Lawrence North Student-Athletes of the Week (September 19th)

Terrance Mallory, Football

Jean Carson, Cross Country

Terrance, a sophomore, turned in a great night on the defensive side of the ball by keeping the Carmel receivers in check all night. Terrance registered 4 tackles, two pass deflections, and one saved touchdown in the 27-20 win over Carmel. Jean led the Wildcats to a team championship at the 14-team Yorktown Invitational. The senior captain finished first overall, turning in the fastest time by over 4 seconds out of 110 girls! Great job Terrance and Jean!

Lawrence North Student-Athletes of the Week (September 26th)

Robbie Bruner, Tennis

Aerial Simmons, Cheerleading

Robbie, a senior tennis player, earned a runner-up finish at the competitive MIC conference tournament. He also played a key role in the team's semi-final appearance in the county tournament. Aerial, a senior cheerleader, spent the past eight weeks prepping for the Circle City Classic Coronation Program. She went above and beyond to represent true leadership and what all wildcat athletes should embody. She earned the top sales award for the most scholarship donations. She represented LN at the Circle City Classic parade this weekend. She did all of this while fulfilling her duty as cheer captain and student spirit leader. Congrats Robbie and Aerial!

Cross-Country: The girls and boys XC teams ran at the Yorktown Invitational on 9/17, with both teams capturing 1st place! Jean Carson clocked the fastest time out of 110 individuals to lead the Wildcats. She was also name the Indy Star Athlete of the Week! You can check out the article on Jean here: http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/highschool/2016/09/24/indiana-high-school-athletes-week-sept-1117/90696166/ The teams were also in action at the MIC championships on 9/24, with the girls capturing MIC runner-up and the boys placing 4th. All-MIC performances were turned in by Jean Carson, Grace Dean, Maddie Loughery and Kyle Harris. Photos provided by Coach Morgan.

Football: The Wildcats (3-3, 2-2 MIC) claimed the Bill Duke Pigskin trophy with a 27-20 win over Carmel, their first win over the Greyhounds since 2004! Al McKeller and Elijah Smith scored key TD’s and the LN defensive came up big time, including a great goal line stand to keep the Greyhounds out of the end zone. Coach Pat Mallory was recognized as the Indianapolis Colts High School Coach of the Week! Unfortunately, the Cats couldn’t maintain that momentum, as the turnover bug hit us in a 41-14 loss to Ben Davis on Friday night. The Wildcats will play at Warren Central in the Indy Star MIC Network Game of the Week on Friday Night! Photos by Mr. Penrose and Varsity Views. You can watch the game here on the MIC Network: http://themicnetwork.in/

Girls Golf: The Wildcat golfers finished 3rd at the IHSAA Sectional Championship at South Grove Golf Course to advance to the Regional for the 4th time in a row! Senior Abby Wischmann led the way for the Cats, shooting an 80 over 18 holes. At the regional, the team placed 14th to finish the season. The girls also collected a lot of items for the LN food pantry last week. Great job ladies, getting it done on the course and in the community! Photos courtesy of Coach Wischmann.

Boys Soccer: The LN soccer team picked up wins over Pike and Pendleton Heights and played state ranked HSE tough in a loss. The team will be taking on Roncalli in the opening round of the Marion County tournament this week. Photos courtesy of Varsity Views.

Girls Soccer: The Wildcats lost to Heritage, picked up a win over Marion, and then lost to state ranked HSE. The team also takes on Roncalli this week in the opening round of the Marion County tournament. Photos courtesy of Varsity Views.

Boys Tennis: The Wildcats played strong in the MIC championships, placing in 4th, just 2 points behind Center Grove for third. Robbie Bruner was the MIC runner-up at #2 singles. The team will finish off the regular season against Ben Davis on Monday and then will defend their sectional championship starting on Wednesday.

Volleyball: The Cats lost to state ranked teams Center Grove and Mt. Vernon, and then traveled to Muncie for the Bearcat Invitational. The team went 3-1, beating Wapahani, Mishawaka-Marian and McCutcheon but falling to Yorktown. Lawrence North is currently ranked 8th in class 4A. The team looks to get back on track with a game against Zionsville on Tuesday, and then the team will look to defend their Marion County Championship beginning Thursday. The County semi-finals and finals are set for Saturday at home in the renovated Keefer Gymnasium! Let’s go Cats!

Keefer Gymnasium Update The bleachers have been installed and look great! We still need to put some finishing touches on the railing to match the new aisles. Things are looking starting to come together! Come on out this week to see the volleyball team on Tuesday and then hopefully on Saturday in the Marion County finals!

Final Regular Season Game at Dwaine C. Bell Stadium (1976 – 2016) The final regular season game at Dwaine C. Bell stadium will be played on October 7th, 2016. The Lawrence North Wildcats will host the Center Grove Trojans in a MIC showdown starting at 7:00pm. At the conclusion of the season, the stadium will be leveled in preparation for the construction of the new stadium, bleachers, and locker room facilities. The Lawrence North athletic department would like to invite any former Wildcat football athletes to the game for a catered pre-game tailgate by Jugs Catering in the East end zone starting at 5:45pm. Senior Wildcats will be recognized before the game. We would like the LN football alumni to form a tunnel for the current Wildcats to run through as they make their way onto the field out of the Wildcat blow up tunnel. At halftime, those alumni in attendance will be recognized. Any former LN football player and one guest will be admitted to the game free of charge. Any additional guests will be $6.00 for the game ticket and $9.00 for the meal. RSVP is required before Friday, September 30th. Please RSVP here: http://lnwildcats.ltschools.org/announcements/dwaine-c-bell-stadium-1976%E2%80%93-2016 Name, graduation year, and guest information will be required when you RSVP.
