Terminal Installation

1.1 Product Package.

1.2 Previous Recommendations This product was originally designed for indoor installation. If you must install it outdoors, however, do not expose the terminal to direct sunlight, snow, or rain. The connection cables should not be exposed outside, and it is highly recommended to bury them underground. Please follow the installation guide. The performance can be decreased if the product is installed incorrectly. The following diagram shows a simple installation of the Biometric Employee Punch Clock Enterprise Version.

1.3 Installation For correct installation for the NAC 3000 you must first prepare the installation site with an electric alimentation contact, a TCP/IP cable connected to you local area network and the communication cables with the electric door. After you have decided where you want to install the terminal with the bracket, make 2 holes for cable insertion to the wall as shown in the blue and shaded area in the image below. Then, align the bracket with the holes, and fasten it with 4 bolts, as shown in the red circles.

In the back of the terminal you have access for the connectors to attach the devices. In the image below, the connections are numbered 1 through 4. 1. Power alimentation. 2. TCP/IP connector. 3. Lock door Connector. 4. Jumper #3 (If you want to connect an electric door, make sure to set the terminal [JP3] as OPEN. The factory default of the terminal [JP3] is JUMPER.)

To connect the electric door, you need to use the housing and the receptacle to attach the two cables to the door as shown in the following image (Ground cable to PIN 1 and Signal cable to PIN 6).

Fastening the terminal Finally, insert the grooves of the terminal into the two hooks of the fastened bracket as shown in image below.

Chapter 2

Terminal Settings

2.1 Configuration Now, you need to configure the network settings in order to communicate with the server.

First, you must configure two initial settings Fingerprint Number Set number 3 for the select number of fingerprints you can enroll for each user ID. Move to the value with the direction keys and press the Enter key.

ID Length Specify the user ID length. Select 4.

Now, go to the Submenu to choose network option with the direction keys and press the Enter key.

Terminal ID Set a unique ID for the terminal. Considering that several terminals can be connected to the server via the network, make sure that the ID matches the one specified in the management program.

TCP/IP DHCP: You can decide whether or not to use DHCP that automatically assigns IP addresses to network clients. We recommend you assign a specific IP for the terminal by selecting the option OFF.

Terminal IP An IP address consists of 4 numbers, and each of the numbers has 3 digits. Entering all 3 digits for a number will move the cursor to the next field so that you can start to enter the next number. However, you should press the Enter key to move to the next field if a number has less than 3 digits.

Subnet Mask The first two numbers of Subnet Mask are fixed as 255.255. Enter the rest of the numbers the same way you enter the terminal IP address.

Gateway Enter the Gateway address the same way you enter the terminal IP address.

Server IP Enter the Biometric Employee Punch Clock Server IP address the same way you enter the terminal IP address.

The terminal has been satisfactorily configured!

If the server is running, you will see on the top of the terminal that the green LED is on.

Format Terminal Memory In case you need to erase all the information saved on the terminal, below are the steps to do this (Only the master user can do this operation, which in most cases is the main Administrator account for the Biometric Employee Punch Clock). 1. Press the menu button.

3. Place your finger to be authorized. 4. Select the option Factory Init and DB format option.

5. Then go back to step 2.1 of this chapter to reconfigure the terminal.

Chapter 3

Terminal Management

3.1 Terminal management with Biometric Employee Punch Clock Enterprise Edition The enterprise edition for the Biometric Employee Punch supports the NAC 3000 TCP/IP terminals for the Check In/Out operation and access control. Also, you can control an electric lock door, recording the log access. To access the management window, open the administration menu and select the Terminal Manager option. Only the administrator(s) can modify any terminal setting. In order to manage the terminals, you need to be login as an Administrator.

The application will show a window with a list of the current terminals loaded for the server and the general information for each one. From this window you can select a terminal and access the details to check, modify any parameter, or assign or deny access to users. In order to access to the detail windows, select the terminal and click on the Settings button as shown in the next image.

3.2 Terminal Details This is the configuration window where you can modify the operation mode, the electric door settings, and which employees can access the terminal.

IP Address: This is the IP address assigned when the terminal was installed for first time. It is unique on the local area network and is read only. Terminal name: Description for the terminal to be recognized. This name will appear on the Employee Times Report and The Terminal Log Report. You can modify this setting whenever you want. Operation Mode: The terminal can be used for Time & Attendance mode, and you can also control an electric door to work as an Access Control manager. If you select “Time and Attendance,” the employee only needs to place the finger to be authenticated, and the application will make the next operation. If the last operation was a Check In, the application will record a Check Out. If you select the “Time & Attendance + Door” the employees have to insert F1 for check in and F2 for check out and place the finger to be authorized. If the employee only places the finger, the application only authorizes the employee and only records an entry access. If the company has more than 100 employees, we recommend entering the employee code in every operation, before placing the finger to be recognized. RF Card Type: The NAC 3000 Terminal device works with RF Cards. With this option, specify the card frequency to work with. Security Level 1:1: This is the precision level for employee recognition when the employee types his/her code. Security Level 1:N: This is the precision level used when the employee only places the finger, and the application makes the match evaluator for all the employees to find which one is correct. We recommend setting this security level to 8 to avoid recognition mistakes. Use Beep on Key press: The terminal can beep when one employee types any key. Use Voice: The terminal plays a female voice asking to place the finger and returning the authorization result.

If the terminal mode operation is “Terminal & attendance + Door”, you have more settings: - Which days the terminal is going to work. - Beginning and end hour to work. - Seconds to keep the electric door open. - Seconds to warn when the door is opened (this option is not supported in some electric doors). i.e. In the next image, the terminal is configured to work from Monday to Friday, from 7 in the morning to 7 in the evening, keeping the door opened for 5 seconds

In the Employee list tab you can select which employees can access this terminal and who will be the master users (users who can format the terminal database).

Download Employees information from Server on Each Operation. With this option, the authorization process is on the Server, and the terminal does not save the fingerprint information. Only the master users’ fingerprint information is saved. Upload Employee to the Terminal memory. Only the employees in the list are able to make operations on this terminal, even when the communication with the server is not working (electric, network or Server PC problem). The terminal saves in memory all the operations; and when the terminal can communicate with the server , it sends all the records to be inserted on the Biometric Employee Punch Clock Data Base.

3.3 Terminal Messages All the terminal messages are image files that can be edited or modified for customization. Need Configuration (needconfig.bmp): This Image appears when the terminal has not configured from the Biometric Employee Punch Clock. At this point the terminal can not operate.

Lost Connection (notconnected.bmp): If for some reason the terminal lost the communication with the server, for network or electric problems, or if the Biometric Employee Punch Clock Server computer is down.

Ready (Ready.bmp): When you see this message, all is working properly.

Check In Confirmation (checkin.bmp): This message appears after the employee has been authorized, and the Check In operation is done.

Check Out Confirmation (checkout.bmp): This message appears after the employee has been authorized and the Check Out operation is done.

Deny Access (auth.bmp): This message appears when the employee tries to be authorized on a nonworking day or hour.

Need Authorization (blocked.bmp): In the group details, there is an option to ask for authorization when one employee tries to arrive late or leave early. This message also appears when the application has configured the option to block the employee if they forget to check out from their previous shift. In this case the employee can not register the check operation, and can only have entry access if the terminal mode is on the “Time & Attendance + Door.”

Continuous Check Protection (5min.bmp): This is the message to Project double check operations for one employee. You can configure this setting in Application Options.
