Natural Stone Leading through High Quality Performance Natural stone has its own laws. They call for special experts. These experts are able to read the nuances and colors in the stone. They can recognize the unique masterpiece that a completely structured piece of work can evolve into. The experts know that good work also requires good tools. For over 80 years FLEX has been the competent and innovative partner for working with natural stone. Over time a comprehensive range of machines was developed in close co-operation with experienced stone masons. This resulted in a product range that sets the standard in every aspect, with features such as robustness and reliability, handling, ease of maintenance and - above all - safety of operation under wet conditions. The long-time competence of FLEX also includes the knowledge that FLEX engineers have about the nature of stone, its characteristics, and its sensitivities. That is why a FLEX machine does not damage or soil the valuable “natural stone” raw material, but rather refines it – in a way a steadfast relationship ought to be. This allows the user to do perfect work. Bushhammering prevents slippage
FLEX is the world authority for WET grinders and polishers for natural stone. Water serves two purposes in the grinding/polishing of natural stone: • to bind the granite dust into a slurry • to act as an evenly distributed film of molecules sandwiched between the grinder/polishing head and the natural stone.
Smooth natural stone floors can turn into slippery danger zones in wet weather. Roughening helps alleviate this problem and ensures better traction. In the past this was difficult once the natural stone slabs had been set. With the FLEX bushhammer this job is taken care of in just a few minutes even on the hardest granite surfaces.
This hydroplaning results in a smooth surface treatment and extends the life usage of the diamond abrasives that are used with the grinders/polishers. All FLEX WET grinders and polishers are equipped with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) to ensure safe operation in wet environments.

This FLEX WET grinder is a true powerhouse
LW 1503 is the most demanded wet polisher in the industry. It is a compact, but powerful workhorse. Due to its light weight and portability, this product has become the "de facto" standard for all WET polishers. The LW 1503 is frequently used to polish surfaces and edges of natural stone (sink holes, counter top edges, and other small stone surfaces). Velcro™ backing pads and diamond resin polishing pads are to be purchased separately.
This compact 4-1/2” high speed WET grinder is designed for maximum material removal of concrete or natural stone. With its 8,300 RPM and 7.8 AMP motor, it is the fastest WET grinder in the market. It is intended for all heavy duty stone grinding applications (bulk material removal, edge breaking, coarse grinding of uneven surfaces and polish preparation work). 4 1/2-inch diamond cup wheels are to be purchased separately.

The powerful FLEX edge milling tool for granite
LWW 1506 VR is the "smaller sibling" of the LWW 2106. The LWW 1506 VR is designed to handle up to 1-1/4” thick slabs for milling and grinding sinks, kitchen tops, counters, and tables. For use on both straight and curved edges. Caution: For safety reasons, this unit should be operated only in conjunction with the GFCI operator protection circuit breaker!
LWW 2106 VR is the "heavy duty" two-handed edge milling machine from FLEX. It is designed to handle up to 1-3/4” thick granite slabs. This product is ideally suited to round edges of larger natural stone surfaces (counters tops, tables or double basin kitchen sink holes). LWW 2106 VR is a portable tool yet has the power and flexibility of conventional stationary CNC machines.

BHW 1549 VR is the hand-held wet drill from FLEX. It uses diamond bits ranging from 5/32” to 1/2” and is suitable for all drilling applications into natural stone. Examples include drilling wall anchor holes in natural stone tiles (to hang light fixtures, bathroom accessories, mirrors or pictures), mounting name plates on natural stone, and drilling small conduits through natural stone for electrical cables. Diamond bits are to be purchased separately.
The slim, stable drill stand, lateral supports and long feed column are characteristic of this drilling unit, enabling drilling of the next higher step from a lower one. Swiveling the feed column enables drilling in corners and recesses on banisters, gravestones and baths. The FLEX Finger Belt Sander tackles the most difficult Corners
The LBR 1506 VRA is a "wrap-around" pipe sander. The sanding belt wraps around the pipe and consequently requires only a few steps to sand the entire circumference of the pipe. The LBR 1506 VRA is designed to work on 3/8 to 10” diameter pipes and renders welding seams invisible and carefully gives every stainless steel pipe a high gloss finish. Due to its very powerful 11 AMP motor, its infinitely adjustable speeds and its unique wrap-around technology, this product is used where many pipes and handrails are found (refineries, liquid/ gas operations, food processing industries and hotels). 9 mm electronic finger belt sander is the most versatile belt sander in the industry. Its narrow filing arm allows sanding and grinding in those awkward, confined, tricky and difficult areas. In order to increase the flexibility of this tool, the filing arm can be adjusted 140° horizontally. The FLEX Boa sander: the all-roundpolishing solution The perfect solution for sanding and polishing pipe constructions. The sanding arm wraps itself around the pipe like a snake when pressure is applied, tackling radii up to 270°. Spring resistance between the deflection rollers means that the sanding arm and sanding belt are always uniformly pretensioned. The Boa needs only be be rotated slightly to continue treatment and achieve the perfect finish. FLEX Metal Surface Treatment Guide Removal of weld seams on stainless steel, steel and aluminum a. Pre-sand with coarse grinding grits (60-100 grits) depending on the thickness of the welding seam. b. As soon as the welding seam has almost been sanded to the level of the surface, change to a finer grit (120-180 grits). Work through the sequence of ever finer grits until the requested finish is achieved. Do not skip grit levels. c. Use SCM belts to achieve a decorative finish: - Use a 100/120 or a 180/240 granulation SCM belt to achieve a dull finish. Machine should be set to "3" on the RPM pre-set dial. - Use a 400 granulation SCM belt to achieve a brilliant finish. Machine should be set to "6" on the RPM pre-set dial. Removal of scratches from stainless steel and non-ferrous metal a. The deeper the scratch, the coarser the grit is to be used. b. Start sanding with the coarsest grit. Machine should be set to "2" on the RPM pre-set dial. Move the sander over the entire area of the scratch. c. When the scratch is almost invisible, start working with even finer grits until desired finish has been achieved. Do not skip grit levels as this will leave an unfavorable finish. Achieving a polished mirror finish on stainless steel and non-ferrous metal a. Start with a coarse grit. Work the surface until you have a "universal scratch pattern". b. Step through the various grit levels (grit 400, grit 600, grit 1,500) until you have finished with the finest grit. Only proceed to the next grit level when a universal scratch pattern has been achieved.

Car Polishing Polishing Perfection FLEX offers a wide range of professional electronic variable speed polishers for the automotive industry.
For a professional polish: Water-soluble, ecological automotive paints should be processed with little force, at low speed and with gentle pressure. This prevents the heating up of the polishing medium and too much paint abrasion. FLEX sponges and appropriate quality polishing media ensure the proper treatment to suit the material (observe the recommended speeds / metallic enamels require special polishing media).
FLEX recommendations: • Single-coated lacquering (without clear coat varnish): 2,200 to 2,800 rpm with blue FLEX polishing sponges • Double-coated lacquering (without clear coat varnish): 1,200 to 1,700 rpm with white FLEX polishing sponges • Processing beads and curves as well as repolishing: with black FLEX VelcroTM sponges

For a perfect finish always work on one section of the vehicle at a time (hood, trunk, etc.). Do not circulate, but rather polish the surfaces length- and cross-wise. Mechanically remove polishing medium residues with a slightly moistened lamb or wool fleece.
To conserve the enamel, wax should be applied with a soft VelcroTM sponge. This deepens the sheen of the enamel especially for black cars. After absorption and drying, polish down with lamb and wool fleece. Important: Use a separate sponge for each polishing medium and color! FLEX polishing accessories on pages 49-51
