INVES T I NG FOR T H E F U T URE If you like excitement, discovery, adventure and romance, you should love The Center forWooden Boats. Whether you walk the docks for free, watching or joining a medley of activities, you have taken a journey into experiential education. CWB is the place where you can learn to sail a variety of traditional small craft, build a replica historic boat, cast bronze, make oars, tie knots, build models, learn celestial navigation. Preschoolers hear stories of the sea onboard a historic vessel. Elementary school kids build toy boats and paddle an umiaq around Lake Union. Middle and high school students build plank-on-frame boats and learn to sail them. Teenagers become summer apprentices. Families get free Sunday rides on our sailing gillnetter Admirable, sailing sharpies Betsy D. and Colleen Wagner, steam launch Puffin, and electric launch Dora. You’ve got to admit you can’t beat CWB for a cheap date! Our Auction is an investment in keeping afloat The Center for Wooden Boats, one of our community’s most valuable assets. CWB is the place where history is in your hands. Bid frequently and generously.

Then contestants mix and mingle, encouraging Auction guests to vote for them. Vote for your favorite costumes at the Costume Contest table or with the contestants themselves. The winner will be the costume with the highest dollar amount of votes. Polls close at 7 pm. The top three contestants will be invited on stage after the Dessert Dash for a final round of voting.

B A LLO ON P OP Balloons may be purchased for $25 each, which gives you a chance at winning fabulous prizes! Prizes include certificates to local restaurants and stores and other unique items! Values range from $25 to $400, so you’re guaranteed to get your money’s worth!

AUC T ION RULE S A bid number is required to bid on items. Upon arrival at the Registration Check-In area, each guest will be given a bid number and bid card. You will use this number to place bids on items of interest, so please keep it close to you throughout the evening. The auction cashiers will accept cash, personal checks and most major credit cards. We strongly encourage you to use our Express Pay option: your credit card is swiped at the beginning of the evening, then you can leave with your items as soon as the event ends - no waiting in another line! At the end of the evening, bidders who do not take advantage of the convenient Express Pay system will need to go to the Registration area to pay for their purchases. Purchases will be set out for pick-up along the sides of the room prior to the end of the Live Auction. Your credit card receipt will be mailed to you. If you are not using Express Pay and need to leave before the end of the Live Auction, please allow 45 minutes following the close of the last Silent Auction for your items to be processed. To the best of our ability, the descriptions in this catalog are correct. All items are available for inspection before placing your bid. In the case of certificate items, a copy of the actual certificate is available for inspection before bidding. In the event of a typographical error or omission on an item, The Center for Wooden Boats’ liability shall be limited to the highest successful bid on that item. All sales are final and all items are to be removed the evening of the auction. If that is not possible, please inform the Registration Desk. Items not picked up by March 8, 2014, may be reentered in next year’s auction without refund, at the discretion of The Center for Wooden Boats.

SI LE N T AUC T ION 1. There will be three silent auctions. Bidding on items in the silent auctions begins at 5 p.m. 2. All items have a bid sheet attached. To bid, you must write your bid number on the line corresponding to the amount you wish to bid. 3. To guarantee a winning bid for an item, place your bid number in the “Guarantee Purchase” box and sign that item’s bid sheet. 4. The silent auctions will close in 20-minute intervals, beginning at 6:20 pm. Once a silent auction is closed, no additional bids will be accepted. The highest bidder at the time of closing wins the item, so be sure to check on your desired items often!

LI V E AUC T ION 1. To bid on an item, hold up your bidder card and hold it high! Or signal the auctioneer so that he acknowledges you. 2. Highest bidder wins! 3. As purchaser, you confirm the sale by verbal communication with the Auctioneer, which constitutes a legal contract to buy the item. Please note all restrictions and expiration dates. 4. The auctioneer reserves the right to settle any disputes and his decisions will be final. 5. Unless otherwise noted, all items expire on March 1, 2015. The portion paid over the listed fair market value of the item is the taxdeductible amount. Please feel free to add an additional tax-deductible donation over the total purchase price when paying for your items. The Center for Wooden Boats is a non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our tax identification number is 91-1061721.
