SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR 2011 IOWA SPRING HORSE SHOW ARRIVAL TIME: Stalls will be available at 12:00 noon Friday, April 15th. Anyone arriving before specified times must make arrangements with the Show Manager. The Show Manager will post stall assignments outside the Barn Office, located at the bottom of the ramp to the warm-up arena. Please do not stall any horse unless a stall has been assigned. DEPARTURE TIME: All horses and equipment must be removed from the Iowa Equestrian Center by 11:00 PM on the last day of the show. Anyone planning a early/late departure must make arrangements with the IEC, and will be charged $15.00 per day per stall. LOCATION: The Iowa Equestrian Center is located on the South side of the Kirkwood Community College Campus, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. From I-380 South of Cedar Rapids, take Exit 13 and go East to Kirkwood Blvd. Then turn left and go North until 76th Ave. and turn right. CAMPING: The IEC has 28 electric hook-ups available for campers at $25.00 per night. All camping arrangements and fees are to be handled through the Show Office. Non-Electric camping is allowed at no charge. STALLING: The main facility has 210 10 X 10 stalls, additional stalling is available in a second barn where there are 107 8 x 8 stalls. All with Doors Stalling is limited so make your entries early for best possible location. Every horse must have a stall. HOST HOTEL: There are rooms blocked at the Hotel at Kirkwood, just west of the IEC on the corner of 76th Ave. and Kirkwood Blvd. Rooms will be RELEASED on April 1. You MUST mention the Iowa Arabian Horse Association to get the $89/night room rate plus tax. 319-8488700. Book your rooms ASAP, there is a soccer tournament in town and rooms are difficult to find.

POST ENTRIES will be accepted. There is a one-time Post Entry Fee Charge Of $30.00 per horse for all entries postmarked after March 27, 2011. Horses properly entered in the show on or before the deadline will be exempt from this penalty for additional classes entered after the deadline. All post class entries must be made at least one hour before the start of the session in which the class will be held. Entries must be properly made on the official entry form in the name of the legal owner or lessee, giving the legal owner’s/lessee’s complete address. NOTE: Leased horses cannot be shown in Amateur Owner to Ride/Drive/Handle Classes. Entries must be signed in all the required places and accompanied by the required copies of registration and membership cards. Show packets and exhibitor numbers will not be released until all the information on the entry form is properly completed.

EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES WESTERN HORSEMANSHIP CHAMPIONSHIP: Riders must have competed in any other regular Western Horsemanship class at this show. HUNT SEAT ON THE FLAT CHAMPIONSHIP: Riders must have competed in any other regular Hunt Seat on the Flat Equitation Class at this show. Riders to be judged on seat and hands. Light contact with the horse’s mouth is required. Riders to work both ways of the ring at a walk, trot and canter. AHA MEDAL CLASSES

AHA Saddle Seat Medal class. a. In addition to the rail work, all contestants are required to perform two or more individual tests from USEF Tests (EQ 120) 1-15 (EC equivalent). Markers shall not be used. USEF Test 16 may only be called for at the National Shows. AHA Reining Seat Medal class. a. All contestants are required to perform a Reining pattern as outlined in USEF Reining Division (EC equivalent). b. Order of go will be done by draw. c. Bits must be dropped and inspected by the Judge or designated official, and all riders must dismount for this inspection. If called for in the ring, assistance, if necessary, may be had from one of the ring officials. d. Reins shall not be removed from the horse's neck while inspecting bits. e. In the event the total score is tied, the tie will first be broken by the exhibitor with the highest equitation score. Should a tie still exist, the tie shall be broken by reining rules in RN 103.2. f. It is mandatory that judges use the prescribed AHA Score Seat for Reining Seat Equitation and that the score sheet or a copy be posted immediately after each class. AHA Hunter Seat Not to Jump Medal class. a. In addition to the rail work, all contestants are required to perform two or more tests from USEF Equitation Division, EQ 113. Tests From Which Judges Must Choose. AHA Western Horsemanship Medal class. a. In addition to the rail work, all contestants are required to perform a minimum of four tests from USEF Arabian, Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian Division, Subchapter Western Horsemanship, AR-26.

