1.2 General With it´s 4 1000 Base-T ethernet and it´s mini-GBIC port, the 5 port gigabit ethernet switch DIANA 1000 offers an easy to install upgrade and will greatly improve network response times as well as significantly speed up your traffic between your subnets. Gigabit ethernet is an extesnion of IEEE 802.3 ethernet and provides a tenfold increase in theoretical throughput over 100 Mbps and a hundredfold over 10 Mbps ethernet. Since gigabit ethernet is compatible with all 10 and 100 Mbps ethernet environments, gigabit ethernet provides a straightforward upgrade without wasting a company´s existing investment in hardware, software and trained personnel.
