Aim

• To appreciate what nurses and doctors think and know about EBP. (Ubbink DT et al., Neth J Med. 2011) • To define a structural implementation strategy to implement and sustain EBP at various (managerial) levels.

Methods • Inventory of attitude, knowledge, barriers & facilitators towards EBP among five specialties in a university hospital – – – – –

• McColl and Barriers questionnaires • Systematic literature review of EBP-inventories worldwide

Results

• 537 nurses and 435 doctors – Response rate: 70% – Similar basic training in EBP since 1990’s – Over 50% of the doctors and about 40% of the nurses had received some training in critical appraisal

• 31 clinical EBP-inventory studies from all continents