Main barn has 206 10 x 10 stalls, 110 additional stalls are available under separate cover. Please call for stalls early! BREEDING IN-HAND & GELDING IN-HAND CLASSES & CHAMPIONSHIPS: Exhibitors showing yearlings and weanlings are encouraged to read the appropriate USEF and AHA rules & regulations. You may show yearlings in Junior Championship classes, but not in Grand & Reserve Championship classes. Exception: PB or HA yearling geldings may compete for Champion Gelding. RETURNED CHECKS: Checks returned to IaAHA for any reason will be assessed an additional $25.00 fee per check. If restitution is not made immediately upon first verbal or written notification, IaAHA will take appropriate action with USEF and AHA, and payer will be barred from taking place in any IaAHA show until final settlement is made. IaAHA reserves the right to require certified funds from any individual that has had a check returned to IaAHA. DEFINITIONS: Specification for Maiden, Novice, and Limit Maiden: A horse or rider that has NOT earned 1 Blue Ribbon in a particular discipline Novice: A horse or rider that has NOT earned 3 Blue Ribbons in a particular discipline Limit: A horse or rider that has NOT earned 6 Blue Ribbons in a particular discipline NO SHOW RULE: To expedite the flow of classes, scratches must be reported to the Show Office or Gate before the beginning of the class. If scratches are not reported a $10.00 No Show Fee will be assessed per class. MOTORIZED VEHICLE: Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Rule 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. TBA CLASSES: TBA classes will be added for a fee of $60.00 each. The fee will be refunded if there are 4 or more entries in the class. Final decision on class additions are at the discretion of the show management. Stick Horse Class Specifications: To be shown in any appropriate attire, enter the ring the first direction at a walk. To be shown at a walk, trot (or jog) both directions of the arena. Judge may ask exhibitors to back individually or as

SHOWING OF STALLIONS: Stallions may be shown by ladies or junior exhibitors in all classes, except Showmanship at halter and any class for children 10 and under. EQUITATION: All classes shall be conducted in accordance with the USEF Rules as modified by the Arabian Horse Association. AHA Medal rules are found in the current AHA Handbook which may be obtained by writing AHA, 10805 East Bethany Dr., Aurora, CO 80014-2605. DOGS: All dogs MUST be confined to a leash at all times. No dogs will be allowed in the Show Arena at any time.

CLASS CHANGES/SCRATCHES: A fee of $10.00 will be charged for the first class change; all additional class changes subject to original class fee. ALL scratches must be reported to the show office or gate person before the beginning of the class. If scratches are not reported a $10.00 NO SHOW fee will be assessed per class. COMMUNICATION DEVICES: Use of any electronic/radio communication devices is prohibited when in visual contact with the show ring during the show by anyone other than appropriate show committee members and Fairgrounds personnel, except as allowed by USEF. Radios that interfere with radio communication between show office, gate/paddock manager and center ring will not be allowed. SHOW FACILITY INFORMATION: The Show Arena is 100’ x 200’ with sand footing, the warm up arena is 80’ x 122’ with sand footing, both are covered and attached to the stall barn. Additional warm-up arena is 300’ x 130’ has sand and clay footing and is outdoors and uncovered. There is to be NO vehicles in the horse barn, no paper bedding, NO alterations of horse stalls, all horses on

