Introduction

The Wyrestorm range of 1-to-4 and 1-to-8 SD/ HD/3G-SDI products distributes a single SDI video signal simultaneously to multiple devices capable of receiving SDI transmissions. Distribution of the SDI transmission is over coppercore 75Ohm Coax cable using the Wyrestorm TX1COAX-75 Signal Transmitter for HDMI Input into the SDI unit and the Wyrestorm RX-1COAX-75 Receiver for HDMI Output from the SDI unit with runs up to 60m (197ft). SD/HD/3G SDI signals are transmitted and received by an SDI compatible display with no loss in signal quality during the switching process. SP-SDI-0104 and 0108 models are dual NTSC and PAL compatible and support all VESA and DTV/HDTV video formats up to and including 1080p@60Hz for full uncompressed HD with compatible devices. The Wyrestorm Coax Transmitters and Receivers are single cable point to point signal extenders that use copper-core 75Ohm Coax cable as a means of transmitting 1080p HD video@60Hz and multi-channel audio on cable runs up to 60m (197ft), with wideband, two way IR control from either source or display location. Designed for professional applications in which multiple SDI or digital outputs using the same SDI source are required, Wyrestorm SP-SDI-0104 and 0108 SDI products are perfectly suited for diverse applications such as security/surveillance, broadcast television conferences, electronic teaching, in fact, any and wired multiple SDI transmissions are needed. SDI Coaxial BNC connector from the SDI source into the SDI INPUT 1 connection but do not force insertion. If resistance is felt, remove and check the port and connector for possible damage. Insert good quality, well terminated SDI coaxial cables attached to SDI output display devices into the numbered SDI OUTPUT 5 forced BNC connection. Remove and inspect ports and connectors should resistance be felt.

If powered, the top LED indicator will remain fully lit. Check power connections if this LED fails to light. If an active signal is detected, the middle LED indicator no transmission has been received by the unit. Check connections and source device.

Should any of these lights be off, signal reception will not down and check cable, connections and operational status of all connected devices, unplugging and swapping cables if necessary. After thoroughly troubleshooting the installation using this manual, if successful transmission of SDI signal is still not possible, contact Wyrestorm Technical Support for assistance or your local Wyrestorm distributor.

Attention Turn off all power to devices before you disconnect any cables to avoid hotswapping plugs that could damage circuitry. Follow ‘last on first off’ protocol when connecting and disconnecting cables.

Wyrestorm Coax Transmitter and Receiver EDID DIP switch settings

Transmission of HD-SDI signals through Wyrestorm Coax extenders and the SP-SDI 0104 or 0108 distributor requires mutual communication or ‘handshake’ between source and display. If there is any disparity between the two, successful transmission becomes problematic. Wyrestorm Coax Transmitter and Receivers come of EDID DIP settings to encourage communication compatibility issues arise, check the settings on your required.

Attention Changes to the DIP switch settings should be made with transmitters and receivers OFF, ideally with all powers leads, HDMI and Coax cables removed to guard against electro-static build up that may damage your system.

PANEL DESCRIPTIONS AND TROUBLESHOOTING

11.

Troubleshooting

The majority of installation difficulties can typically be attributed to communication problems between devices or when high bandwidth transmissions are attempted with insufficient cable/connections. Should you find yourself in such a situation, read through the following checklist of general issues and causes that should help you shoot your way out of trouble without seeking further assistance.

Coax: 1) connections should be hard-wired at the transmitter end and connected directly with the coax cable in the wall at the receiver end to ensure quality of connection. 2) Make sure the units are rated and tested using RG6 cable. RG59 cable or mini-coax cable may significantly reduce the maximum length and/or resolution that can successfully be passed through the units. 3) For best results, use crimp-on BNC terminations as

4) Make all necessary connections before applying power. Note: If your connecting cable is not long enough, use an interconnecting lead securely barrelled together with an F-connector. 5) Often, wall outlets are used at the receiver end for ease of installation but be aware that any oxidisation of the copper will impact on signal quality and effective transmission so re-termination may be required for a good signal transfer.

No or poor quality picture? 1) Connected and powered? Double check all HDMI, coax and 5v power connections are firmly inserted into correct ports and that all devices are powered. 2) the distance of your cable? If you are approaching the maximum capacity of your transmission cable distance, use in-line repeater to boost your signal or try changing to long cable mode on the DIP switch.

solid core coax wherever possible. 4) If you reduce the resolution of the source, do you get a picture? If so, this suggests a conflicting resolution between source and display or a bandwidth capacity issue with your cable. Check all inputs and outputs share the same resolution and make sure the signal is being successfully transmitted the full length of your cable run. 5) fully establish a signal and can often be caused by poorly terminated or oxidised connectors, excessive cable lengths or bandwidth issues. Ensure your cable is correctly wired to industry standards. Try swap-ping in a the problem continues on the same output, turn off all equipment and swap your signal carrying cables at both ends. 6) can be easily damaged and the quality of material can vary, especially in lower price brackets. Always use good quality leads and cables and try swapping for those already working to see if this improves your image. 7) configured and enabled to transmit and accept the signal. Are resolutions between source and display compatible and cable adequate for the large bandwidth required by Blu-ray transmissions? 8) 3D and Multichannel Audio - the chipset inside the SDI Distributers and Coax extenders support interlaced stereoscopic 3D (cable/sat broadcast) and PCM audio only. It CANNOT pass frame sequential 3D or bit stream multichannel audio. If your installation requires transmission of 3D Blu-Ray, or multichannel audio such as DTS Master. Contact your Wyrestorm dealer for advice on which products would best suit your requirements.
