The International Space Station orbits about 220 miles above the Earth and travels at approximately 17,211 mph/hr, roughly taking about 92 minutes to circle the Earth once. As a result, the astronauts on-board see a sunrise or a sunset every 45 minutes.

Since there’s no atmosphere present on the moon, there is in turn no wind or water to erase the Apollo astronauts’ mark on the moon. Therefore, their impressions (footprints and roverwheel marks) will stay preserved on the moon for a very long time. A long time doesn’t equate to forever, though. The moon is actually being constantly bombarded with “micrometeorites,” which means that erosion is still happening on the moon, just very slowly.

International Space Station see about 15–16 sunrises and sunsets daily.

Expand what you can see with the HP ZBook Studio featuring NVIDIA® professional graphics with 4GB of dedicated GDDR5 graphics memory—an extra 2GB of graphics memory that provides enhanced application performance with larger graphics datasets that is not available on any other platform. The world’s first quad core workstation Ultrabook™ is reinventing mobile workstation computing.

The HP ZBook Studio Mobile Workstation has the smallest footprint of the ZBooks , starting at just 18mm thin, making its mobility even more convenient.

space.

Astronomers have located an enormous water vapor cloud floating around a black hole in the universe, marking it as the largest discovery of water anywhere. The reservoir is gigantic, holding 140 trillion times the mass of water in the Earth’s oceans, and resides 10 billion light years away.

Unleash the boundless potential of HP Z Workstations. Thirty years of HP Z DNA is built into HP Z Workstations enabling you to innovate without boundaries, expanding as your workflow grows.

4 Nearby “super-earth” is

likely a diamond planet.

The planet, called 55 Cancri e, had originally been dubbed “super earth” due to the assumption that the chemical make-up was similar to Earth’s including a substantial amount of heated water. But new research now suggests that the planet contains no water at all, and appears to be primarily comprised of carbon (as graphite and diamond). The study estimates that at least a third of the planet’s mass—the equivalent of about three Earth masses—could be diamond.

The HP ZBook Studio is expedition-ready: A fully machined aluminum and die-cast magnesium body with diamond-cut edges means the HP ZBook Studio is sleek and durable.

5 The hottest planet isn’t closest to the sun.

A common misconception is that Mercury is the hottest planet due to its proximity to the sun. However, Venus, the second planet from the sun, is the planet with the highest temperatures. Mercury has no atmosphere, thus no way to maintain the sun’s heat. Venus, however, is enveloped in a thick atmosphere, about 100 times thicker than Earth. The average temperature on Venus is about 875 degrees F, hot enough to melt tin and lead.

The HP ZBook Studio boasts some ‘hot features’ of its own, including the Intel® Xeon® processor options2, dual 1 TB HP Z Turbo Drive G21,3 , for up to 2 TB of total storage, up to 32 GB ECC memory1,3, dual Thunderbolt™ 34, and optional HP DreamColor UHD or FHD touch displays1,3.

6 Pluto is smaller than the USA.

The greatest distance across the contiguous United States is nearly 2,900 miles (from Northern California to Maine). By the best current estimates, Pluto is just over 1400 miles across.

Small but powerful, the HP ZBook is a mobile workstation that starts at just 4.4lb5 (on earth) and offers an optional touch screen, integrated numeric keypad, and impressive battery life.

7 We live inside the sun.

The sun’s outer atmosphere extends far beyond its visible surface. Our planet orbits within this tenuous atmosphere, evidence of this can be seen when gusts of the solar wind generate the Northern and Southern Lights. The solar atmosphere extends far beyond Earth. Auroras have been observed on Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and even distant Neptune.

The astronauts, the International Space Station itself and other objects in Earth don’t descend to the Earth because of their huge orbital velocity. Instead, they fall around Earth. Objects in Earth’s orbit have to travel at least 17,500 mph. So, as they accelerate towards the Earth, the Earth curves away beneath them and they never get any closer. Since the astronauts have the same acceleration as the space station, they feel weightless.

Expand your possibilities by configuring to your work style. And with a rich array of display options including high-resolution, UHD/4K, the award-winning HP DreamColor display and touch screen, it’s easy to find the ZBook that’s right for you.

9 Venus is the only

planet that spins backwards relative to the other planets.

One of the most current theories is that Venus initially spun in the same direction as most other planets and, in a way, still does: it simply flipped its axis 180 degrees at some point in time. It spins in the same direction it always has, just upside down, possibly giving it the illusion that it’s spinning backwards.

Spin it any which way, the HP ZBook Mobile Workstations are innovative c ontaining dust filters, Z Turbo drives, and cooling devices that are ten years ahead of the competition.

10 All of space is not completely silent.

It’s true that sound waves do not move through a vacuum, most of space is a vacuum, and for that reason, is silent. But, not all of space is ‘uniform nothingness’. Some interstellar gas is dense enough to carry sound. That said, it’s sound that is too low for humans to hear.

Because there is air aboard the International Space Station, astronauts can listen to the sounds of the ZBook Studio Mobile Workstation with Bang & Olufsen HD audio, featuring integrated stereo speakers and microphone (dual-microphone array when equipped with optional webcam).

April 8, 2016, was a big day in space travel: SpaceX successfully landed a rocket on an ocean platform. That same mission delivered six HP ZBook 15 Mobile Workstations to the astronauts on the International Space Station. NASA refreshes the computers on the International Space Station every six years—and this year, a total of 120 HP ZBook 15s will be launched into space.
