Thailand and South Korea present at AIRTEC 2016 Since AIRTEC was started, it’s getting more and more international every year. At the upcoming AIRTEC, Thailand has a presence at the exhibtion for the very first time. A hearty welcome to you! And we also warmly wel-

come the 2016 joined stand of KOTRA, Korea’s global business platform. Within the last years ee recognized a strong growth of the number of far eastern exhibitors. We are pleased this trend to be continued in 2016.

Review: AIRTEC's New Year’s Reception a success AIRTEC – a Jewel and High-tech event that fits Munich Representatives from the aerospace industry, from governmental bodies and consulates, from associations and academia, suppliers and exhibitors came together to the New Year’ Reception AIRTEC 2016 on January 20, 2016 in Munich. The reception was opened by the CEO and Exhibition Manager of AIRTEC, Diana Schnabel. In her inspiring speech she looked back to a successful AIRTEC 2015 and gave an outlook for AIRTEC 2016 with a preview on key topics and highlights: R&D Summit “Future of Aviation”, Supply Chain Excellence, Startup Initiative, Additive Manufacturing, Electrical Flying, R&D Summit “Composites” NewSpace.

This speech was followed by presentations of DLR German Aerospace Center and PFH Göttingen (Prof. Richard Degenhardt), Messe Munich (Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer), Austrian Consulate General (Dr. Michael Scherz), Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology (Ulrich Rieger), bavAIRia (Johann Heitzmann), Phytron (Stefan Wohlfeld) and Georg Martin GmbH (Christoph Martin). In these speeches it was repeatedly pointed out that the relocation to Munich was successful, AIRTEC fits perfectly to the high-tech state Bavaria, and that the concept of AIRTEC, based on three pillars, exhibition, B2B meetings, congress, is smart. AIRTEC is an important event for Germany, Europe and world-wide and a must attend for companies involved in the aerospace supply chain, so the unanimous opinion at the New Year’s Reception.

Congress: Electrical aircraft propulsion & sustainability Every year AIRTEC focuses on highly actual topics and trends. For 2016 one such topic is electrical aircraft propulsion and sustainability. The keynote on electrical aircraft propulsion will be held by Prof. Josef Kallo, Coordinator Electric Flight at German Aerospace Center DLR. Dr Giuseppe Pagnano

(European Commission, Coordinating Project Officer at Clean Sky Joint Undertaking) will present the topic’s second keynote „Sustainable development in Aeronautics – role and perspectives of the Clean Sky initiative“.

Congress: Helicopters – supply chain & industrial innovation

Christoph Martin, Georg Martin GmbH

Since many years helicopters are one of AIRTEC’s focus topics. We are very pleased to have some high class lectures already confirmed for AIRTEC 2016: Martin Schuebel, Airbus Helicopters Executive Vice President, Strategic Procurement, will be one of the highlights of the Global Aerospace Sup-

ply Chain Summit on October 25th 2016. Within the HELI symposium a keynote will be held by Dr Rainhill Freitas, Head of Industrial Innovation at Airbus Helicopters. Mr Freitas‘ scope is on the future of the industrial system, technology implementation and on the industry innovation roadmap.

Supply Chain Collaboration enables firms to realize higher benefits. One pre-requisite for supply chain collaboration is to share information. Information sharing allows firms to improve their supply chain performance. This is especially true for operational and strategic information. However, in reality, firms still limit or even avoid sharing information with their supply chain partners. In consequence, the information sharing behavior among firms differs. To get a better understanding of supply chain collaboration, please complete the survey.

L&D: Solution for completely processing all Carbon Fiber Products L&D: Your quality time saving economical Solution for completely processing all Carbon Fiber Products by Hybrid Technology.

• It cuts completely Through, • During pearcing in Carbon and GFK materials there is a local delamination

L&D Jet Technology NV, a Job shop company with ISO 9001 and en 9100 certificate, is specialized in water jet cutting of all possible materials. (Titanium, Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Plastics, Carbon fiber, GFK, Peek, Glass, Etc..)

To solve these limitations and to be able to offer total solutions L&D has invested in a Hybrid machine that combines the waterjet cutting with milling/drilling/tapping in one machine. This solution is Unique in the Benelux.

Waterjet cutting has many advantages: • It is a cold production process • An ideal solution for cutting composite materials and GFK materials, because there is no danger for Fiber Break out • There is only a loss of 1 mm on the cutting gap, • The cut is very smooth and Burr-free.

With this Hybrid Machine, we can fully operate items in one fixture and we are able to mill slots and drill small holes directly. The result are total solutions and time saving, which translates into a more favorable price setting.

However, the water jet cutting has 2 limitations:

The B2B platform and meetings were of great value, attracting a large number of senior buyers and technical specialists from across the aerospace industry – people that you can’t always gain access to at other events.

What were the main reasons for your company to participate at the AIRTEC 2015?

How do you see the subject of cooperation – companies working together along the supply chain, instead of doing everything on their own/in-house – regarding AIRTEC 2015?

AIRTEC was already familiar to us as a well-organised and well-targeted show and this is the second time we have exhibited.

As global manufactures, Fine Tubes and Superior Tube need experts in other fields to help us provide excellent products to our cus-

tomers. AIRTEC gives us a valuable platform to network with these potential customers/ suppliers. Finally, have your overall expectations being delivered at this year’s trade show? Especially, in regard to the new fairground in Munich. Are you planning to participate next year as well? AIRTEC 2015 exceeded our expectations and the event delivered tangible results for us, including serious enquiries from potential new customers. As a result, we have already booked our stand for 2016! Munich is an international hub of aviation business and technology and was therefore an ideal location for the event.