make entries. Post entries should be made ASAP. It would be appreciated if your class entries were made as follows 8:00 PM for next morning classes 11:00 AM for afternoon classes 3:00 PM for evening classes Show office MUST be advised promptly of entry changes/cancellations. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN ADDITIONAL FEES. REFUNDS FOR CLASS ENTRIES ONLY will be made upon presentation to the show secretary (delivered in person to show office or mailed) a signed and dated Veterinarian’s Certificate by NOON of the day following the close of the show. All refunds will be made by mail within 15 days of day of show closing, unless used as credit to show tab — payment of refunds during the show may be made by the show treasurer if approved in sufficient time to conveniently handle. Vet Outs that occur at the show will receive class fees for the classes they had to vet out and they cannot re-enter the show. PRIZE MONEY: All prize checks will be MAILED within 30 days after the completion of the show. CHECKS MUST BE CASHED WITHIN 60 DAYS. Those placing in classes required to show back in Championships will not receive their check unless they have shown back in their required Championship class. CALL FOR CLASSES/GATE HOLDS: Classes will be called promptly by the announcer. There will be 3 calls for classes, whenever possible; the first two calls will be made at reasonable intervals. The third call will be made while ribbons are being awarded in the preceding class; exception, the FIRST CLASS of each session should be at the gate at the scheduled time for commencement of the session. TWO MINUTES will be allowed after the first horse enters the ring. When tack changes are necessary, it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to notify the gatekeeper for a THREE MINUTE HOLD which may be allowed provided the gate is notified at least one class in advance which permits proper notification to ringmaster and center ring. Exhibitors requesting a hold must notify gate promptly when tack change has been completed so class can enter ring without further unnecessary delay. CALL FOR CLASSES MUST BE CONSIDERED A COURTESY. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be certain his horse is at the gate at the prescribed time. All scratches must be reported to the Show Office or Gate before the beginning of the class. If scratches are not reported, an improper scratch fee may be imposed. IEC FACILITY RULES: • The Iowa Equestrian Center is a No Smoking facility. • All dogs must be on a leash at all times while at the Iowa Equestrian Center. • All alcoholic beverages must he purchased from the Iowa Equestrian Center. Bringing alcoholic beverages onto the facility site is prohibited. • All bedding must be purchased through the show office, no bedding may be brought in. Manure is to be dumped in designated areas only. • The Main Arena will not be available until after College classes are completed on Thursday. 10

STALLS MAY BE RESERVED BY PAYMENT OF STALL FEES IN ADVANCE: Stalls will be assigned on a first paid, first served basis, taking number of stalls into consideration. Payments of stall fees in advance only reserves the number of stalls paid for BUT DOES NOT ELIMINATE LATE CHARGE OF $30.00 PER HORSE unless entries with full payment accompanies stall requests. STALL FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE whether they are used or not. Excess stalls should be reported to the Barn Manager and if the stall is sold, credit will be allowed ONLY if all other stalls have been sold, even though Barn Manager has the option to use stalls released as excess. BARN MANAGER IS RESPONSIBLE TO DETERMINE ALL STALL ASSIGNMENTS AND ALLOWANCE OF STALL REFUNDS, IF ANY. NO STALLS ASSIGNED TO YOU CAN BE USED BY ANOTHER EXHIBITOR WITHOUT CONSENT OF THE BARN MANAGER. Exhibitors wishing to be stalled together should send their entries in together and/or send a complete list naming those exhibitors who wish to be stalled together. The Show Committee reserves the right to limit tack stalls to 1 for every 3 horses if it becomes necessary, WITHOUT NOTIFICATION PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. Note: Portable stalling must be used when numbers of entries requires additional stalls. Note: Horses will not be allowed to show out of a trailer. They must have an assigned stall. BEDDING: Bedding IS NOT INCLUDED in the price of a stall. Bedding will be available on the grounds. Per contract requirements, no bedding is allowed to be brought in. All horse stalls that have not pre-ordered bedding will be predelivered 2 bags of bedding and charged accordingly. If your horse requires alternative bedding, a Vet certificate is required. Please contact the Barn Manager for bedding requests or order your shavings on the entry form. ARRIVAL TIME: Horses will be regularly accepted from NOON the day before the show opens and stalls will be assigned at that time. Barn Manager will post stall assignment chart outside the show office (bottom of the ramp to the warm-up arena) showing assignments of prepaid stalls. Persons wishing to arrive on grounds prior to the accepted arrival time must make special arrangements with the Barn Manager. DO NOT STALL A HORSE UNTIL PREPAID STALL HAS BEEN ASSIGNED. Unassigned horses must be checked in with the Barn Manager before being stalled and no horses may switch stalls without knowledge and consent of the Barn Manager. DEPARTURE TIME: All stalls MUST BE VACATED BY the conclusion of the show. Persons needing to remain on grounds after this time must make special arrangements with the Show Management and pay any additional fee. Show Office may be able to assist you with arrangements. SHOW OFFICE HOURS: Show office will open no later than 5:00pm on Friday and remain open no later than 8:00 PM. Each day of the show, the show office will open for business no later than 7:00 AM and will close from time to time during the show and will be open no later than one half hour after the last class of the day, unless otherwise announced. Exhibitors are encouraged to report to the show office promptly to pick up show packets, correct any pending items, or 15

