Senior Management University staff Prospective international students ` Partner institutions in other European countries Agents and recruitment consultants British Council and other external agencies External suppliers of services To be responsible for the development and implementation of European marketing initiatives in order to contribute to the achievement of the University’s targets for the recruitment of international students.

Principal Accountabilities: •

Assisting the Head of International Marketing in the initiation, development and implementation of the European marketing strategy to maximise the University’s international student recruitment.



Arranging and carrying out visits to designated countries, attending recruitment fairs and developing appropriate follow-up and conversion strategies in pursuit of the agreed marketing plans.



Initiating, developing and managing new recruitment links in target countries to expand the range of recruitment sources and contribute to the business development function.



Researching existing and exploring new markets to build up expert cultural knowledge and market intelligence producing country-specific reports and briefings to contribute to the marketing strategy and the development of admission policies.

Delivering presentations and counselling prospective students in the course of visits to institutions and recruitment consultants as well as promotional events. Carrying out all necessary follow-up work in liaison with colleagues responsible for admissions.



Negotiating with institutional contacts and developing institution–specific operational plans to identify key stages in the recruitment cycle for inclusion in the Memorandum of Co-operation where appropriate and the maintenance of records.



Managing the development and production of guides and handbooks for transfer students and contributing to the development of promotional and display materials.



Organising monitoring and feedback sessions with students from target countries and liaising with Programme Leaders in Faculties to develop best practice models and ensure issues and problems are identified and resolved.



Evaluating outcomes of development activities regularly, producing reports on the achievement of targets and advising on strategies for optimising results.



Contributing to the planning, organisation and delivery of the orientation/welcome programme for new students and providing support to students before, during and after their arrival.



Contributing to the management of personal enquiries from prospective students and providing cover for absent colleagues.



Making arrangements for visits of representatives from recruitment sources in own area of responsibility, organising a programme and acting as host to visitors.



Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required, commensurate with your grade

International Office European Recruitment Officer Conditions of Service The terms and conditions of employment are the responsibility of the Board of Governors. These details are for broad information only and must not be taken as a complete or authoritative statement. In no way do they constitute a contract of employment. (a)

Salary Scale 4, £20,202 - £27,117 per annum paid monthly in arrears by credit transfer. Commencing salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience.

(b)

Hours and Time of Duty The normal hours of work are 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday) at times as agreed with the Head of Department. If the nature of the work so requires, the jobholder may from time to time be required to attend meetings or do other work outside normal hours. Remuneration for overtime may be payable.

(c)

Holiday The holiday year runs from 1 September to 31 August. In addition to the Statutory Bank Holidays, local discretionary holidays, and days when the University is closed in the interests of efficiency, annual holiday entitlement will be 24 days. If employment commences part way through the holiday year, entitlement will accrue on a pro rata basis for each complete calendar month. Holiday entitlements for part-time staff will be calculated according to the number of days and/or hours worked.

Medical Unless otherwise stated, the appointment will be subject to medical clearance.

(e)

Pension The jobholder will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.

(f)

Probationary Period The first 6 months of the appointment will be a probationary period during which your suitability for the position to which you have been appointed will be assessed. The University reserves the right to extend your probationary period if, in its opinion, circumstances so require.
