Before continuing through this set-up booklet, please ensure you have purchased a SIM card topped up with at least £5.00 credit. The iHelp is unlocked to any network but check signal levels in the area before choosing a network provider, the better the signal the faster the iHelp will respond and the more accurate its tracking function will be.

Opening The Device:

On/Off Slide Switch

Mini USB Charging Port

Inserting the SIM card:

To install the SIM card and battery you will need to remove the back cover of the iHelp. First gently lift the central flap of the belt clip and slide upwards from the main case to remove.

The SIM card fits into a locking slider which will hold it in place securely. To open the holder, slide the silver part to the right and it will swing open to show a slot fit for a SIM card.

You can now slide the battery cover down and away from the iHelp to reveal the battery and SIM card connections.

Insert the SIM with the gold contacts down and close over the metal holder. Once flat, slide to the left to lock in position.

Inserting the battery:

Charging the iHelp:

Observing the metal connectors in the battery, line up with the pins inside the battery compartment. Insert the battery at a 45º angle so that the contacts meet the pins, then press down into place. Inserting the battery flat may damage the connector pins.

Do not switch on the iHelp as soon as the battery is inserted. Insert the large end of the USB charging cable into the charger plug socket and the smaller end into the iHelp charging port.

Now insert the charger plug into a mains socket. During charging a red LED will light on the plug, changing to green when fully charged. The first charge will take approximately 6 hours.

Indicators:

Setting Up The iHelp:

If the battery power level becomes low in the iHelp, the power status LED will flash red to indicate that you need to charge the device. Once the power status LED is flashing, the device has around 9hrs of battery life remaining. The iHelp will also send a low battery warning text to all programmed telephone numbers.

The iHelp can be set-up using two methods; by SMS text messages or by an APP (available for both Android and iOs). If you would like to use the APP to setup the device, use your smartphone’s QR scanner to scan the relevant barcode below. To use SMS messages to setup the device continue through this booklet.

Android QR code: Flashing red = 20% battery power remaining

When the iHelp is powered up the GSM signal indicator will start to flash green very quickly. After a few minutes, when the device has a good GSM connection, this will slow down to flashing every 4-5 seconds.

SMS Message Set-Up As mentioned previously the iHelp can be set up using only text messages from a carer or family members mobile phone. Before beginning setup ensure that the iHelp is fully charged and the SIM card is active and topped up with credit. It is best to place the iHelp outside during set-up as this creates a direct link with the location satellite, giving greater accuracy when tracking. Slide the side switch to the ON position. The GSM signal indicator will flash quickly before slowing down to indicate that a connection has been made with the mobile network. Using the primary caregivers telephone, send this text to the tracker (in capitals): KBD. The iHelp will respond with ‘Open binding is successful’. There is also a helpline number and website link, please ignore these. After around 60 seconds the iHelp will send another text ‘The device is in operation’. The primary telephone is now paired to the device and only this number can now make changes to alarms. Required Function

Troubleshooting Problem

Check ● Ensure the battery is inserted correctly

The iHelp will not turn on

● Check the battery connector pins are not damaged and are making a connection with the battery terminals ● Charge the iHelp ● Ensure there is credit on the SIM card

The iHelp does not respond to text messages

● Ensure the iHelp has plenty of battery power remaining ● Check the SIM card is inserted correctly and the sliding holder is locked in place

The iHelp is not giving an accurate location

● Ensure you are one of the authorised telephone numbers ● Check signal level in the area with other users of the network provider you have chosen. Poor signal will affect location messages drastically