2011 SPRING SHOW CLASSES BY DIVISION EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH. Any changes in the USEF rules will automatically become a part of this Premium Book. USEF MEMBERSHIP Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 nonmember registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. AHA MEMBERSHIP: Any owner, trainer, driver, rider or halter handler (including youth) who exhibits horses in the show ring MUST be a member of AHA or pay a single event member fee of $35.00 per person, to be included with entry fee. (Exception: Walk Trot and Lead Line) OWNERSHIP/MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: Ownership of a horse is determined by the owner as it appears on the horse’s registration papers. Only one owner per entry form is allowed. If entry forms are copied, both sides of the entry form MUST be copied. PHOTOCOPIES REQUIRED TO BE SENT IN WITH ENTRIES: (1) Horse registration papers - BOTH FRONT AND BACK, (2) Current AHA membership card. (3) Current USEF membership card with Amateur Certification, if applicable. Note, that AHA & USEF Affidavits will no longer be accepted. USEF membership applications will be available at the show office for persons wishing to join at the show. (4) Anyone desiring to meet AHA membership requirement at the show by joining the Arabian Horse Association may do so by requesting a form or at the show office. LATE ENTRY CHARGES: Entries postmarked after midnight of established closing date and not received by the established receipt date, will be charged LATE CHARGE of $30.00 per horse. TBA {To Be Announced Classes} There are a limited number of To Be Announced class spots and those classes will be filled and time slots will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis sent along with payment of fees. Choosing to hold the class requires a $60 fee. After the initial fee is paid, additional entries will pay the standard $25 to enter. Please request your class and time slot preference with your pre-entries. Arabian Breeders Sweepstakes points cannot be earned from any class on the TBA list. Any class on the AHA standard class list may be chosen, except the following divisions: trail, western trail, sport horse in-hand, sport horse under saddle, sport horse show hack, dressage, poles, hunter hack, working hunter, jumper, working cow horse, or reined cow horse. Any class purchased may be given any acceptable divisions, age splits or extensions from the standard AHA class list (i.e. ATR/Limit/AOTR/Open/JR Horse/etc). “Jack Pot classes” Class 68. Jackpot Arabian/Half Arabian/AA Hunter Pleasure ATR** Class 72. Jackpot Arabian/Half Arabian/AA Western Pleasure ATR** ** Riders in each class must not have been a Regional Champion nor have won a National Top Ten or higher. (Exception: National Top Tens or Higher in Select Rider class for that discipline.) Qualifications are on the rider only. $500.00 will be awarded to the winner of class 68 and $500.00 will be awarded to the winner of class 72. Second place will receive 40%, third place 25%, fourth place 15%, and fifth place 10% of the class entry fee. Number of class entries will determine amount of payback for second through fifth place of classes 68 and 72. Classes 68 and 72 are non qualifying classes and are not required to show back in championship classes. Call judge will determine class winner in case of a tie.

“Getting to Know You” Exhibitor Pizza Party on Friday night. Pizza and pop for exhibitors and their families outside the show office at the bottom of the ramp. 6 P.M. until gone. Bring a dessert to share if you like. Coffee, hot chocolate and donuts each morning of the show, outside the show office. Join our youth group in an exciting game of Twister, Saturday night. I hear some of our youth really have “the bends”.
