for their loved ones.  Breakfast With My Peeps – this was a huge hit last year and will be held again in the spring.  Carnival – this will be on May 13th and we have many new surprises in store! We have 3 fundraisers planned for this year:  Fall – Deanan Gourmet Popcorn sale to raise money for ESE Staff Grants and Family Events.  Winter – Read-A Thon fundraiser to purchase additional books for the library and help reach our school improvement goal.  Spring – World’s Finest Chocolate – Two years ago, we were able to purchase the new playground from these chocolate sales and this year our goal is to purchase a shade for the playset. All our fundraisers are goal-driven and we appreciate all of your support! We can not accomplish any of this without your support! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Have a wonderful school year and we look forward to seeing you at our first PTA meeting on September 8th. Sincerely, Kristi Ferguson, PTA President
