System Menu/Properties

SETTINGS Setting menu let you change various different settings of the unit including Wireless & Networks, Ethernet, Display, Applications, Accounts & Sync, Privacy, Storage, Language & Keyboard, Date and Time. Depends on your setup, it is necessary to adjust some of the settings to optimize XIOS DS Media Play’s functions and performance.

WIRELESS & NETWORKS Wireless & Networks setting allow you to setup wireless connectivity.

WI-FI SETTINGS Enter Wi-Fi settings menu will automatic scan in range Wi-Fi networks. Select the appropriate network to connect. Network authentication may require if the network is protected.

PORTABLE HOTSPOT PORTABLE HOTSPOT is used if you want to turn your unit into a wireless hotspot.

STEP 1: Enable Portable Wi-Fi hotspot STEP 2: Select Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings

STEP 3: The default Network SSID is preset to AndroidAP for hotspot. Select your security setting i.e. WPA2 PSK and type in the password.

VPN SETTINGS To access VPN (Virtual Private Network ), you need to setup your VPN setting first. Select and enter your VPN information, and click the MENU button on the upper right corner or press F1 button on the keyboard to save / cancel settings.

MOBILE NETWORKS (3G) This setting is to let you access internet via your telecom 3G network. An USB 3G adapter(not included) is required for this operations.

ETHERNET SETTINGS

If you choose to connect via Ethernet, make sure the Ethernet setting is enabled first. When an available network IP is assigned, the XIOS DS Media Play will automatically connect to your DHCP server. You can also manually configure your network setting.

DISPLAY The XIOS DS supports various output modes from 480i to 1080p. For HDMI connection please select the appropriate setting of your device.

DISPLAY POSITION Some displays might not output the correct screen resolutions. You can manually adjust your display position to match the edge of your TV.

ICON SIZE

You can select icon size for your desktop to match your personal view options. This can be changed from Small, Middle, Big. Once a new options has been selected, the box will require to restart.

APPLICATIONS

Under APPLICATIONS you can find various application and system related settings.

Unknown sources: It allows you to install non-Market applications. Quick Launch: Set keyboard shortcuts to launch applications. Manage Applications/ Running Services: Manage and application removal/ View and control current running services.

Limit applications: Limit the number of running applications simultaneously. *Note: For games, it is recommended to set the setting to 1 application only.

Development: Access into debug mode by Ethernet/Wi-Fi connected.

PRIVACY Here you can back up your data, reset to your factory setting, update firmware.

FACTORY DATA RESET Double click Reset box, it will delete all data and go back to the factory original setting.

UPDATE SYSTEM When new firmware update is available, download the latest firmware from www.pivosgroup.com and copy it to either a SD or USB pen to flash the firmware.

UPDATE SYSTEM ONLINE Detect and download the latest firmware through internet, it needs SD card plugged. After finished, it will remind you to update now or not.

ACCOUNTS & SYNC Here you can back up application data, Wi-Fi passwords, and the other settings via your registered Google account.

STORAGE This will display any installed memory card information as well as card management.

LANGUAGE & KEYBOARD Select language: Press UP/Down buttons to choose language.

DATE & TIME Here you can set up date and time zone, or automatic syncing with internet.

ABOUT DEVICE Shows model system information.

SHORTCUTS, WIDGETS, FOLDERS AND WALLPAPERS. Press left mouse button on the home screen for a couple seconds to add Shortcuts, Widgets, Folders and Wallpapers.

INSTALL APPLICATIONS Select App Installer to install applications from sd card, sata(Hard disk) or sda(USB disk).

Select the device to scan APKs.

If you want to install all applications scanned at one time, press MENU button on the upper right corner or press F1 button on your keyboard to choose SELECT ALL / UNSELECT ALL, then press MENU button on the upper right corner or press F1 button on your keyboard again to select Install/uninstall for installing.

VIDEO PLAYER

SET BROWSER TYPE Select the browser type to enable viewing webpages that are designed for Desktop, iphone or ipad viewing mode. Press the MENU button on the upper right corner or press F1 button on your keyboard, choose More Settings will allow you to see the list of types available.

FIRMWARE UPDATE There are three solutions: 1. Update online: go to setting->privacy->update system online, it will detect the newest firmware version from internet. 2. Update with SD card: copy update.img file to SD card, connect to the box, then, go to setting->privacy->update system->update box, it will update automatically. 3. Update with SD card/USB disk: copy update.img file to SD card/USB disk, connect to the box, then, press the reset/update button on the box, plug in power adapter at the same time, hold several seconds, you will see a updating screen, it means the new firmware is being updated.
