Sensitivity to Client Characteristics 



Audience sensitivity in written communication is the ability to adopt a tone, format, level of detail and style appropriate to the needs, knowledge and expertise of the audience.

Oral Advocacy Basic Competence 



Written communication basic proficiency requires the use of conventions of grammar, spelling, punctuation, diction and usage appropriate to the task and sufficient to convey effectively the author’s ideas.

Audience Sensitivity in Written Communication 



Recognition and resolution of ethical issues outside the context of the student’s coursework in her/his Professional Responsibility class involves the ability to identify ethical issues in practice and mockpractice contexts and make appropriate decisions to resolve such issues.

Written Communication Basic Proficiency 



Sensitivity to client characteristics is reflected in the adoption of client-related actions that reflect an awareness of and sensitivity to the client’s background and circumstances (including the client’s socio-economic, gender, race, ethnicity, educational, disability and/or religious background(s)).

Recognition of Ethical Issues Outside PR 



Client-focused decision-making involves the awareness of the client’s needs and goals and the ability to make decisions about drafting and strategy matters that reflect an appropriate focus on those needs and goals.

Oral communication basic proficiency requires appropriate courtroom manner, the skillful application of law to facts, persuasiveness, the ability to field questions, and organization.

Audience Sensitivity in Oral Communication 

Audience sensitivity in oral communication is the ability to adopt a tone, style and level of detail appropriate to the needs, knowledge and expertise of the audience.

Class Format 

This is a skills class and requires group participation both in class and outside of class. 



In class participation requires attendance.  



There are no make-up participation assignments. Role Play is an integral part of the learning process. Preparation is mandatory.

On-Line Discussion Forum 

The Discussion Forum will provide challenging ethical/moral issues    

 

Students will discuss the issues in a matter-of-fact manner Many discussions will raise politically incorrect fact patterns Appropriate conduct toward each other is expected at all times. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Open discussion of stereotypes, politically incorrect statements and controversial views are encouraged.

There will be 4 writing assignments Final Exam: 

Discussion Forum 





The materials for this class will be posted on-line The discussion forum is mandatory and counts toward participation points. Forum Rules:  Questions

posted will not have an easy right or wrong answer.  The intent is to discuss the moral/ethical implications without personal attacks, or character assignations.  The objective is to think about all of the options – especially those that are not politically correct. These are the ethical and moral dilemmas you will struggle with in practice.

Writing Assignments 





4 Written Assignments Each assignment will have written instructions, read the instructions and follow them. Format  14
