International School of Turin High School Profile 2013-2014 IST Mission Statement The International School of Turin (IST), will empower every student to maximize his/her unique potential within a friendly, supportive, and inspiring environment. Through innovative education of the highest standard, the school will nurture lifelong learners prepared for the challenges of a changing world. The School IST is a coeducational, independent day school comprising 420 students. It comprises Lower School (Early Childhood to Grade 5) and Upper School (Grade 6 to Grade 12). The Students There are 37 different nationalities represented at IST from all areas of the world. Faculty The teaching faculty is comprised of 50 full-time and part-time members of staff. Curriculum Students in Lower School follow the IB Primary Years Programme. The IB Middle Years Programme spans grades 6 to 10 and Italian nationals participate in the state ‘Terza Media’ examination at the end of grade 8. The high school culminates with the IB Diploma in grades 11 and 12. Accreditation IST is one of only a few schools in Italy to be authorized to offer all three IB academic programmes (PYP, MYP and DP). It is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Very limited achievement against all the objectives. The student has difficulty in understanding the required knowledge and skills and is unable to apply them fully in normal situations, even with support.

Limited achievement against most of the objectives, or clear difficulties in some areas. The student demonstrates a limited understanding of the required knowledge and skills and is only able to apply them fully in normal situations with support.

Sports, Activities and Community Service IST offers a range of sporting activities and regularly participates in international tournaments. The school has had a long association with the Model United Nations and regularly attends Conferences around the world. These opportunities have also been unified under the new IST house system. All students participate in community and service activities throughout the school. The school offers opportunities such as: assisting Lower School teachers, PE coaching, Yearbook, National Honors Society and fundraising for Burkina Faso (where IST funds the building of wells).
