Three Measurements Define a Mat: 1. Window opening size 2. Mat border widths (for each side) 3. Total outside mat size
Adding Additional Mats Choose the offset (how much of the mat beneath you want showing) for each side. The border width for the second mat, minus the offset, is the border width of the top mat. Repeat for each side.
What Size Should My Window Opening Be? Subtract 1/4” in each dimension, from the outside edges of the art being framed, for a 1/8” overlap on each side.
