INTRO Hi Introduction by ’Well Legend Stevie Kirk

a nd welcome to the Official Motherwell FC Soccer Schools Brochure for January to April 2011.

The brochure details the range of courses we will be providing over the next few months. This year, for the first time ever, we will be introducing a Goalkeeping School at Wishaw Sports Centre. This will be open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 to 16 who want to develop their goalkeeping skills. Our experienced coaches will take them through a range of techniques to ensure they keep clean sheets on match days. From spring we will also be forming community teams that will play in local Lanarkshire leagues. Young people will be able to emulate me in wearing the famous claret and amber jersey and perhaps achieve their ambition of notching a hat trick for the mighty ’Well. Our Soccer School at Wishaw Sports Centre will also move from an indoor facility to an outdoor facility to allow more young people to take part, and to provide better coaching for developing skills and techniques.

SOCCER SCHOOLS At Motherwell Football Club, we pride ourselves on playing as a team to produce imaginative, entertaining and skilful football. Motherwell Soccer Schools have been operating since the 1990’s and during that time thousands of boys and girls from all around Lanarkshire and beyond have developed their skills, in a fun and safe environment, through our community coaching programmes. The courses are based on the same principles used on the training ground by our first team players such as Chris Humphrey, and Tom Hateley; developing the young players’ technical skills and passion for the game to ensure they become the best players they possibly can at a level they are comfortable with. Our soccer school courses welcome children of all abilities and it doesn’t matter which team they support, we just want everyone to have fun whilst learning to play football the Motherwell way.

In addition, old favourites such as the Fir Park Soccer School play an important part in our programme.
