Now in its second year, this course will provide an intensive review of Internal Medicine for internists who are preparing to take the ABIM Recertification Exam in November 2004 or later. All course faculty are esteemed UCSF clinicians and teachers who are involved in writing the upcoming McGraw-Hill First Aid for the ABIM Exam Certification and Recertification Review book. Interested participants will receive advance copies of book chapters to assist their own review process. The course will feature case based board style questions followed by mini-reviews of key topic areas. Participants will use an Audience Response System that will register their anonymous responses and provide instant feedback on their fund of knowledge. An optional lunch session for reviewing actual ABIM modules in a group format will also be provided. Interactive formats are designed to actively engage participants and to provide optimal preparation for taking and passing the recertification and certification exam.

Describe the most important evidencebased advances in clinical medicine (ambulatory medicine, hospital medicine, medicine subspecialties, neurology, dermatology and psychiatry) over the past decade;

Describe updated approaches to diagnosing and treating the important and common conditions in clinical medicine;

Describe strengths and weaknesses in their own knowledge of Internal Medicine and successfully address these in preparation for the ABIM Recertification exam and for their ongoing clinical practice.
Physicians: UCSF designates this educational activity for a maximum of 26.25 hours category 1 credit toward the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.
