Scientific Content The course will give a basic understanding and update on disease mechanisms in rheumatic diseases as well as on treatment. We will also give an update on basic immunology in context of rheumatic diseases and its role in rheumatic diseases. The diseases that will be discussed are both common inflammatory as well as non-inflammatory rheumatic diseases and rare diseases. Some examples of topics: • • • •

Up-to-date management of degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis Up-to-date knowledge on pathogenesis and management of gout, systemic sclerosis, inflammatory myopathy, vasculitis, and spondyloarthitis especially ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis Up-to-date knowledge on how to prevent comorbidities in rheumatic diseases such as treatment of rheumatic diseases in pregnancy and vaccination on rheumatic disease patients

Course description A 4 days (Wednesday lunchtime to Saturday lunchtime) refresher course in basic and clinical rheumatology taught by selected faculty of APLAR experts in a very interactive environment. Participants will have the opportunity to meet the experts of rheumatic diseases from Asia Pacific region in a friendly setting and network with other participants from all over Asia Pacific countries.
