OBJECTIVE The main objective of the Conference is to set a platform for the discussion and exchange of views among academicians, strategists, and practitioners coming from different backgrounds and countries. Through this annual Conference, the participants are provided an opportunity to present their valuable scientific contributions and to establish an international network among those who volunteer to communicate and study together in the field of strategic management.

HISTORY 1st International Strategic Management Conference was organized by three academic institutions, namely Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Gebze Institute of Technology, Istanbul Commerce University in Canakkale, Turkey between the dates of June 23-25, 2005 with the theme of “Strategic Management from National and Global Perspectives”. About 250 participants from different countries abroad the world presented 120 paper. 2nd International Strategic Management Conference was held on June 8-10, 2006 in Istanbul- Turkey, at Dedeman Hotel with the academic collaboration of Beykent University, Gebze Institute of Technology, Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University and Istanbul Commerce University, with the theme of “Strategies for Navigating through National, Regional and Global Challenges & Crises”. About 120 participants from 12 different countries, including Mexico, Estonia, South Africa, Sweden, Finland, Bosnia, Livonia, Australia, United States of America, Czech Republic and Turkey participate in the Conference. Through the detailed work of Advisory Board and Paper review Committee, only 70 papers were accepted 3rd International Strategic Management Conference was held in Antalya on June 21 – 23, 2007 at Dedeman Convention Centre (Resort Dedeman, Antalya) through the collaboration of Gebze Institute of Technology, Beykent University and Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University. 130 paper from 25 different countries are submitted to our conference. 88

papers focusing on the theme for the conference, “Advances in Crafting Competitive Strategies for National and International Markets”, were accepted to be presented at the Conference. 4th International Strategic Management Conference was held between the dates of 19-21 June, 2008 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina with the academic collaboration of Beykent University, Gebze Institute of Technology and Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, International University of Sarajevo with the theme of “Exploring for International Competition and Cooperation Strategies to Foster Regional Development”. 142 papers submitted from 20 different countries. Peer review committee members accepted 97 paper for the conference. 189 academician from 15 different countries participated in the Conference. 5th International Strategic Management Conference was held in Stellenbosch, South Africa (40 kilometers from Cape Town), between the dates of July 2 – 4, 2009 at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study, with the collaboration of the Gebze Institute of Technology, Beykent University, Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University and Stellenbosch University with the theme of, “Striking the Right Balance Between Existing Strategy and New Opportunities with Special Emphasis on Turbulent Markets” . 123 academicians from 15 different countries of the world participated in the 5th ISMC with 83 papers. Papers were submitted by the scientists from Europe, Balkan states, Russia, Middle East, Africa, Australia and USA. The countries providing reports are as follows in alphabetical order; Albania, Australia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Canada, France, Hungary, Iran, Lithuania, Russia, Kuwait, Pakistan, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom and USA. 6th International Strategic Management Conference was held in St. Petersburg, Russia, between the dates of July 8 – 10, 2010 at St. Petersburg Holliday in Hotel. It was organized jointly by Beykent University of Istanbul, Turkey, the Gebze Institute of Technology of Kocaeli, Turkey, and the Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University of Canakkale, with the collaboration of St. Petersburg State University and the kind support of The Central Bank of Turkey. The conference theme, “Searching for Strategies out of the Global

Recession,” was part of the conference’s standing agenda of forging workable solutions from the convening of scientific study and practical experience. 262 papers from 33 different countries were submitted. After careful screening, 145 papers were accepted to be presented at the 6th ISMC.. 7th International Strategic Management Conference was organized jointly by Beykent University of Istanbul, the Gebze Institute of Technology of Kocaeli, and the Onsekiz Mart University of Çanakkale, Turkey, between the dates of June 30-July 2, 2011 in Paris-France, with the theme of “Investigating Strategies of Recovery from the Recession”. 7th ISM received a total 232 papers from 37 different countries including Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, China, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Macedonia, Norway, Romania, Pakistan, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Turkey. The Proceedings of 7th International Strategic Management Conference, including 145 papers, was published on-line by Elsevier in its “Procedia Social and Behavioral Sciences” publication, which is indexed by the Conference Proceedings

After careful screening by the peer review committee members, 192 papers were selected for presentation. 9th International Strategic Management Conference was organized by Arel University of Istanbul, Turkey, and the Gebze Institute of Technology of Kocaeli, Turkey, in collaboration with the University of Latvia of Riga, Latvia, and cooperation of Elsevier and Emerald Group. The conference was held in Riga, Latvia, between the dates of June 27-29, 2013, with the theme of “New Directions in Sustainable Growth and Innovation Strategies”. The 9th International Strategic Management Conference received a total 188 extended abstracts from 25 different countries. After carefully screening, 134 full papers were accepted for the Conference. Among accepted papers, 10 papers were selected to be published in Journal of Global Strategic Management. Remaining 124 papers were published on-line by Elsevier in its “Procedia Social and Behavioral Sciences” publication (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/18770428/99) . 10th International Strategic Management Conference was critical one. In early 2014 the International Strategic Management Conference had a change of leadership. Following the sudden passing away of the founding Chairman Professor Erol Eren, Professor Lutfihak Alpkan, one of the closest allies of Professor Eren’s since the inception of the Conference, assumed chairmanship of the Conference while Professor Oya Erdil, one of the Co-Chairs of the Conference since its inception, became the Chair of the International Strategic Management and Managers Association, the main sponsoring institution of the Conference. Five months later, the 10th International Strategic Management Conference was held in Rome, Italy, between the dates of

June 19-21. It was organized by Okan University of Istanbul, Turkey, the Gebze Institute of Technology of Kocaeli, Turkey, Yalova University of Yalova, Turkey and Yıldız Technical University of Istanbul, Turkey, with the theme of “Rethinking Strategies for SMEs in order to be Successful in Global Environment”. 241 papers from different countries were submitted to the Conference. After careful screening, 153 full papers were accepted to be published in the Proceedings. Among accepted papers, some were selected to be published in the Journal of Global Strategic Management, an internationally refereed journal published biannually by the International Strategic Management and Managers Association which also organizes this conference. published on-line by Elsevier in its “Procedia Social and Behavioral Sciences” publication (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/18770428/150) . 11th International Strategic Management Conference was held in Vienna, Austria, between the dates of July 23-25, 2015 , with the theme of “Advances in Strategic Management Theory and Practice". The conference is organized jointly by the International Strategic Management and Managers’ Association, Gebze Technical University, Istanbul Technical University, and Yıldız Technical University. 156 full papers from different countries were submitted to the Conference. After careful screening, 120 papers were accepted to be published in the Proceedings. The Proceedings of 11th ISMC were published on-line by Elsevier in its “Procedia Social and Behavioral Sciences” publication.
